    SBCC Specialist (Advocacy and Capacity Building)

    Job Purpose

    • To support the Senior Technical Advisor Advocacy in the day-to-day delivery of duties.
    • To be involved with developing and implementing innovative SBCC strategies for HC3.

    Core Duties

    • Support the STA Advocacy to coordinate the HC3 advocacy and capacity building initiatives.
    • Under the technical direction of the STA Advocacy, participate in coordinating the process of standardizing national malaria SBCC tools and materials through the development of national centerpiece materials
    • Assist the STA advocacy in providing support on crosscutting issues, and providing TA to the ACSM branch of NMEP in line with project priorities
    • Assist the STA advocacy in SBCC related concept development and other creative initiatives to ensure that project goals are met.
    • Assist the STAA advocacy in organizing and managing activity schedules and plans
    • Assist in writing and sharing reports of meetings/technical workshops, and also contribute to the development of project quarterly reports.
    • Work with the STA Advocacy to facilitate liaison with universities and coordinate the tic; university SBCC internship programme
    • Actively participate in the monthly National ACSM sub -committee meeting and other related SBCC technical meetings and work group activities.
    • Ensure that all project BCC documents and other information required for program strategic planning and reporting are prepared and submitted on time and in compliance with the requirements of USAID
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of NC’3’s innovative and robust Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) approaches
    • Work with monitoring and evaluation staff to monitor progress towards the delivery of programme outputs, paying special attention to the objective of documenting the success (e.g. collecting most significant change stories), or otherwise, of USAID/HC3 interventions with a view to providing evidence of impact and demonstrating good value for money.

    Qualifications and skills

    • Ability to write, adapt and translate with accuracy, clarity and style appropriate to differing audiences arid forms of media.
    • Good basic computer skills and the ability to acquire technical skills and to operate technical equipment essential. Familiarity with the Internet and an awareness of the potential of new technology is declarable.
    • At least a first degree or equivalent in Theatre Ant, Mass Communication or other related field. A masters in Communication or Public Health will be an added advantage.
    • Good interpersonal and time management skills.
    • Excellent creative instincts and the ability to originate new ideas.
    • Ability to work under pressure with little or no supervision and must be a self-starter.

    Knowledge and experience

    • At least five years post-National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) experience, some of which should be in malaria program management, advocacy, and capacity building.
    • A full command and up to date knowledge of both written and spoken English, and the ability to communicate effectively.
    • Excellent grounding in SBCC programming and in-depth understanding of capacity building approaches.
