    Business Research and Innovation Analyst

    The Innovation team at Connect Rail is a group of thought leaders, innovation business partners and start-up program managers engaging with internal and external stakeholders to identify, evaluate and deploy ideas and technologies that will continue to revolutionise the Logistics sector - wherever they originate.

    About the role: 

    In the role of Business Innovation Analyst, you’ll be a crucial part of the recently-formed central Innovation team.  You’ll produce insights, help to build out our tools, track our KPIs and provide the brainpower behind our work.  We’re looking for an analytical, commercial and strategic thinker, who is confident with supporting complicated cross-functional projects and operational activities and influencing change across senior stakeholders.  

    What you’ll do: 

    Venture Incubation

    • Analysis of new business initiatives
    • Collaborating with initiative teams in transforming an idea into crystalized business opportunity: formulating business case, defining target markets, clients
    • Defining Minimum Viable Product, assessment of competitive landscape
    • Developing recommendations for further growth options
    • Designing the strategic operating model, establishing required capabilities and optimising incentive structures across markets and within client organisations to deliver strategic objectives.

    Internal consulting

    • Identify, build, and maintain relationships with prospective and existing clients.
    • Acquisition of new clients via all available B2B sales channels
    • Prepare financial models, IMs, business plans, presentations and marketing collateral. 
    • Developing organic growth strategies based on an in-depth understanding of customer needs (‘customer-led growth’);
    • Applying a structured approach to innovation to develop new strategies and propositions;

    Research and Business Analysis

    • Staying abreast of industry developments
    • forecasting anticipated future market trends and the competitive environments in which our clients operate;
    • working with clients to understand and shape strategic options ahead of key investment decisions;
    • developing Research reports and industry briefings
    • Analysis of investment opportunities including financial modeling, valuation and return analysis
    • Market and industry research
    • Due diligence on companies, management, customers, competitors and industries

    HR Analyst; Recruitment and Talent Management

    About the role

    This position will be assisting with the development and implementation of a recruitment/talent acquisition strategy to recruit top talent as well as to create a positive candidate and hiring manager experience. This includes monitoring and evaluation of recruitment and selection practices to identify enhancements and opportunities for improvement.

    Key Job Responsibilities

    • Manage all Talent Acquisition activities including recruitment, selection, classification, position management, and referral activities.
    • Provide advice, consultation and information to managers, supervisors, and employees regarding organizational structures, appropriate staffing patterns, competency model development and utilization, career paths and pathway programs.
    • Conduct job analyses for a wide-range of classifications to document competency models and target proficiency levels necessary for current and future success; document career paths linked to competencies to ensure transparency for employees, job seekers and pathway programs.
    • Develop and validate a variety of job-related test instruments, prepare and post job announcements, review applications, administer and score exams, and post eligible lists.
    • Coordinate processing of personnel transactions, review requests to fill positions, track certification and selection processes, and review and process personal services contracts.
    • Review and analyze job, employee and recruitment data and trends, including demographic data, job analysis questionnaires, job descriptions, classification specifications, and organizational structures, and consult with managerial and supervisory staff to identify attrition risk of pivotal jobs and potential loss of technical and institutional knowledge..
    • Prepare written materials, including reports, standard operating procedures, memos, etc.

    Qualifications and Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree (Msc/MBA will be a significant advantage)
    • Minimum of 3 years’ related experience
    • Exceptional analytical mind-set / business analysis
    • Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills
    • Impact – strong and personable communicator who can inspire client confidence
    • Resilience – able to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances

    Research and Strategy Execution Associate

    Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions

    • Supports the strategic planning process by researching prospective trends, business partners, competitors, emerging technologies, and applications while managing key work streams.
    • Identifies and collects data required for due diligence on strategic assessments, long range plans and potential new products and services as an addition to our portfolio; utilizes these findings to develop a recommendation for next steps.
    • Manages smaller-scale strategic assessments and valuation of new business opportunities and potential threats to sustainability of current business plans.
    • Develops detailed analytical models to support financial, technical and scenario decisions.
    • Increases project exposure from both routine and ordinary to new assessments and smaller-scale strategic decisions with both internal and external contributors. Provides perspective and recommendations for whether to move forward with new initiatives/opportunities.

    Minimum

    • Requires strong knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent interpersonal, leadership, presentation, and collaborative skills to work effectively with teams throughout the organization
    • BS/BA/Msc/MBA in related discipline strongly desired (i.e. Economics, Business, etc.).
    • Prior experience working for a management consulting firm, investment bank, corporate strategy department, or in equity research
    • 5 or more years of experience required in related field
