Background Information

• Notice is hereby given to the general public, especially global academic community that the post of Vice-Chancellor of Samuel Adegboyega University shall become vacant on January 6, 2020.
• The Visitor to the University, who is the Vice-President of The Apostolic Church Nigeria and LAWNA Chairman, Pastor (Dr) E. S. Awojide, has approved that the Governing Council should commence the process of appointment of a new Vice-Chancellor. Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the distinguished position.

The Job

• Subject to the provisions of the University law, the Vice-Chancellor shall take precedence over all other members of the University except the Pro- Chancellor and Chancellor.
• Subject to the provisions of the University law, the Vice-Chancellor shall have the general function of directing the activities of the University and shall be the Chief Executive and Academic Officer of the University and Chairman of the Senate.

Tenure of Office/Term of Appointment

• The Vice-Chancellor, who shall be appointed by Council with the endorsement of the BoT, shall hold office for a non-renewable term of five years. The remuneration and other conditions of service shall be as applicable to the post of Vice-Chancellor in Nigeria Federal Universities, and as may be determined by the Proprietor and Council of Samuel Adegboyega University.

The Candidate
The candidate for the post of Vice-Chancellor of Samuel Adegboyega University must be a distinguished scholar with outstanding academic and administrative records. He must be a proven manager of human and material resources, specifically;

• The candidate must possess a Doctorate Degree and be a full Professor of, normally, not less than ten (10) years standing, with ability to provide academic and administrative leadership for the University community. However, candidates with substantial experience at the professorial level, who have held senior academic and administrative positions, sufficient as to prepare him/her for the position of Vice-Chancellor, would be considered;
• Possess a proven track record of academic excellence such as to be able to command the respect of national and international academic communities and colleagues;
• Possess a clear vision for the further development of the University and the realization of its vision, mission and strategic goals;
• Have a demonstrable ability to establish and maintain partnerships with local, national and international governmental and nongovernmental agencies and organizations;
• Possess a proven and demonstrable ability to attract international research and development giants.
• Exhibit entrepreneurial drive and ability to attract extra-statutory funds and mobilise other resources for the development of the University;
• Have a demonstrable ability to attract, motivate and retain highly skilled and talented staff in all categories, teaching and non- teaching;
• Demonstrate interpersonal and team building skills and possess the ability to build bridges between staff, students, other members of the University community and university’s stakeholders.
• Demonstrate respectable level of ICT literacy;
• Enjoy excellent physical and mental health.
• He/She should not be above 65 years of age at the time of assumption of office of Vice-Chancellor.
