    Infrastructure and Network Officer

    Purpose of the Job

    • The Infrastructure and Network Officer is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the organization’s IT infrastructure and network systems. The officer ensures high availability, performance, and security of the IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and related systems. Reporting to the Head of IT, this role supports the company's operational and business goals by providing robust and secure IT solutions.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    The Infrastructure & Network Officer shall therefore be responsible, but not limited, for the following:

    • Manage and maintain servers, storage systems, virtualization platforms, and cloud infrastructure
    • Monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring uptime and reliability
    • Perform regular backups, disaster recovery tests, and data restoration procedures 
    • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot network systems, including LAN, WAN, and VPNs 
    • Ensure network security by implementing firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and other security measures
    • Manage IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, and VLAN configurations 
    • Use monitoring tools to track system performance, detect issues, and take proactive actions to prevent downtime
    • Schedule and perform software and hardware updates, patches, and upgrades
    • Implement and monitor IT security policies to safeguard systems and data 
    • Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and mitigate risks
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements 
    • Provide second-level support for complex infrastructure and network-related issues escalated by the service desk
    • Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for maintenance and troubleshooting
    • Participate in IT projects, such as infrastructure upgrades, network expansion, and system migrations 
    • Ensure timely completion of projects, within scope and budget 
    • Maintain detailed documentation of the IT infrastructure, including network diagrams, system configurations, and standard operating procedures
    • Generate regular reports on infrastructure performance, network uptime, and security incidents 
    • Work closely with the IT team to support business applications, data analytics, and other IT services 
    • Provide technical guidance to team members and contribute to IT strategy discussions 
    • Prepare periodic reports for the attention of the Lead, IT 
    • Perform any other tasks as assigned from time to time by the Lead, IT

    Minimum Educational & Professional Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge

    • First degree (B.SC) or H.N.D + PGD and Masters in the same field in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
    • 3–5 years of experience in IT infrastructure and network administration.
    • Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent are highly desirable.

    • Infrastructure management - Strong knowledge of on-premise and cloud-based IT infrastructure
    • Network administration
    • System monitoring and maintenance 
    • Experience implementing cybersecurity measures, access controls, and compliance standards 
    • Proficiency in using monitoring tools to identify and resolve system/network issues.IT standards and compliance
    • Problem-solving skills 
    • Communication skills
