    Medical Trainer

    SUPERVISOR: Health Program Coordinator

    Technical Link: Pharmacist, Database Officer, MDM trainers, Medical Supervisors

    Duration: 5 Months with possibility of extension

    Start Date: As Soon As Possible

    Essential Duties

    The Medical Doctor trainer is responsible for overseeing the quality and technical aspects of the Doctors and CHO consultations and other medical activities as needed, through formal and on-the-job training and supervision, and other methods agreed with HPC.

    All technical training and support have to be based following National guidelines and / or other guidelines suggested by the Medco, Health Program Coordinator and/or Medical Advisor from HQ.

    Technical supervision

    • Identify needs of trainings for all healthcare staff, with a focus on Doctors and CHOs, on topics within the realm of Primary Health Care
    • Ensure Formal and Informal trainings to the doctors and CHOs to address identified gaps in capacity
    • Work in close collaboration with other MdM trainers to implement trainings according technical needs in each medical activity
    • Organize/Participate to triage activities in the clinic in collaboration with expatriate midwife(s) and nurse/nutritionist
    • Oversee the quality of the doctors and CHOs activities: consultation, prescription, diagnosis and data collection   through provision of technical support and on-the-job training
    • Implement and supervise formal trainings for doctors, nurses, clinical health officers, community mobilisers, and others as needed
    • Conduct trainings and follow up for all health care workers on key health messaging, including Community Mobilisers, Crowd Controllers, Registers etc, in collaboration with the Nurse and Midwife trainers
    • Conduct trainings and follow up for community health volunteers on all aspects of health promotion, including Community Mobilisers, Crowd Controllers, Registers etc, in collaboration with the Nurse and Midwife trainers
    • Ensure direct care to patients when necessary
    • Support the referral of medical cases under supervision of the medical supervisor in accordance with the MDM referral guidelines
    • Organize the weekly activities schedule in collaboration with the other trainers
    • Adhere to the MDM procedures for management of pharmaceuticals in the field
    • Monito the quality of the prescriptions given by the clinic doctors closely to ensure quality and accuracy, in collaboration with MdM medical team
    • Ensure appropriate treatment according to the protocols are followed at MCs and Health Facilities. This includes quality of medical care dispensed.
    • Use evidence and learning from health program to advocate for beneficiaries’ priorities

    Participate in reporting activities and communication

    • Compile and computerize Doctors and CHO data for inclusion in medical reports or any other relevant reports
    • Report number of training activities and medical staff trained per week to the Health Program Coordinator and Medco
    • Prepare a weekly activity report to submit to Health Program Coordinator
    • Participate to MdM internal meetings (medical, security…)
    • Attend to external medical meetings upon Medical Coordinator or Health Program Coordinator request
    • Follow up medical issues and sharing of information with Health Program Coordinator
    • Coordinate with Medical Supervisor to conduct field activities in a harmonised way

    QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

    • Essential Bachelor’s University Degree in Medicine and Surgery, Tropical Medicine or related studies from an accredited university.
    • Master's degree in relevant field will be an added advantage.
    • 3 years of relevant professional work experience, previous experience in MdM is a plus but not a must.
    • Background/familiarity with Emergency.
    • Good command of written and spoken English.
    • Knowledge of Kanuri and Hausa Languages will be an advantage.
    • Strong interpersonal and team building skills and excellence as a team player.
    • Must possess the ability to learn with speed and ease.
    • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, power point presentation etc.)
    • Strong sense of responsibility, methodical and accurate with high organizational skills
    • Honesty and integrity and able to cope with stressful situations.
    • Manages effectively his own time as well as flexible and available to work over time when needed
    • Willing to be deployed to the newly liberated local government areas.
