    Storekeeper (Construction)

    Location: Akwa Ibom, Calabar - Cross River and Ile-Ife, Osun

    Job Summary

    • The Storekeeper is responsible for managing, receiving, recording, issuing, and safeguarding all materials, tools, and equipment used in the construction site.
    • The role ensures that materials are available for project use when needed, properly documented, and that losses, wastage, or theft are minimized.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Receive all construction materials, verify quantities and specifications against delivery notes and purchase orders.
    • Inspect materials for damage or non-conformance and report discrepancies to the Procurement or Site Engineer.
    • Label, store, and arrange materials properly to prevent deterioration or mix-ups.
    • Maintain accurate stock records, including daily material receipts, issues, and balances.
    • Prepare and submit periodic material stock reports to the Project or Procurement Department.
    • Issue construction materials to site teams based on approved material requisition forms.
    • Maintain a register/log of materials issued, returned, or transferred to other sites.
    • Ensure that all receipts and issues are properly documented and signed by authorized personnel.
    • Keep records updated both manually and electronically (if applicable).
    • Conduct regular physical stock checks and reconcile with inventory records.
    • Identify slow-moving, excess, or obsolete items and report to management for action.
    • Monitor material consumption patterns to help prevent wastage and overstocking.
    • Enforce proper inventory control procedures to ensure accountability.
    • Maintain a clean, well-organized, and safe store area at all times.
    • Ensure that hazardous materials (e.g., chemicals, fuel) are properly labeled and stored.
    • Comply with site safety, health, and environmental regulations.
    • Liaise with Procurement and Site Engineers for timely replenishment of materials.
    • Support logistics for material movement between the central store and site locations.
    • Assist in the preparation of material consumption reports for project cost tracking.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • SSCE or OND in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
    • Minimum of 2–5 years experience as a Storekeeper or Materials Officer in a civil construction environment.
    • Familiarity with construction materials (cement, reinforcement, aggregates, fittings, etc.).
    • Knowledge of inventory software or Excel-based stock management systems is an advantage.
