    Senior Exploration and Mining Officer

    Job Summary

    • The core functions of Exploration and Mining Department are to identify and evaluate resource deposits, plan extraction processes, ensure regulatory compliance and environmental sustainability, manage safety and technological advancements, and foster community relations for responsible and efficient mining operations. A senior officer working in this department would support the smooth operation of mining activities by handling documentation, coordination, and compliance in addition to other technical functions.
    • The Department Senior Officer shall support the HOD in managing the Mines Engineering, Geology and Survey Units. Shall support the HOD to ensure operational efficiency by managing geological data, regulatory compliance, safety protocols, stakeholder communication, and resource logistics, while supporting technical processes such as exploration mapping and mineral evaluation.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities

    Qualifications

    • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., COMEG, NIOMCO, or certification in Mining/Exploration Project Management, HSE, or GIS mapping) are highly desirable.
    • A postgraduate qualification in Mining Management, Geoscience, Environmental Management, or MBA (Operations/Project Management focus) will be an added advantage.

    Minimum Years of Experience:

    • Collaborate with HOD to organise departmental-level onboarding of new hires, including provision of all tools, systems and work requirements.

    Governance & Baseline Competencies:

    • Reporting: The department senior officer shall report directly to the HOD of the department and collaborate with ECSEC Admin on all admin-related matters.
    • Admin Structure: The department senior officer shall be considered as Intermediate Senior Management.
    • Baseline Competencies: Shall have understanding of document management principles, understanding of project management, ability to prepare and present management reports and understanding of departmental operations.

    Qualifications

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technical Management, Mechanical/Electrical Technology, Business Administration, Facilities Management, or a related technical or administrative discipline is required.
    • Possession of professional certifications such as: CMMS certification (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) CEM (Certified Equipment Manager) PMP (Project Management Professional)
    • NEBOSH or other health and safety certifications is highly desirable.
    • Postgraduate qualification (e.g., MBA, MSc in Engineering Management, or Facilities and Equipment Administration) will be considered an added advantage, especially for those supporting strategic operations and high-value asset oversight.
    • A minimum of 5 years professional experience in a technical services, maintenance coordination, facilities management, or equipment administration role, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or technical administrative position.
    • Hands-on experience in working with technical departments, maintenance teams, equipment service providers, or asset management units in a structured corporate, industrial, or institutional setting is essential.

    Salary
    N600,000 - N700,000 Monthly.
