• We are looking for Medical Officer, with Oncology interest.
• The preferred candidate must have an interest in Oncology.

Duties

• To provide an opinion on patients referred from other units and to liaise with the Consultant Oncologists about these patients’ care in a timely manner.
• To be responsible for the care of patients in the clinic and to liaise with the consultant Oncology in the care of these patients.
• To contribute to quality improvement and sustainability of the organization by participating in quality activities and ensuring flexibility within the role in order to respond to the changing needs of our patients.
• Respond to patients’ medical problems by referring to their history, carrying out diagnosis, treatment, counseling, and referral, where necessary.
• Maintain confidentiality and impartiality at all times.
• Collect, record, and maintain sensitive patient information such as examination results, medical history, and reports.
• Explain procedures or prescribed treatments to patients.
• Promote health education in conjunction with other health professionals.
• Discuss and evaluate new pharmaceutical products with pharmaceutical representatives.
• Keep up-to-date with medical developments, treatment, and medication.
• Any other assigned duties.
• To be on call as directed for Oncology.

Requirements

• Medical Degree {MBBS / MD / MBChB}
• 4 - 5 years post-graduate medical experience.
• Valid practicing license
• Experience in a clinical oncological unit is an added advantage.
• Excellent patient management and interpersonal relationship skills
• Ability to prevent and address stress and burnout
• Motivational communication skills.

Monthly Remuneration
N200,000 - N250,000 (Net).

Duties

• As directed by the molecular lab scientist and management
• Set up, maintain, and verify sterility of laboratory equipment and tools
• Analyze experiment and test results to validate adherence to standards and specifications
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance.
• Monitor tests and procedures and analyze the chemical content of fluids
• Maintain complete and accurate files for all procedures.
• Organize specimen, perform its processing, and complete sample extraction and preservation
• Perform molecular biology, cell culture, and immunoassays, including PCR, western blotting, confocal microscopy, genotyping, flow cytometry, immunostaining, ELISA, next-generation sequencing, RNA scope, etc.
• Perform and document procedures in accordance with SOPs and study protocols.
• Maintain quality control (review of case materials).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree focused in Molecular Biology or related field, with at least 1-year post NYSC experience molecular laboratory experience
• Preferred candidate must have experience with COVID-19 related cases or work in a COVID-19 center.
• MLSCN certified with valid practicing license
• Knowledge of safe laboratory practices.
• Possess ethical and moral attitudes that are necessary for maintaining patients’ confidentiality.

Monthly Remuneration
N80,000 / month.

Duties

• Process biological samples for testing, including tissue, blood, urine, spinal fluid, and gastric juices according to SOP; check for proper patient identification and for correct requisition.
• Perform laboratory procedures following SOPs, including nucleic acid extraction from pathogenic cultures, RT-PCR and qPCR analyses
• Answer inbound calls and respond to client requests according to SOP; provide verbal results, specimen requirements, and CPT codes; send results; triage technical questions to appropriate personnel.
• Summarizing results and reporting findings in electronic format to referring physicians and medical specialists, as well as collaborating on patient care.
• Place outbound calls to clients with STAT results and Critical Values.
• Place outbound calls to clients to obtain complete patient demographics and specimen information.
• Monitor reagents for expiration dates, preparation dates, inventory, and aliquot or prepare as needed.
• Provide technical advice and guidance for the development and/or update of national policies and strategies on the diagnosis of COVID-19 including sample collection, handling, and testing strategies
• Conduct training and supervise laboratory persons involved in COVID-19 testing
• Provide technical support for the strengthening of laboratory capacity and expanding access to molecular biology tests for COVID-19
• Adhering to best practices in medical laboratory sciences and keeping up with advancements in the field.

Requirements

• BSc / MSc / Ph.D. degree with a focus on Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Molecular Biology/Microbiology
• Minimum 3 years of professional laboratory experience in molecular techniques.
• MLSCN certified with a valid practicing license.
• Proven experience working with COVID-19 related cases or in a COVID-19 center or unit.
• Proficiency in electronic health record management systems
• Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
• Exceptional ability in summarizing and reporting test results.
• Extensive experience in collaborating with healthcare providers and specialists.
• Knowledge of best practices and advancements in the field of laboratory sciences.
