    Financial Controller

     

    Our client is a multinational manufacturing company with subsidiaries in Ghana and Nigeria. They urgently require the services of suitably qualified professionals for the role of Civil Engineer for their Nigeria branch.

    JOB PURPOSE/CORE FUNCTIONS
    Leading and managing the accounting and reporting function, the Financial Controller will ensure robust and reliable controls across the business.  He will need to produce meaningful and insightful reporting that is both appropriate for the business and ensure it is delivered in an accurate and timely manner. The role takes direct responsibility for ledgers, all aspects of management reporting, completion of statutory accounts and managing the liaison with external auditors.

    OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Financial Planning and Management

    • Preparation of budgets, forecasts and business plans and continued monitoring and review of performance against them to enable robust reporting of variances to the management.

    Finance, Banking & Bonds

    • Prudent Finance management for the company with proper accounting and systematic reporting of activities and its analysis, being strong in all Commercial and Financial aspects.
    • Negotiate best financing deals with Banks and Financial Institutions for competitive rates and charges for working capital as well as public issues and fund raising through Bonds/IPO.
    • Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of the Business unit.
    • Effectively manage the working capital components of the company with specific attention to stock, debtors and cash balances
    • To assist in formulating periodic reports to the Audit Committee explaining the processes adopted and undertaken by management to keep under regular review the effectiveness of internal controls covering financial, operational & compliance controls
    • Play an active role in assisting management in the risk assessment process and embedding a risk management culture throughout the organization
    • Manage financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements.
    • Manage the preparation of financial outlooks and financial forecasts.
    • Provide relevant and timely financial information to the Management to enable a balanced and objective assessment of the company’s strategy and objectives

    Preparation of Accounts

    • Ensure preparation of timely and accurate monthly accounts and reports for operational management
    • Responsible for all journals and final GL balances including review of month end balance sheet reconciliations and control accounts
    • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the accounting records and financial systems
    • Production of statutory accounts for the company as and when required in accordance with the relevant accounting principles and the legislation of the local statutory authority.
    • Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget.
    • Direct and coordinate debt financing and debt service payments.
    • Manage the preparation of the official annual report of actual revenues, transfers, and expenses.
    • Overseeing monthly processing of payroll and payments to employees.

    General

    • Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
    • Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the department’s goals and objectives.
    • Review and update, in line with good practice, the company’s internal control environment and produce a Controls and Procedures manual for review and adoption by the management
    • Active management of overheads whilst seeking out areas for efficiencies for savings
    • Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisers, brokers, bankers and other parties as directed by the MD/management
    • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary reporting requirements.
    • Keep key stakeholders up to date on progress against key milestones
    • Ensure management is kept informed of industry developments which are relevant to the operation of an efficient finance function

    QUALIFICATION:

    • ICAN /ACCA with 12 – 18 years of experience
    • Previous experience of working at group level at a senior  position in the hierarchy.
    • Strong and demonstrated experience of MIS / Accounting / Audit / Budget and Cash flow analysis.
    • Strong analytical ability to generate meaningful conclusions from multiple and complex data sources

    Civil Engineer

     

    Our client is a multinational manufacturing company with subsidiaries in Ghana and Nigeria. They urgently require the services of suitably qualified professionals for the role of Civil Engineer for their Nigeria branch.

    JOB PURPOSE/CORE FUNCTIONS

    Perform Civil engineering duties in planning, designing, overseeing construction and later maintenance of the building structures and other facilities in respect of a manufacturing factory for the production of PET chips.

    OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

    1.Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography,  and other topographical or geologic data to plan the project in consultation with the project manager.
    2. Discuss and analyze the construction plan and associated requirements with the project manager and other professionals.
    3. Analyzing survey, mapping and material-testing data using appropriate computer modelling software.
    4. Drawing up blueprints, using computer aided package (CAD)
    5. Judging whether project is workable by assessing materials, costs and time requirements in consultation with the Project Manager.
    6. Assessing the environmental impact and risks connected to project.
    7. Preparing bids for tenders, and reporting to clients, public agencies and planning bodies
    8. Managing, directing and monitoring progress during each phase of the project and do valuations
    9. Direct construction, operations, and maintenance activities at the project site.
    10. Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labour to determine project feasibility.
    11. Direct or participate in surveying to lay out installations and establish reference points, grades, and elevations to guide the construction.
    12. Conduct independent test of soils and materials to determine the adequacy and strength offoundations, concrete, asphalt, or steel and compare it with the contractors report, submit findings to Project Manager, based upon the company’s specifications.
    13. Provide technical advice regarding design, construction, or programmodifications and structural designsas per the current industry standards, to the Project Manager.
    14. Making sure sites/construction meet legal guidelines, and health and safety requirements, as applicable at all times.

    A) QUALIFICATIONS

    1.  BE in Civil Engineering.
    2.  Any Project Management Course (Preferable)
    3.  Qualified Auto CAD Professional
    4.  Hands on experience as a Quantity Surveyor

    B) RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

    1. At least 15 years experience in construction in Manufacturing industry with 5 years in Real Estate Company (High Rise Building).
    2. Exposure to a Green Field project in manufacturing industry.
