    Accountant

    Role Summary

    The Accountant is responsible for accurate day‑to‑day financial operations of the hotel, ensuring timely month‑end close, statutory compliance, payroll accuracy, and delivery of management and statutory reports to support operational and strategic decisions.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Daily Revenue & Cash Control: Reconcile daily takings from Front Office, POS, banqueting and other revenue centres; prepare daily revenue reports and cash deposits. 
    • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process supplier invoices, ensure approvals, schedule payments, manage credit control and debtor follow‑up. 
    • General Ledger & Month‑End Close: Post journals, reconcile GL accounts, prepare trial balance, and support month‑end and year‑end close activities. 
    • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts, variance analysis vs budget, departmental P&Ls, and cash‑flow statements for management review. 
    • Payroll & Employee Costs: Calculate payroll, statutory deductions (PAYE, pension), process payroll payments and reconcile payroll control accounts. 
    • Tax & Statutory Compliance: Ensure timely filing and payment of VAT, corporate taxes, and other statutory returns; coordinate with tax advisors and auditors. 
    • Inventory & Cost Control: Reconcile inventories (F&B, housekeeping), monitor cost of sales, and support cost‑saving initiatives. 
    • Internal Controls & Audit: Maintain and improve internal controls; prepare schedules and support internal/external audits. 
    • Systems & Process: Maintain accounting system (e.g., Oracle Hospitality, M3, or QuickBooks), implement process improvements and ensure data integrity. 

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; ACCA/ICAN/CPA part‑qualified or qualified preferred. 
    • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years in hotel or hospitality accounting or multi‑department retail; experience with hotel PMS and ERP integrations preferred. 

    Technical Skills & Competencies

    • Accounting standards: Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and local tax rules. 
    • Software: Proficient in hotel accounting systems and Excel; experience with Oracle Hospitality, M3, Sage or similar is an advantage. 
    • Soft skills: Attention to detail, analytical mindset, confidentiality, strong communication, and ability to work under month‑end pressure.
