    Gender - Based Violence Case Worker - Zamfara

    Overall Mission

    • Under the direct supervision of the Protection Supervisor and withhigh-leveltechnical guidance from the Deputy Protection Coordinator on GBV quality standards, the GBV Case Workeris responsible forproviding quality, survivor-centered case management services to GBV survivors and individuals at risk of GBV.
    • The GBV Case Workerworks withProtection Officer and plays a complementary, specialized role focused on GBV response, case management, PRIMERO / GBVIMS data management, and GBV prevention activities.
    • S/he works inclose coordination with Protection Officers, community structures, health sector actors, and external service providers, and supervises Protection Volunteers assigned to GBV activities.

    Responsibilities & Tasks
    Activities Implementation:
    GBV Response:

    • Provide direct, day-to-day survivor-centered case management services to GBV survivors and individuals at risk of GBV, in line with GBV SOPs and GBV Guiding Principles.
    • Assess survivors' needs, develop action plans, implement plans, follow up, and close cases in compliance with GBV case management standard operating procedures.
    • Document cases using intake and assessment forms; ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely documentation in line with confidentiality standards and do-no-harm principles.
    • Ensure case management steps, referral protocols, and documentation standards are consistently followed at all stages of the case management process.
    • Organize and participate in regular case conference meetings to address challenging cases; escalate complex, high-risk, or ethically sensitive cases to the Protection Supervisor for case supervision and, if needed, to the Deputy Protection Coordinator for clinical consultation.
    • Provide referrals for GBV survivors to appropriate internal and external services (child protection, SRH, MHPSS, legal aid, IPA); accompany survivors where appropriate and conduct follow-up to ensure services have been received.
    • Ensure the survivor-centered approach and GBV Guiding Principles are maintained at all times, including in safe spaces and community settings.

    GBV Prevention:

    • Follow up with survivors and partners to ensure action plans are implemented and appropriate services have been provided.
    • Facilitate or support psychosocial support activities and structured group sessions, including EMAP or Girls Shine activities within or linked to safe space programming, under the supervision of the Protection Supervisor.
    • Design and deliver GBV awareness-raising sessions for community members — including men, boys, women, girls, and community leaders — on GBV core concepts, prevention, available services, and rights.
    • Develop and disseminate key messages on GBV prevention based on issues identified in the community, in coordination with the Protection Supervisor.
    • Support community-based GBV prevention activities and promote protective behaviors within communities.
    • Actively develop and maintain effective working relationships with case management actors, community structures, government actors, UN agencies, and NGOs in the field.
    • Support the FCRM helpdesk when required; ensure GBV survivors and community members can access information, feedback mechanisms, and referrals safely and confidentially.

    GBVIMS / Primero Data Management:

    • Regularly update the PRIMERO / GBVIMS Incident Recorder with documented cases; ensure timely and accurate data entry in line with GBVIMS protocols and data protection standards.
    • Maintain complete and organized files on all GBV documented cases and follow-ups across all operational areas.
    • Use PRIMERO / GBVIMS to analyze documented cases for weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting; provide statistics and data as required by the Protection Supervisor and Area Protection Manager.
    • Ensure sensitive protection information is safely stored, secured, and managed in line with international confidentiality and data protection standards.
    • Report any data quality issues or database access problems to the Protection Supervisor promptly.

    Team Supervision & Capacity Building:

    • Provide regular supervision, debriefing, and support to Protection Volunteers assigned to GBV activities.
    • Identify capacity-building needs and facilitate training for Protection Volunteers on GBV core concepts, confidentiality, safe referrals, and case support.
    • Conduct regular meetings with Protection Volunteers; collect feedback and communicate challenges and outcomes to the Protection Supervisor.

    Reporting & Data Collection:

    • Define needs in materials and tools required for case management, training, and outreach activities; report to the Protection Supervisor.
    • Organize and support training sessions: venue, attendees, and support materials.
    • Ensure proper use and maintenance of data collection tools (tablets, forms, GBVIMS devices).
    • Respect and implement PUI security protocols; report security incidents to the Protection Supervisor immediately.

    Logistics & Administration:

    • Define needs in materials and tools required for case management, training, and outreach activities; report to the Protection Supervisor.
    • Organize and support training sessions: venue, attendees, and support materials.
    • Ensure proper use and maintenance of data collection tools (tablets, forms, GBVIMS devices).
    • Respect and implement PUI security protocols; report security incidents to the Protection Supervisor immediately.
    • The tasks and responsibilities defined in this job description are non-exhaustive and can evolve depending on the project’s needs.

    Priorities of The Department

    • Strengthen the community outreach network and community-based protection structures, including CBPNs and women-led groups.
    • Ensure a continuous grasp on population needs and vulnerabilities through systematic protection monitoring and analysis, and strengthen PUI's reactivity to emerging humanitarian needs.
    • Ensure safe, dignified, and integrated service delivery, including quality GBV case management, individual protection assistance, and survivor-centered care across all modalities.
    • Strengthen internal and external referral mechanisms to ensure timely, safe, and appropriate access to multi-sector services.
    • Ensure effective helpdesk services and community feedback and accountability systems across all bases.
    • Strengthen adolescent girls and boys programming, including structured prevention approaches, safe space programming, and life skills interventions.
    • Promote household-level protection interventions to identify and respond to vulnerabilities at the household and family unit level.
    • Advance social and behaviour change approaches targeting men, boys, community leaders, and key influencers to address the root causes of GBV and protection risks.

    Requirements
    Mandatory Requirements:
    Language Skills:

    • Good command in English (speaking, reading & writing).
    • Fluent in local languages – Hausa and/orFulani.

    Education Degree:

    • Educated to University level (First Degree or HND preferably in Social Science, Psychology or a related Field).
    • Previous training in GBV programming and case management is desirable.

    Work Experience:

    • Demonstrated commitment to helping others.
    • Demonstrated discretion and good judgment.
    • 2-4 years of experiencein GBV programming and case management is an asset.
    • Proven experience working in NGOs.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Clear understanding of Gender, power relations, and issues surrounding violence against women.
    • Able to apply all GBV guiding principles, counseling ethics andupholdthe rights of the survivors at all times.
    • Positive, highly motivated, innovative, with strong organizational andinter-personal skills.
    • Excellent communication (especially in public) and diplomacy skills to manage relationship in potentially tense situation.

    Gender - Based Violence Case Worker - Borno

    General Objective / Summary

    • Under the direct supervision of the Protection Supervisor, the GBV Case Worker is responsible for planning, implementing and providing quality case management to GBV survivors.
    • The position holder will work with a team of GBV volunteers together with community structures and the health sector in compliance with work plans, donor regulations and PUI policies.
    • The position holder will play a key role in providing direct survivor-centred case management services to Gender Based Violence survivors and individuals at risk of GBV

    Responsibilities and Tasks
    Activities Implementation:

    • Provide psycho-social support, and psychological first aid to survivors who have

    • Assess survivors’ needs, develop an action plan, implement the plan, follow up and close the case in line with the GBV case management standard operating procedures and guidelines on case management.

    • Attend GBV meetings as may be required.
    • Regularly update documentation and maintain Database for all documented cases, plan of action and follow-up visits using the GBVIMS.
    • Actively develop and maintain effective working relationships with case management actors in the field, including government actors, UN agencies, NGOs, and other relevant actors.
    • Provide referrals for survivors of Gender Based Violence to other services, including child protection, sexual and reproductive health services and specialized mental health services, accompany survivors where appropriate and conduct follow-up to ensure appropriate services have been provided to the survivor.
    • Ensures that survivor-centred Approach Guiding principles are maintained and enforced while working with survivors, including in a safe space for women and girls.
    • Organise regular case conference meetings to address challenging cases and ensure survivors receive quality services with dignity.
    • Provide capacity-building and training to Protection Volunteers on thematic of protection (including CP, GBV, protection mainstreaming, confidentiality of protection data)
    • Ensure sensitive protection information is safely stored, secured and managed in line with the international standards on confidentiality and respect of privacy
    • Submit weekly and monthly activities reports to the supervisor
    • Report immediately any difficulty or delay faced in the implementation of activities to the direct manager
    • Represent PUI at any time and anywhere when s/he is on duty
    • Assist in the activities of the women's and girls' safe space
    • Practice self-care
    • The case management officer will be responsible for the management of the safe space for women and girls and will receive supervision and support from the Protection Supervisor
    • Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse:
    • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within PUI and amongst beneficiaries served by PUI.

    Compliance & Ethics:

    • Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance and ethics throughout.

    Team Management:

    • Provide regular supervision to Protection Volunteers
    • Identify and provide capacity-building training for Protection Volunteers
    • Conduct regular meetings with Protection Volunteers for debriefing, provide support as may be needed, continuously collect feedback from protection volunteers, and ensure communication to the Protection Supervisor.
