    Lead, Information Technology

    Purpose of the Job

    • Responsible for planning, development, implementation and performance monitoring of information technology systems across NESCO’s functions and processes, thereby enabling the achievement of its performance objectives and goals.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    The Lead, Information Technology shall therefore be responsible, but not limited, for the following:

    • Provide a company-wide source of expertise on information technology and communications to ensure that managers and staff have the best possible information for effective decision making
    • Contribute to the development of the company’s strategic and business plans, particularly in relation to IT Service Desk and Support, Infrastructure and Network, Cybersecurity, Application Development and Support, and Business Intelligence and Analytics, in support of the company’s mission and core objectives 
    • Oversee the planning, development/procurement, implementation and maintenance of company-wide information and communications systems which enable the company’s functions and processes, within specified timelines, budget and resource requirements 
    • Coordinate and collaborate proactively with other Heads of Departments to understand the requirements for information technology enablement, and make provision for the development/procurement/implementation and maintenance of such application systems 
    • Coordinate and collaborate proactively with other departmental heads to understand training needs of users of different application systems and ensure the provision of adequate user-level training, before, during and after the implementation of information technology application systems 
    • Ensure that all information technology application systems, existing and future procurements operate in and conform to the international standards and norms of governance and security
    • Ensure that all users of any information technology application system operating within the company adhere to the basic minimum requirements with regard to information security and document control 
    • Develop and maintain an operating budget for the department and monitor the implementation of the budget to ensure that financial targets are met
    • Keep abreast of new trends and developments in the area of information technology, in general and industry specific information technology trends in electricity utilities 
    • Direct and supervise the staff of the information technology department to ensure that they are well motivated and receive all necessary training and development to enable them carry out their responsibilities to the required standard 
    • Monitor the department’s performance through key performance measures
    • Ensure provision of adequate resources for various activities in the department
    • Prepare periodic reports for the attention of the Head, Corporate Services 
    • Perform any other tasks as assigned from time to time by the Head, Corporate Services

    Minimum Educational & Professional Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge

    • First degree (B.SC) or H.N.D + PGD and Masters in the same field  in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or any relevant field 
    • Post-Graduate Degree and Professional Certifications is an added advantage
    • Minimum 8 years’ experience in management/ Implementation of IT applications, preferably in a utility company

    Business Intelligence and Analytics Officer

    Purpose of the Job

    • The Business Intelligence and Analytics Officer is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data to provide actionable insights that drive decision-making across the power company. Reporting to the Head of IT, the officer designs and implements data models, dashboards, and reports while ensuring data integrity and alignment with business goals.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    The Business Intelligence and Analytics Officer shall therefore be responsible, but not limited, for the following:

    • Gather, clean, and analyze large datasets from various internal systems (e.g., billing, metering, maintenance) 
    • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics
    • Conduct trend analyses to identify business opportunities, risks, and areas for operational improvement 
    • Design and implement data models and business intelligence (BI) solutions using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or QlikView
    • Collaborate with IT and business teams to create automated processes for data extraction and transformation 
    • Develop predictive models to support revenue forecasting, energy demand prediction, and maintenance planning 
    • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of data used for analysis and reporting 
    • Define and enforce data governance policies and standards in collaboration with the IT team 
    • Work closely with various departments, such as operations, finance, and customer service, to understand their data needs and provide insights to support their objectives
    • Present findings and insights to senior management in a clear and actionable manner 
    • Monitor the performance of key business processes and provide recommendations for optimization 
    • Analyze customer behavior patterns, billing efficiency, and system losses to drive operational improvements
    • Stay updated on the latest BI and analytics technologies and recommend tools and practices to improve the company’s analytics capabilities 
    • Provide training and support to team members on BI tools and techniques 
    • Prepare periodic reports for the attention of the Lead, IT

    Minimum Educational & Professional Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge

    • First degree (B.SC) / H.N.D + PGD and Masters in the same field in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

    Application Development & Support Officer

    Purpose of the Job

    • Responsible for creating, developing, and managing software applications to enhance and support the operations of NESCO.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    The Application Development & Support Officer shall therefore be responsible, but not limited, for the following:

    • Design, test, and implement software applications aligned with business requirements
    • Partner with stakeholders to identify and analyze user needs for new features or application improvements
    • Develop clean, efficient, and scalable code 
    • Prepare and update technical documentation for all developed applications
    • Deliver technical support for current applications, promptly addressing user concerns 
    • Diagnose and resolve application-related issues to reduce downtime and operational disruptions
    • Track and enhance application performance through optimization measures 
    • Safeguard application data by maintaining its security and integrity 
    • Collaborate with IT team members to ensure application development aligns with organizational objectives.

    Cybersecurity Officer

    Purpose of the Job

    • Responsible for safeguarding NESCO’s digital infrastructure by monitoring vulnerabilities, investigating security incidents, and ensuring compliance with industry-specific security standards and regulations.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    The Cybersecurity Officer shall therefore be responsible, but not limited, for the following:

    • Design and enforce robust cybersecurity policies, procedures, and industry-specific best practices for NESCO
    • Integrate security protocols seamlessly into the organization’s IT and Operational Technology (OT) systems 
    • Assess, select, and implement advanced cybersecurity tools, technologies, and frameworks to enhance protection

    Attributes and Competencies

    • Strong understanding of SCADA systems, industrial control systems (ICS), and energy sector technologies 
    • Proficiency in cybersecurity tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and SIEM platforms
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills 
    • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks like NIST, CIS Controls, and COBIT

    Infrastructure and Network Officer

    Purpose of the Job

    • The Infrastructure and Network Officer is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the organization’s IT infrastructure and network systems. The officer ensures high availability, performance, and security of the IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and related systems. Reporting to the Head of IT, this role supports the company's operational and business goals by providing robust and secure IT solutions.

    • Manage and maintain servers, storage systems, virtualization platforms, and cloud infrastructure
    • Monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring uptime and reliability
    • Perform regular backups, disaster recovery tests, and data restoration procedures 
    • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot network systems, including LAN, WAN, and VPNs 
    • Ensure network security by implementing firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and other security measures
    • Manage IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, and VLAN configurations

    • Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent are highly desirable.

    IT Service Desk and Support Officer

    Purpose of the Job

    • The IT Service Desk & Support Officer is responsible for providing technical assistance, troubleshooting, and resolution of IT-related issues within the organization. The role involves managing support tickets, maintaining IT hardware and software, and ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems to support business operations. Reporting to the Head of IT, the officer plays a key role in ensuring employee productivity by minimizing IT-related disruptions.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    The IT Service Desk & Support Officer shall therefore be responsible, but not limited, for the following:

    • Serve as the first point of contact for IT-related queries and issues
    • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner 
    • Provide remote and on-site support for users experiencing IT problems 
    • Record, track, and monitor support tickets in the service desk system to ensure timely resolution
    • Escalate unresolved issues to higher-level technical support teams when necessary
    • Install, configure, and maintain computers, laptops, printers, and other peripherals 
    • Manage software installations, updates, and patches to ensure systems are secure and up-to-date
    • Create, modify, and deactivate user accounts and permissions in Active Directory and other systems

    • Professional certifications such as ITIL Foundation, CompTIA A+, or Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator are highly desirable.
