    Field Service Engineer

    Key responsibilities:

    • Implement operational and maintenance procedures for company assets deployed at client sites, ensuring consistent performance and compliance with technical standards
    • Collaborate with team members to ensure:
    • Achievement of minimum system uptime of 99.5%
    • Site operating costs—including diesel usage, consumables, and grid power—remain within approved budgets
    • Clients adhere to agreed operational procedures and designated operating hours
    • Timely and accurate billing and collections in coordination with the Finance team
    • Adoption of best‑practice maintenance standards for all assets, including diesel and gas generators, batteries, inverters, and solar panels, to maximize equipment life cycle
    • Remain available and willing to travel to various sites across Nigeria based on operational requirements
    • Ensure strict compliance with Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) protocols during all on‑site activities
    • Conduct installation, troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and corrective maintenance activities as assigned
    • Keep accurate service records, site reports, and maintenance logs for internal and client use
    • Support customer relations through professional communication and timely resolution of technical issues
    • Coordinate with internal units (Projects, NOC, SCM, QHSE, etc.) to ensure seamless service delivery

    Working condition:

    • Approximately 5% of time shall be spent in office environments with the remaining time in the field

    Physical Requirements

    • The Engineer shall be capable of lifting up to 20kg; stand for an extended period of time; work in outdoor environment

    Requirements

    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering; preferably Electrical or Mechanical
    • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 year's work experience in equipment maintenance, power systems, or renewable energy operations
    • Must have good knowledge of diesel generators and rectifier system
    • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
    • Ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism.

    Solar Panel Maintenance Supervisor

    Key responsibilities:

    Manage and execute activities pertaining to Solar System Preventative Maintenance (SSPM) on all allotted Daystar solar power system and ensuring all HSE procedures are followed. These activities include but are not limited to:

    • Periodic cleaning of solar PV modules as per annual maintenance schedule
    • Inspection of the solar mounting structures
    • Periodic cable inspection as per annual maintenance schedule
    • Array Junction Box (AJB) maintenance as per annual maintenance schedule
    • Conducting PV system checks.
    • Taking and archiving of “before and after” pictures of solar panel array.

    Plan, prepare, and manage schedules pertaining to preventive maintenance on allotted solar plants.

    • He/she is expected to plan maintenance activities for members of his/her team on a weekly basis.
    • He/she is expected to ensure that the annual maintenance schedule for solar plants is strictly followed.
    • Weekly reporting of all executed maintenance activities.

    Enforce HSE compliance within team during all maintenance activities.

    • Ensure that all team members and 3rd party contractors have the required medical fitness and competency certificates.
    • Liaise with QHSE officers for the provision of all required RAMS documents.
    • Ensure the availability and mandatory use of PPE within the team.
    • Ensure that all safety guidelines are strictly adhered to, especially while working at heights.
    • Report all safety incidents and near-misses to the QHSE department.

    Requirements

    Education: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

    Experience: A minimum of 3 years’ work experience in Electrical Engineering roles, preferably in the renewable energy or power industry, installing and / or maintaining solar systems.

    Language Proficiency: English.

    Field Service Manager

    • Daystar Power Group is looking to engage a competent and experienced Field Service Engineering Manager, resident in Port Harcourt or Aba to manage the operation and maintenance of the South South and South East sites, resulting in a 99.5% uptime or better, ensuring customer experience is world class, and resulting in a Net Promoter Score of 70 or above. As an Engineering Manager, Field Service, you will build, lead, and inspire Daystar Power’s Field Service Engineering team. In addition, you will spearhead the implementation of best-in-class success processes, to ensure customer happiness at Daystar Power.

    • Organize and implement procedures for operating and maintaining Daystar Power’s assets across the assigned region, including effective assignment and coordination of Field Service Engineers.

    • Enforce best-practice maintenance standards for diesel and gas generators, batteries, inverters, solar panels, and other power equipment to maximize efficiency and lifespan.
    • Ensure strict adherence to QHSE standards, promoting safe work practices among all field engineers and technicians.

    Service Team Leadership

    • Set up, lead, and coach the Field Service team to consistently deliver operational targets.
    • Oversee training and continuous development of Field Service Engineers and Technicians to strengthen technical capability in operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

    Customer Experience

    • Lead the onboarding of new customers to ensure a smooth transition into Daystar Power’s products and services.
    • Liaise with the Customer Account Team to ensure rapid deployment of solutions to client sites.
    • Manage contract obligations between Daystar Power and clients, ensuring compliance with agreed operational procedures and schedules.
    • Produce comprehensive field service reports, insights, and performance analyses for senior management and clients.

    Financial & Administrative

    • Support accurate and timely billing and collections in collaboration with the Finance team.
    • Monitor and control operational costs to ensure sustainable site profitability.

    Strategic & General Responsibilities

    • Research, recommend, and deploy new technologies that improve uptime, reduce operating costs, and enhance customer satisfaction and Net Promoter Score (NPS).
    • Collaborate with internal sub‑teams (Sales, Projects, Legal, etc.) to ensure seamless customer transitions across the service lifecycle.
    • Research evolving best practices in field service engineering and integrate relevant trends into Daystar Power’s operations and service improvement initiatives.
    • Provide input into the design, enhancement, and prioritization of new features and services based on deep understanding of clients, technology, and market dynamics.
    • Manage a portfolio of solar sites across the South‑South and South‑East regions of Nigeria, ensuring consistent performance and service reliability.

    Working condition

    Requirements

    Education: 

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering

    Experience with installation, troubleshooting, or repair of electrical/solar/hybrid power systems preferred.
