    Bayer CropScience (BCS), with its highly effective products, pioneering innovations and keen customer focus, holds global leadership positions in crop protection and non-agricultural pest control. The company also has major activities in seeds and crop plants with genetically optimized properties. 
    It is structured into six operational business units: four regional units for the  Crop Protection business plus the  Environmental Science and  BioScience units.

    Business Development Manager


    1. Position purpose

    • Under the supervision of BCS Country Group Head WCA steers the BCS Crop Protection business in Nigeria in order to grow the sales and maximize the short & long term profitability those in respect of compliance and company rules
    • Establish a local  Ex-stock business in Nigeria and relevant commercial policy and business coverage
    • Increase turnover with 3 national distributors
    • Build up  and manage a dedicated sales force ( 20 FTE’s )

    2. Major tasks and responsibilities of position

    • Responsibility of BCS customers portfolio (distributors, agro dealers, commercial farms , influencers )  by insuring and optimising the new setup of the distribution maximising integrated short and long term profitability.
    • Develop good face to face relationship with customers in order to achieve sales objectives and new product developments, looking for client’s satisfaction.
    • Support and implement financial marketing tools policy and credit management
    • Contribute to develop crops solutions and services on selected crops and segments
    • Identification and selection of partners of choice representing the best  mid and long term potential
    • Negotiation of local distribution agreements within BCS compliances processes and regulations
    • Set up of commercial terms and conditions (discounts, promotions, rebates and payment terms ) adapted to crop segments  requirements allowing adequate remuneration for our partners
    • Constant supervision of sales and items portfolio based on strategy, rotation, volumes and economic contribution
    • Product supply and sales  forecasting
    • Implementation of Loyalty program
    • Assist Marketing Manager for surveys, action plans, product  launches
    • Participation to product price positioning
    • Coordination of launch, events organisation ( fair , exhibition …)
    • Set up of management principles tools allowing collaborators actions planning (weekly planning, monthly report, etc...)
    • Preparation and execution of monthly business meetings
    • Definition of training actions for the sales force and the means allowing collaborators development
    • Regular visits to the different districts in order to check the market environment and verify colleagues work quality
    • Continual evaluation of the collaborators to identify possible gaps or flinching’s
    • Set up of sales force computerization with IT
    • Control and follow up of clients orders, prices lists and risk situations
    • Follow up payments situation with credit management Department
    • Prepare  business monthly report and dashboard with controlling department

    Desired Skills and Experience

    • Confirmed experience in sales ,marketing could be a plus
    • Agriculture degree or 5 years’ experience in the sector
    • Good knowledge about the market and the industry
    • Management skills
    • Planning and reporting skills
    • Advanced computer skills
    • Analytical and strategic thinking with a good pragmatic approach
    • Communication & negotiation skills, persuasiveness and diplomacy
    • Flexibility, ability to anticipate in an unstable environment
    • Ability to handle critical situations
    • Languages:  English , French could be a plus

    Development and Registration Manager


    1. Position Purpose

    • Design and implement together with Head of Development & Regulatory Manager WCA appropriate Development & Registration processes.
    • Develop, maintain and defend the existing authorizations ,obtain new  product registrations in respect of  established planning  with respect to the BCS strategy and  company projects management processes.
    • Obtain new product registrations in respect of established planning in line with BCS strategy and  company projects management processes.
    • Provide product stewardship and product defence when appropriate.
    • Manage day to day trials work in cooperation with local research institutes in the area.
    • Collect and computerize technical data in AD systems.

    2. Major tasks and responsibilities of position

      • Develop short and mid-term strategy development plan for Nigeria together with Line Manager as well as the marketing and Sales managers
      • Establish annual budgets for fields trials, technical & stewardship expenses.
      • Plan and order samples for small and large field trials
      • Manage internal tools
    • Submit and defend files to the registration authorities
    • Define local trials protocols in relation with Line manager Development & Regulatory Manager WCA, technical development manager and / or Agronomic Development department
    • Set up and follow up development contracts with research institute or distributor in connection with BCS legal department
    • Supervise experimental trials to evidence compliance with standards and legal norms in Nigeria
    • Collect and compile  biological results for files registration
    • Check conformity of registration application files according to local requirements
    • Write down and control technical elements on the labels (instructions for use, recommendation, precautions, sell – by date)
    • Ensure products re-registration, submitting regularly new information & arguments.
    • Organise and implement QHSE and product Stewardship action plan in close cooperation with  HQ
    • Ensure that BCS procedures regarding technical & environmental issues are respected by the customers and end users
    • Implement GAP for each products and define guidelines
    • Analyse discrepancies & give recommendations in case of non compliance
    • Organise information and training on Product safe use ( workers exposures, application equipment, …) for trainers and farmers
    • Inform & train distributors marketing & sales force and staff extension in Nigeria concerning technical performance of BCS products
    • Visit regularly the key sales territories in WA to communicate on BCS  research innovation’s
    • Create communication kits & supports on technical aspects of the products for distributor sales force and staff extension
    • Coordinate and follow up tests, demonstrations and crop platforms for producers growers associations,  commercial farms agricultural companies, partners & authorities, in order to support integrated offer added value and demonstrate profitability improvement for en users
    • Set up events & training each season for the clients in WA with scientists and opinion leaders, in collaboration with marketing department, to convey crop protection products good use
    • Communicate on technical aspects of the products in fairs and events
    • Represent BCS facing local authorities concerning product technical aspects & claims
    • Set up privileged relations with respective authorities to facilitate registration process & BCS product recommendations, as well as with opinion leaders and important users
    • Represent BCS in crop protection organisation concerning registration & technical issues
