    Project Accountant

    Job Description

    • The Project Accountant will be responsible for managing and monitoring all financial activities related to the Project.
    • The role ensures accurate budgeting, expenditure tracking, cost control, and financial reporting.
    • Working closely with the project manager, procurement, logistics, and site teams, the Project Accountant will maintain transparency, financial discipline, and compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
    • The role plays a critical function in ensuring proper financial planning, accountability, and decision support throughout the project lifecycle.

    Key Responsibilities
    Financial Management and Reporting:

    • Prepare and maintain the project budget, cost forecasts, and cash flow analyses.
    • Track and monitor daily project expenses against approved budgets.
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management.
    • Assist in preparing budget variance reports and highlight areas requiring corrective action.
    • Maintain up-to-date financial records and ensure accurate posting into accounting systems.

    Cost Control and Accountability:

    • Verify and reconcile expenses, purchase orders, delivery notes, and invoices.
    • Ensure all financial transactions comply with approved financial policies and project cost-control guidelines.
    • Monitor site spending, reconcile petty cash, and review financial claims submitted by site departments.
    • Provide financial insights to optimize cost efficiency and minimize waste.

    Procurement and Payment Coordination:

    • Work closely with procurement and logistics teams to verify and validate supplier invoices.
    • Support the processing of vendor payments after confirming delivery and documentation accuracy.
    • Maintain a register of suppliers, contracts, and payment schedules.
    • Assist in maintaining records of commitments, accruals, and outstanding liabilities.

    Compliance, Audit, and Documentation:

    • Ensure full compliance with internal financial controls, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Maintain proper filing and documentation of all financial transactions for audit readiness.
    • Support internal and external audit processes by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documents.
    • Ensure adherence to company policies on approval limits, asset management, and financial accountability.

    Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Work closely with the project manager, finance department, and site leadership to ensure financial alignment.
    • Provide timely financial updates and risks to management.
    • Participate in project review meetings and contribute to financial decision-making.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Finance or related field.
    • 7–10 years’ experience in accounting, preferably in construction, engineering, healthcare, or infrastructure projects.
    • Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA or equivalent) is an added advantage.
    • Strong knowledge of project accounting, budgeting, and cost control.
    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, SAP, or ERP-based systems).
    • Strong analytical, reconciliation, and reporting skills.

    Laboratory Technician (Construction Materials Testing)

    Role Summary

    • The LaboratoryTechnician will be responsible for conducting material testing, quality control verification, and laboratory analysis to support the successful execution of the Construction Project.
    • The role ensures that all construction materials including concrete, aggregates, soil, steel, and asphalt meet required technical standards and specifications.
    • The Lab Technician provides critical data for engineering decision-making, supports compliance, and strengthens technical control across all site construction workstreams.

    Key Responsibilities
    Material Testing and Quality Verification:

    • Conduct routine and specialized tests on construction materials (e.g., soil tests, slump tests, compressive strength tests, sieve analysis, moisture content, concrete cubes).
    • Verify material conformity with approved technical specifications and standards (BS, ASTM, EN, etc.).
    • Prepare and cure concrete test samples and maintain curing logs.
    • Inspect and test aggregates, cement, steel reinforcement, and other construction materials delivered to site.
    • Provide daily test results and highlight deviations from required standards.

    Laboratory Operations and Documentation:

    • Maintain a well-organized and functional site laboratory.
    • Keep accurate laboratory records, test logs, calibration reports, and tracking sheets.
    • Ensure all testing equipment is calibrated, serviced, and functioning correctly.
    • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly laboratory test summary reports.
    • Maintain traceable records for all laboratory samples and test certificates.

    Site Monitoring and Technical Support:

    • Conduct field tests during construction activities (e.g., compaction tests, concrete pouring tests).
    • Monitor and verify concrete mixing, batching, and placement procedures.
    • Document test observations with photographs and field notes.
    • Assist site engineers in verifying work quality through real-time testing and feedback.
    • Raise early alerts for any material or workmanship non-conformities.

    Compliance, Safety and Technical Control:

    • Ensure compliance with project QA/QC requirements and site quality plans.
    • Maintain strict adherence to laboratory safety procedures and handling of materials.
    • Support implementation of construction quality management systems.
    • Escalate non-compliant materials or test failures to the Project Director and QC Engineer.
    • Participate in technical audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.

    Coordination and Stakeholder Interface:

    • Work closely with the Quality Control Engineer, Structural Engineer, and Contractor’s site team.
    • Coordinate with suppliers and external laboratories for specialized tests.
    • Provide timely clarifications on test procedures and results when requested.
    • Support communication between the site team, consultants, and OEMs regarding material performance.

    Qualification and Experience

    • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, Materials Science, or a related field.
    • 10+ years experience in construction materials testing or site laboratory work.
    • Hands-on experience with concrete, soil, and aggregate testing equipment.
    • Understanding of relevant construction testing standards (BS, ASTM, AASHTO).
    • Familiarity with construction quality control procedures and documentation.

    Technical Assistant (Construction)

    Role Summary

    • The Technical Assistant (Construction) will provide technical, analytical, and coordination support to the Project Director for the effective planning and execution of the Ibom International Hospital Construction Project.
    • The role ensures seamless integration of architectural, structural, MEP, biomedical, and site activities, supports decision-making, and strengthens project control across all technical workstreams.

    Key Responsibilties
    Technical Coordination:

    • Review architectural, structural, MEP, civil, and biomedical-related drawings and highlight conflicts or inconsistencies.
    • Maintain up-to-date design registers, revision logs, submittal/approval matrices, and RFI trackers.
    • Coordinate drawing reviews between consultants and contractors, ensuring timely submission and feedback.
    • Integrate OEM equipment requirements into the design and ensure technical alignment.
    • Support the Project Director in validating design intent and technical decisions.

    Support to the Project Director:

    • Prepare structured technical briefs, summaries, and decision notes.
    • Develop daily and weekly reports covering design progress, site updates, risks, and pending items.
    • Draft and circulate technical meeting minutes and follow-up action lists.
    • Attend internal and external meetings, representing the Project Director when delegated.
    • Track timelines and deliverables from consultants and contractors and escalate delays promptly.

    Site Monitoring & Technical Verification:

    • Conduct routine site visits to verify that execution aligns with approved drawings and specifications.
    • Document site progress with annotated photographs, logs, and deviation reports.
    • Monitor piling, foundation works, reinforcement, concrete pouring, and structural works.
    • Identify potential technical risks and raise early alerts to the Project Director and PMO.

    Workflow & Documentation Management:

    • Maintain organized technical documentation for all design and construction workstreams.
    • Manage RFI flows, technical queries, and submittal cycles to ensure timely resolution.
    • Support updating of construction schedules and technical dashboards with the planning consultant.
    • Ensure all technical instructions, directives, and approvals are recorded and communicated appropriately.

    Stakeholder & Consultant Interface:

    • Serve as the first point of technical contact for routine queries from contractors and consultants.
    • Provide clarifications, seek additional information when required, and escalate decisions to the Project Director.
    • Ensure smooth technical communication among architecture, engineering, biomedical, and site teams.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
    • 3–7 years experience in construction, design coordination, project engineering, or technical roles.
    • Experience with complex or MEP-intensive building projects (hospital, industrial, or commercial) is an advantage.
    • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings across disciplines.
    • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and engineering fundamentals.
    • Working knowledge of MS Office, AutoCAD/Bluebeam (basic), and document control systems.

    • External: Architectural, Structural, MEP Consultants; Biomedical/OEM teams; Contractor’s site engineers; Regulatory agencies (as applicable).
