TEAM PURPOSE:
The Nigeria Country Team works on programs focussed on economic justice, gender justice, humanitarian and good governance. The Research, Policy and Advocacy team’s purpose is to lead and provide support to Oxfam’s influencing work to maximise the impact of its work at local, national, regional and global levels.
JOB PURPOSE:
The Research, Policy and Advocacy Coordinator will have a solid understanding of the context in Nigeria and of the tools that Oxfam can use to influence political change and achieve its objectives (these tools include: lobbying, advocacy, media, research, policy briefs, and digital communications tools). She/he will support Oxfam’s efforts to design and implement advocacy, campaign and communications strategies that enable Oxfam and its partners to influence pro-poor and equitable change. The Research, Policy and Advocacy Coordinator will support Oxfam’s programmes in Nigeria by delivering high quality research, policy and advocacy work on key poverty issues, through a strong research capacity at national level, and engagement with influential regional research institutions. She/he is expected to play the role of both a ‘project manager’ and ‘expert practitioner’ on research, policy and advocacy.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:
Masters Degree
BSc Political Science, International Affairs, Public Policy or Government
8 – 10 years post graduate working experience.
