    Personal Assistant to MD

    JOB Summary 

    The incumbent is expected to help the president maximize his efficiency by providing him with clerical and secretarial support. He or she will keep the president organized by taking care of travel arrangements, Plan and Manage Meetings, Develop and Maintain Filing System, Implement Office Policies and Procedures, Schedule and Update the President’s Calendar and other tasks not limited to the below;

    Job Requirements

    Responsibilities:

    • Inspecting output samples using industry-appropriate methods, such as comparing to standards, measuring dimensions, and examining functionality
    • Setting the requirements for raw materials from suppliers and monitoring their compliance.

    Horticulturist

    Duties

    • Grow potted plants and nursery stock and maintain records on the growing operation.
    • Prepare maintenance programs for the control of plant diseases and insects
    • Monitor insect populations to determine when pesticides or other treatments are needed
    • Evaluate plants for signs of stress, disease, or other problems
    • Recommend new planting methods or layouts based on available space, sunlight requirements, and other considerations.

    Rice Seed Breeder

    • The Rice Breeder, under immediate supervision of the General Manager / Business head.
    • He / She will undertake activities related to the breeding pipelines development for Value Seed’s Rice Farm.

    Key Deliverables

    • Develop high yielding varieties corresponding to desired product profiles, in close collaboration with farm and mill teams, by combining good agronomic traits, desirable grain quality, and tolerance/resistance to abiotic and biotic stresses through conventional breeding approach.
    • Plans and carries out breeding studies to develop and improve varieties of Rice: Improves specific characteristics, such as yield, quality, maturity, and resistance to drought, disease and insect pests in plants, utilizing principles of genetics and knowledge of plant growth.
    • Produce pure parent line, breeder and foundation seed for multiplication.
    • Breeds plants, using methods such as inbreeding, crossbreeding, backcrossing, outcrossing and selection.
    • Select progeny having desired characteristics and continues breeding and selection process to reach desired objectives.
    • Lead the testing of advanced breeding lines developed at inhouse Centre for various breeding product segments (Early duration, Mid duration, long grains, High amylose content, High yielding germplasm)
    • Coordinate with external stakeholders (Private organization/Public institutes) for new germplasm introduction and breeding collaborations.
    • Facilitate varietal release and adoption at farm and create demand for superior varieties;

    Requirements

    • PhD in breeding, genetics or other related fields with a minimum of 2-year experience in Rice breeding; or M.Sc.  in breeding, genetics or other related fields with a minimum of 5-year experience in Rice breeding in a reputed seed company or research institution.

    Knowledge and Key Competencies:

    • Highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, and innovative;
    • Strong record of innovation and process improvement in breeding;
    • Excellent knowledge of statistics in field experimental design and data analysis;

    A Seed Processing Plant Supervisor is responsible for supervising the seed production activities in a seed processing plant to ensure that the processed seeds meet the expected quality standards. The person oversees the preparation of work area and seed processing machineries along with seed processing activities.

    Personal Attributes

    The individual must have managerial abilities such as planning, organising, decision-making, problem-solving etc. The person must have an aptitude for machines along with the ability to lead a team to achieve the organisational goals.

    1.      Plan and supervise the preparation for seed processing

    The scope covers the following:
    a.       Check seed lots and plan seed processing

    To be competent, the user/individual on the job must be able to:

    • obtain the production order details from the manager such as the types of seeds to be processed, quantity, turnaround time, etc.
    • match the batch size and weight of the seed lots received for processing with the information obtained from the supplier
    • plan seed processing efficiently, considering the processing time for different types of seeds,
    • processing capacity of the seed processing machineries and available manpower
    • arrange for seed lots to be grouped based on homogeneity to avoid mixing of different types of seed lots
    • arrange for the safe transfer of raw seeds from the storage area to the seed processing area
    • b.       Supervise the preparation of work area
    • To be competent, the user/individual on the job must be able to:
    • check the availability of the necessary tools, equipment and PPE for seed processing
    • arrange for the faulty tools, equipment and PPE to be repaired or replaced

    c.       Supervise the preparation of seed processing machineries

    To be competent, the user/individual on the job must be able to:

    • perform pre-operation checks on the seed processing machineries such as the scalper, air screen cleaner, gravity separator, indented cylinder, treater, etc.
    • ensure the machine accessories and fittings such as valves, bowls and pipes are attached correctly

    2.      Supervise the seed processing operation

    The scope covers the following:
    a.       Monitor seed processing

    To be competent, the user/individual on the job must be able to:

    • ensure the machine operators follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) recommended by the manufacturer to operate various seed processing machineries
    • ensure that the necessary processes such as pre-cleaning, cleaning, fine-cleaning and grading are carried out according to the type and condition of the raw seeds
    • examine the quality of seeds through various stages of processing to ensure compliance with the established quality standards
    • ensure correct weight in the seed bags or containers
    • ensure the seed bags or containers are labelled with the required and correct information as per the applicable regulatory requirements
    • instruct the machine operators and workers to use the recommended PPE during the seed processing operation

    b.       Monitor productivity and compliance with the environment policy

    To be competent, the user/individual on the job must be able to:

    • co-ordinate with the relevant personnel to ensure that seed processing is completed within the agreed schedule with minimum wastage of seeds
    • deal with any unforeseen circumstances as per the organisational policy or escalate to the higher authority
    • monitor compliance with the health and hygiene guidelines in the production area
    • ensure the optimisation of resources such as water/ electricity/ production material
    • instruct the workers to segregate waste into the appropriate categories
    • ensure recycling and disposal of different types of waste as per the regulatory requirements

    Seed Production Officer - Rice , Wheat

    • Prepare and plan seed production schedule in accordance with seed production targets indicated by management for the year.
    • Contribute to the screening and selection of out-growers for yearly seed production activities.
    • Participate in planting, rouging, detasseling, and harvesting as well as provide technical backstopping on recommended agricultural practices for seed production.
    • Seed production of open pollinated varieties, inbred lines, and hybrids.
    • Monitor and ensure quality control standards for production of foundation and/or certified seeds of open pollinated variety, inbred lines and hybrids are met.
    • Maintain records for seed production outputs, farm management practices and parent stock delivery.
