    Legal Officer

    Role Overview

    • We are seeking a versatile, commercially astute, and detail-oriented Legal Officer to provide end-to-end legal support across our real estate and corporate operations. The successful candidate will play a critical role in structuring transactions, ensuring regulatory compliance, mitigating legal risks, and supporting strategic initiatives across the company’s diverse property portfolio.

    Key ResponsibilitiesTransactional & Commercial Advisory

    • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal agreements, including:
    • Land acquisition and property sale agreements
    • Residential and commercial lease agreements
    • Construction and consultancy contracts
    • Joint venture and development agreements
    • Oversee and manage the legal aspects of real estate transactions through to completion.
    • Provide sound legal advice on structuring transactions to protect the company’s interests.

    Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

    • Ensure full compliance with applicable Nigerian real estate laws and regulations, including land use, planning, environmental, and building requirements.
    • Proactively identify legal and regulatory risks across projects and operations, and implement mitigation strategies.
    • Monitor changes in relevant laws and advise management on potential impacts.

    Dispute Resolution & Legal Representation

    • Provide legal support in resolving disputes involving contractors, clients, regulators, and third parties.
    • Liaise with external counsel where required and support litigation or arbitration processes.
    • Negotiate favorable settlements and minimize exposure to legal liabilities.

    Corporate Governance & Advisory

    • Advise management on corporate governance, policy development, and regulatory obligations.
    • Support board and management processes, including preparation of legal documentation and compliance matters.
    • Ensure adherence to internal policies and best practices.

    Estate & Development Advisory

    • Provide legal guidance to estate management teams on resident relations, service agreements, and enforcement of covenants.
    • Support ongoing developments and new projects with legal input on land acquisition, permits, and contractual arrangements.
    • Ensure smooth legal integration of new developments into the company’s portfolio.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and qualification to practice in Nigeria.
    • Up to 10 years total post-call experience, with a minimum of 4 years in real estate law.
    • Strong experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex legal agreements.
    • Solid understanding of Nigerian property law, land documentation, and regulatory processes.
    • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex legal concepts.
    • High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

    • Manage HR audits, documentation, reporting, and record-keeping.
    • Improve and maintain office structures to strengthen organizational effectiveness.

    Social Impact & CSR

    • Coordinate the company’s foundation programs and CSR initiatives to support community engagement.

    Organizational Structure & Policy Development

    • Create, implement, and upgrade HR policies, frameworks, and organizational hierarchies.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc) in Business Administration or related field.
    • Minimum of 10 years proven experience in HR management.
    • Strong ability to link HR deliverables to revenue, profit, and business outcomes.
    • Demonstrated expertise in performance management and KPI development.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and digital HR capabilities.
    • Experience in building HR systems, corporate policies, and organizational structures.

    Qualification

    • B.Sc in Business Administration (required)
    • Professional HR certifications (advantage)
