    Junior Quantity Surveyor

    Job Summary

    • We are seeking a skilled, reliable, efficient Quantity Surveyor to join our growing organization.
    • In this position, you will assist QS team to estimate costs of construction projects, working with contractors, builders, and architects to provide the most cost-effective plans that meet high quality standards.
    • He/she will work to minimize the costs of project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality.

    Job Description

    • Shadowing the Senior QS and team members as they perform their duties.
    • Track changes in plans or constructions; update budgets
    • Identify potential financial or construction risks
    • Document progress, materials, and reports on project
    • Advise on property taxes, regulations, and local laws
    • Assist in preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the Project managers, design department and/or the client.
    • Undertake cost analysis for all MMIS project
    • Assist in establishing a client's requirements and undertake feasibility studies.
    • Perform risk assessment, value management and cost control.
    • Advise on a procurement strategy.
    • Identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks.
    • Prepare and analyse costing for tenders.
    • Analyse outcomes and write detailed progress reports.
    • Value completed work and arrange payments.
    • Arranging payments to suppliers and sub-contractors
    • providing advice and forecasts about costs
    • Send regular reports about project cost and progress to the lead quantity surveyor

    Minimum Educational Qualification & Professional Experience

    • University Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Engineering or related field from a reputable higher institution of learning.
    • Minimum of 2-3 years of direct experience in the construction/Engineering industry with a focus on Electromechanical, Firefighting, HVAC and plumbing projects.
    • Professional certification such as Membership of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors(NIQS),Quantity Surveyors Registration Board (QSRBN) and other Professional bodies will be an added advantage
    • Health & Safety Certification and Project management Certification will also an added advantage

    Quality Assurance/Quality Control Officer

    • Quality Assurance/Quality Control Engineer inspects, test and sample materials or assembled parts or products for defects and deviation from specifications. Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products and recommend necessary corrective actions.

    Job Description

    • Develop and determine all standards to perform inspection and tests on all procedures and oversee all testing methods and maintain high standards of quality for all processes.
    • Review quality of all materials at site and ensure compliance to all project specifications and quality, collaborate with department for all material procurement and maintain quality of materials.
    • Ensures that MMIS quality management standards, as outlined in the MMIS Quality Control Manual are effectively implemented.
    • Supervise effective implementation of all test and inspection schedule and ensure adherence to all procedures
    • Coordinate with various teams to perform quality audits on processes.
    • Coordinate with the consultant’s representative and project manager for inspection and meeting about quality problems including the closure of Non-Compliance Report.
    • Report to the Project Coordinator, control, and monitor all activities related to Quality management system(QMS)
    • Take care of QA/QC documents of the entire project including certificates, calibration, test results, inspection requests, non-compliance reports and site instruction/observations, permanent materials delivered and other QA/QC documents.
    • Responsible for the closure of Non-conformance, NCR and Site Instruction.
    • Develop method statement for the activity including risk assessment and job safety environmental analysis and Inspection Test Plan and Checklist based on specifications of the project.
    • Acts as liaison with regulatory agencies, subcontractors and/or internal departments on quality related matters as required.
    • Evaluate internal processes and ensure they operation is with alignment with company goals.
    • Issues reports to stakeholders and project manager regarding quality deficiencies and remediation requirements
    • Perform any other duties as assignment by management.

    Minimum Educational Qualification & Professional Experience

    • HND/ B.Sc. /MSc. in Mechanical, Engineering or other relevant qualifications from a reputable higher institution of learning.
    • Minimum of 5 years post-graduation experience with at least 2 years relevant experience in quality assurance and control in either project engineering or mechanical engineering industry.
    • Project Management certifications will be an added advantage
    • Membership of Professional bodies e.g. COREN, NSE,
    • Project Management Certification will an added advantage
    • Professional training certifications such Quality, Health & Safety (QHSE), Quality Management System (QMS) etc. would be an added advantage.

    Required skills:

    • Sounds understanding and interpretation of drawings.
    • Knowledge of basic math and computer
    • Sound health & physical condition
    • Knowledge of key processes and phases in Engineering (HVAC)
    • Proficient in creating and understanding a planning schedule and work break down structure
    • Good knowledge of material, equipment, logistics, storage and security
    • Ability to make quick and tough decisions-
    • Good communication skills
    • Strong ability to motivate, influence, negotiate and manage contractors-

    • Supervise the creation of drawing specification on each service such as HVAC, Lighting Systems, Fire fighting and RAID, General Plumbing, Water supply etc. based on client requirement and industry standard.
    • Proffering solutions to client specific situations in terms of design.
    • Select appropriate equipment for each service.
    • Resolve design problems.
    • Review and analyse specifications.
    • Specify dimensions, materials, and procedures.
    • Collect details of work from Clients and prepare technical specifications of systems.
    • Ensure effective interpretation of clients requirements and ideas
    • Ensure implementation of design on site in a cost effective manner.

    • Develop strategic planning procedures for all MMIS projects
    • Review and amend drafted drawings.
    • Supervise and approve production of project design calculations.
    • Other duties assigned to you by the Managing Partner

    Requirements

    • B.Sc, B.Tech /M.Sc or HND (or its equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a reputable and accredited higher institution of learning.
    • Minimum of 15 years post NYSC experience working on Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing & Fire Services projects in the site supervision/project.
    • Proficient in the use of design/drafting software such as AutoCAD MEP, REVIT etc
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification will be an added advantage.
    • Must be a registered member of COREN & NSE.
    • Candidate must have previous experience in Project Engineering.
    • Membership & knowledge of ASHRAE Standards and Guidelines will be an added advantage.
