    Technical Specialist - Knowledge Leadership

    Contract Type: Fixed Term
    Duration: 36 Months

    Job Description

    • We are seeking two Technical Specialists in the Knowledge Leadership (KL) team to support with the implementation of multiple research, evaluation, learning, and knowledge management activities related to GAIN’s efforts to digitize fortification quality and strengthen enabling environments under the digital QA/QC project. 
    • These roles are offered on a full time, fixed term contract of up to 3.5 years, subject to funding and can be based in any of the following GAIN offices: Dhaka, Bangladesh, Abuja, Nigeria or New Delhi, India.

    About the Role

    • Under supervision of the Research Advisor and the Senior Project Manager and working with staff from relevant programmatic areas across GAIN, the Technical Specialists will manage a range of tasks related to program support (research, evaluation, and knowledge management activity) and support the development of learning agendas.
    • This will include the integration of implementation research, program process and impact evaluation and the translation of that evidence for decision making among diverse audiences. 

    Specific Responsibilities include:

    • Designing and implementing the research, evaluation, learning, and knowledge management activities under the digital QA/QC project
    • Supporting the implementation of high-quality, technically sound research activities in alignment with GAIN and other relevant research good practice guidelines
    • Carrying out literature reviews, stakeholder consultations, evidence synthesis, and other desk activities from development through to implementation
    • Supporting in-country field implementation of research, evaluation, learning, and knowledge management activities, including visiting study sites and interacting with project partners to ensure timely and quality progress.
    • Carrying out rigorous analyses on quantitative and qualitative data and develop data visualizations
    • Contributing to the development of project reports and other knowledge products
    • Supporting periodic and donor reporting on the results frameworks and alignment with monitoring systems
    • Supporting the KL and LSFF teams to liaise with partners on research and other project activities to ensure a smooth and appropriate collaboration.
    • Providing technical support to other programming areas as needed.

    About You
    Education:

    • Minimum Master’s Level Training In Nutrition, Public Health, Agriculture or other relevant field

    To be considered for this role, you will need to meet our criteria that focuses on relevant skills and experience, including:

    • Sound professional experience in relevant research, program monitoring and/or evaluation, and knowledge mobilization areas in nutrition, public health, or food systems (or closely related domains)
    • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing research related to nutrition, public health, agriculture, and/or relevant domains, ideally including field data collection such as surveys
    • Experience working with both quantitative and qualitative or mixed methods research would be an advantage
    • Experience with data analysis, visualization and reporting
    • Experience working across disciplines and in coordination with multiple partners preferred Understanding of gender dynamics in low- and middle-income countries as they related to food production and choices is an asset
    • Strong communication and cultural competency skills to work in multicultural environments.

    Salary
    N8,923,728 - N10,183,104 per annum, dependent on experience.

    Communications Associate

    Contract Type: Fixed Term
    Duration: 24 Months

    Job Description

    • We seeking a highly talented Communication Associate to organise and manage the internal and external communications activities of the GAIN Nigeria country office portfolio. 
    • This role will be based out of GAIN Nigeria's office in Abuja and is offered on a 2 years' fixed term contract (subject to funding).

    About the Role

    • Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Head of Policy & Advocacy, and in close collaboration with the GAIN global communications team through Communications Manager – Country Programmes, the post holder will be tasked with fostering better understanding and support to GAIN’s operational work as well as make sure that GAIN’s information, advice, and guidance effectively reaches key audiences to increase uptake of nutritious and safe diets.
    • The successful candidate will be a key resource, supporting the GAIN Nigeria Team by driving external and internal communications, and supporting learning across projects.

    Role Specifics include:

    • Developing media plans to coordinate outreach to public and media and messaging to be consistent in with GAIN Nigeria brand
    • Managing media relations and deliver media briefing kits including press releases or live streaming press conferences and after event transcript files for high level selected milestones
    • Supporting with regular monitoring activities and reporting to ensure maximum impact and continuous improvement of country communication efforts
    • Strengthening and positioning the digital communication at country level through targeted digital engagement and positioning
    • Ensuring that the GAIN Nigeria’s digital media platforms and tools (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) are well maintained, updated, and aligned to GAIN corporate digital communications
    • Liaising with GAIN global communications to ensure GAIN Nigeria website page is regularly updated
    • Building internal communications capacity by providing timely and effective information on key developments and initiatives to GAIN Nigeria staff
    • Developing quality media advocacy/communications materials (e.g. flyers, leaflets, fact sheets, success stories, media kits, photographs, video clips, documentaries, radio programs etc)
    • Other relevant duties as assigned as assigned by the Head of Policy and Advocacy.

    About You
    Education:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations Or Journalism, International Relations, Development Studies, or similar relevant qualification/academic background / equivalent work experience.
    • You must be a self-starter with proven professional experience of working in a similar communications focused role, preferably with an NGO or international organisation.
    • You will be an effective communicator and be able to use this skill to develop positive relationships to motivate the teams and external stakeholders.
    • In addition, you will have social media and digital content creation skills alongside proven experience working with country teams, Government, UN, development partners, media, and research agencies. 
    • You must be confident and fully conversant in business English, both written and verbal. 
    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Programmes (Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) is an additional asset. 

    Salary
    N6,897,828 - N7,876,788 per annum, dependent on experience.
