    Senior Technologist II

    Nile University of Nigeria is a fast-growing private higher education institution located in Abuja.     We are currently looking to engage a highly competent and result-oriented Laboratory Technologist with strong personal & professional integrity to join our dynamic Human Anatomy Department.

    Role: Senior Technologist II, Department of Human Anatomy

    Responsibilities

    • Oversee the development and daily operation of the anatomy laboratory and provide general teaching & research support.
    • Perform laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations.
    • Carry out routine tasks accurately and following strict methodologies to carry out analyses.
    • Construct, maintain and operate standard laboratory equipment, for example centrifuges, titrators, pipetting machines and pH meters.
    • Maintain the anatomy laboratory, including donated biological materials and equipment.
    • Review, schedule, and maintain laboratory safety guidelines and procedures.
    • Assist with the development, updates, or modifications of materials or delivery methods, in order to make them appropriate for the learning outcomes required, as agreed with academic staff, and to fit the learning style appropriate to the students.
    • Train medical students in laboratory skills needed to finish their coursework.
    • Check daily laboratory ventilation, cold storage, and lab room temperature in the anatomy laboratory to minimize downtime.
    • Oversee the collection and disposal of non-human specimens according to standard procedures & regulations.
    • Maintain an inventory of all equipment and supplies to monitor the need and supply levels.

    Qualification & Experience

    • B.Tech, SLT, BMLS, HND in a related field.
    • At least 6 years of cognate/practical experience working in a reputable laboratory.
    • Proper and safe use of audiovisual equipment, smart board, microphones and a variety of dissection tools.
    • Well-developed interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, excellent time management and organizational skills.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Ability to prioritize and accurately complete tasks, work independently and meet deadlines.
    • Affiliation with a Professional body
    • Must be adept in the use of MS Office Packages

    Responsibilities

    • Provide professional and confidential counselling to students and staff, for a range of personal, social, professional, academic, career and financial concerns.
    • Recognise and appropriately take care of individual students' socio-emotional challenges
    • Coordinate and facilitate students’ groups for improving social skills or addressing behavioral challenges
    • Complete regular reports for services provided, such as session notes and incident reports
    • Consult with families and staff to highlight students’ needs and discuss strategies necessary for improved social and academic performance
    • Collaborate with teaching staff to determine how best to meet individual students' needs
    • Work with school faculty and staff to develop plans for maintaining the well-being of individual students and of the student population as a whole
    • Assist students in understanding and overcoming social, behavioral, or academic problems
    • Provide group or individual counseling to address the needs of students
    • Evaluate students’ academic/ career plans and assist them in setting realistic goals
    • Monitor and observe students to identify and address personal, emotional, or social issues
    • Arrange and schedule orientation programmes and internships

    Qualification & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Psychology, Guidance & Counselling or related degree.
    • Possesses minimum five (5) years of work experience as a Counselor in an academic/ learning environment.
    • Possesses experience working with students.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
    • Detail-oriented with excellent time-management skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Perceptive intuition and decision-making skills.
    • Remarkable professionalism and good work ethics.
    • Knowledge of multiple counseling approaches.
    • Affiliation with a Professional body
    • Must be adept in the use of MS Office Packages
