    Pharmacy Technician

    Job Summary:

    • The Pharmacy Technician plays a critical role in supporting licensed pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medications, inventory management, and ensuring accurate and efficient pharmacy operations. This role ensures patient safety, promotes medication compliance, and adheres to best practices and regulatory standards in pharmaceutical care.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Dispensing & Medication Handling

    • Assist in the accurate preparation and dispensing of prescribed medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
    • Label, package, and record medications accurately for inpatients and outpatients.
    • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in medication orders and patient information.

    Inventory and Stock Control

    • Monitor and manage stock levels of drugs and pharmaceutical supplies.
    • Assist with inventory audits, expiry tracking, and reordering of stock.
    • Ensure storage of medications in compliance with safety and temperature guidelines.

    Patient and Staff Interaction

    • Counsel patients on proper usage, storage, and potential side effects of prescribed medications when delegated by the pharmacist.
    • Support nurses and doctors by answering medication-related queries.
    • Assist in medication reconciliation during patient admissions and discharges.

    Regulatory Compliance & Documentation

    • Maintain accurate and updated pharmacy records, including controlled drug registers.
    • Comply with hospital protocols and national drug laws as set by regulatory bodies (e.g., PCN, NAFDAC).
    • Participate in routine audits and inspections by regulatory bodies.

    Operational Support & Hygiene

    • Clean and maintain equipment, shelves, and workspaces in accordance with infection control standards.
    • Prepare sterile and non-sterile compounds when required.
    • Participate in routine checks of emergency drug trays and crash carts.

    Professional Development

    • Attend periodic training and continuing education programs to update knowledge and skills.
    • Keep up to date with new drug information and pharmacy technologies.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    • Diploma in Pharmacy Technician Studies or related field from a recognized institution
    • Current license with the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN)
    • Minimum of 2–3 years experience in a hospital or clinical pharmacy setting
    • Proficiency in pharmacy management systems/software is an added advantage
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work under pressure and in a team-based environment

    Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife

    Key Responsibilities:

    Clinical Duties:

    • Provide direct nursing care to patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
    • Deliver antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care in accordance with midwifery best practices.
    • Monitor maternal and fetal well-being, identify complications, and intervene appropriately.
    • Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately and safely.
    • Assist in surgical and emergency interventions where necessary.
    • Maintain accurate and timely nursing records and documentation.
    • Uphold infection prevention and control practices at all times.

    Patient and Family Engagement:

    • Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatments, and preventive care.
    • Offer emotional and psychological support, especially during childbirth and recovery processes.
    • Promote patient rights, dignity, and confidentiality.

    Team Collaboration and Supervision:

    • Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, physiotherapists, laboratory staff, and pharmacists.
    • Supervise and mentor junior nurses and nursing assistants.
    • Participate actively in ward rounds and care plan discussions.

    Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement:

    • Participate in audits, clinical reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
    • Adhere strictly to hospital protocols, national nursing and midwifery guidelines.
    • Maintain professional competency through continuous professional development (CPD).

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    Minimum Educational Qualification:

    • Registered Nurse (RN) Certification
    • Registered Midwife (RM) Certification
    • Valid practicing license from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN)

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 3 years post-qualification clinical experience in both nursing and midwifery.
    • Experience in a multidisciplinary hospital setting is preferred.

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in high-pressure environments
    • Proficient in use of hospital management systems and electronic health records (EHR)
