  • Nigeria has never won a gold medal in 15 participations at the World Athletics Championship and has only won 2 gold medals in athletics in 16 participations at the Olympics. The challenge isn't the availability of talents but of administration, planning, funding and dedication.

With an estimated population of 180 million, approximately sixty (60) times the population of Jamaica that is presently dominating athletics in both male and female categories, statistically, Nigeria should be winning more gold medals at international competitions.
