    Community Manager

    We are looking for a Community Manager to build and nurture Pulse’s audience communities across our social platforms and direct engagement channels. 

    This role is about more than just replying to comments — it’s about creating a strong Pulse identity in conversations, shaping community culture, and ensuring our audiences feel connected to the brand.

    The Community Manager will be the voice of Pulse in everyday interactions, sparking conversations, building loyalty, and ensuring that Pulse’s content and initiatives resonate with young Africans.

    Key Responsibilities

    Community Building & Engagement

    • Manage day-to-day interactions on Pulse’s social media channels and communities (TikTok, Instagram, Twitter/X, Facebook, YouTube, WhatsApp, Telegram, etc.).
    • Respond to comments, questions, and conversations in a timely, witty, and brand-consistent voice.
    • Develop a community playbook that defines Pulse’s tone of voice, response styles, and engagement rules.
    • Create fun, engaging community-driven activities (polls, Q&As, challenges).
    • Moderate community spaces to keep them safe, positive, and inclusive.

    Content & Collaboration

    • Collaborate with the Social and Editorial teams to identify and surface trending conversations that Pulse should join.
    • Partner with creators, influencers, and audience members to highlight community voices.
    • Suggest content ideas based on community feedback, questions, and trends.
    • Amplify brand campaigns by driving conversation and participation within Pulse communities.

    Monitoring & Reporting

    • Track audience sentiment and feedback across community channels.
    • Share regular reports on community health, engagement levels, and conversation drivers.
    • Identify opportunities for Pulse to deepen its relationship with audiences.

    Requirements

    • 2–3 years of experience in community management, social media management, or audience engagement.
    • Strong understanding of digital culture, youth trends, and online conversations.
    • Excellent written communication skills — witty, quick, and brand-consistent.
    • Ability to handle both positive and negative feedback with professionalism.
    • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple platforms and communities.
    • Bonus: experience with creator/influencer communities or brand ambassador programs.

    Social Videographer

    We are looking for Social Videographers to create high-quality, engaging short-form video content for Pulse’s social platforms and to cover live events.

    The role requires a hands-on creator who can shoot, edit, and package videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook. Social Videographers will work closely with the Instagram Lead, TikTok Lead, and Creator Lead to bring ideas to life — from trending challenges and explainers to event coverage and creator collabs.

    This role is for someone who is both technically skilled and creatively attuned to youth culture, and who thrives in both fast-turnaround social media editing and on-the-ground event environments.

    Key Responsibilities

    Content Production

    • Shoot and edit short-form videos optimised for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook.
    • Capture social-first footage in studio and field settings, adapting to both controlled shoots and spontaneous content moments.
    • Package videos with captions, graphics, transitions, and music for maximum impact.
    • Ensure the content is mobile-first, visually appealing, and designed to capture audiences quickly.

    Event Coverage

    • Cover live events, including concerts, red carpets, celebrity appearances, brand activations, and influencer gatherings.
    • Capture behind-the-scenes moments and trending content during events for real-time publishing.
    • Work with editorial and social teams to ensure event coverage is optimised for social platforms.
    • Edit and publish highlights quickly to maximise visibility while the event is still trending.

    Creative Collaboration

    • Work with Social Content Leads to execute briefs and trending concepts.
    • Collaborate with the Creator Lead on creator-led productions and event collabs.
    • Partner with Graphic Designers to integrate branded templates and motion graphics.
    • Contribute to team brainstorms with fresh ideas for video formats.

    Trend Awareness & Adaptation

    • Stay on top of TikTok/Instagram trends, audio tracks, filters, and editing styles.
    • Quickly adapt trending formats into Pulse-branded content.
    • Recommend new content experiments, transitions, and creative approaches.

    Technical Execution

    • Operate cameras, lighting, and audio equipment for shoots and live event coverage.
    • Edit content using CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, or Final Cut Pro.
    • Optimise aspect ratios (9:16, 1:1, 16:9) and lengths for multi-platform delivery.
    • Maintain organised file management for footage and edits.

    Performance & Improvement

    • Review performance data with Social Leads to identify winning content styles.
    • Continuously refine editing, pacing, and storytelling techniques based on audience feedback.
    • Support reporting with creative takeaways for future planning.

    Requirements

    • 2–4 years’ experience creating video content for social media platforms.
    • Strong portfolio of TikToks, Reels, event coverage, or short-form video content.
    • Proficiency in video editing software (CapCut, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and After Effects is a plus.
    • Ability to shoot with both smartphones and professional cameras.
    • Knowledge of lighting, sound, and filming setups for both studio and live events.
    • Strong grasp of social-first storytelling: quick hooks, engaging transitions, fast-paced edits.
    • Experience in capturing and editing event-based content under tight timelines.
    • Bonus: photography skills for social event coverage.
