    Head, Underwriter & Reinsurance

    Job Description

    • Define underwriting strategy and recommend business plans that will generate continued profitable business growth in current and future markets.
    • Oversee and manage all underwriting
    •  Translate the strategic goals into objectives, and plan for financial and human resources to achieve them.
    •  Ensure effective leadership & management of underwriting people: pursuing active talent management, driving capability development and creating a high-performance culture.
    •  Set framework for underwriting decisions e.g. Authority grants, referrals, technical reviews.
    •  Provide assurance that the business adheres to underwriting governance/compliance principles and regulatory standards.
    •  Oversee design & implementation of rating tools & methodology.
    •  Analyse, evaluate and make underwriting decisions in line with underwriting guidelines and recommendations, coordinating with analysts and other underwriting staff.
    •  Review and analyze new insurance applications for risk exposure and compliance with underwriting guidelines.
    •  Meet and negotiate with clients and brokers to build relationships and to develop new and renewal business.
    •  Review contract wordings and act as signatory of insurance contracts and ensure alignment to UW guidelines.
    •  As the accountable party, work with legal and compliance on policy wordings, marketing collaterals and other regulatory and compliance issues as and when required.
    •  Establish appropriate internal underwriting procedures and criteria to control risk. - Delegate Authority and provide underwriting direction to all Underwriters

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or any related course.
    • Minimum of 7 year experience in similar role
    • CIIN certification.
    • Must be able to develop long-term strategic underwriting goals, cycle management strategy & underwriting policy, and provide underwriting "leadership to the market.
    • Must be able to drive proposition management and development within the Underwriting function.
    • Must be able to manage the reinsurance market cycle
    • Must be able to overcome LoB/unit thinking and build holistic / total balance sheet mindset to drive improved reinsurance decision making
    • Develop understanding of new concepts (capital markets)
    • Analyse, evaluate and make underwriting decisions in line with underwriting guidelines and recommendations, coordinating with analysts and other underwriting staff
    • Establish appropriate internal underwriting procedures and criteria to control risk

    Finance Manager

    Job Description

    • Develop and implement financial strategies, plans, and budgets to support the organization's goals and objectives.
    •  Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and presentations for management and regulatory bodies.
    • Monitor and control expenses to ensure they align with the approved budget.
    • Optimize cash flow by effectively managing accounts receivable, accounts payable, and working capital.
    • Stay updated on market trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact the organization's financial position.
    •  Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making processes.
    •  Ensure or execute statutory and commercial accounting according to the legal requirements and IFRS guidelines.
    •  Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with organizational goals.
    •  Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and reporting requirements.
    •  Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes to inform financial decisions.
    • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, such as executives, investors, and suppliers.
    •  Conduct financial analysis and provide insights for strategic decision-making.
    •  Monitor and analyze key financial indicators, such as revenue, expenses, and cash flow, to identify potential risks or opportunities.
    •  Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity and optimize cash utilization.
    •  Evaluate and mitigate financial risks, including market fluctuations, interest rate risks, and credit risks.
    •  Oversee day-to-day financial operations, i.e account payable and receivable, payroll, and transactions.
    •  Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and presentations for management
    •  Ensure up-to-date knowledge of (local) financial and fiscal laws, theories and developments and financial contractual requirements
    •  Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
    •  Develop, plan, and implement innovative and cost-effective supply chain strategies.
    •  Identify and develop financing opportunities in line with department targets

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field
    • Minimum of 5 years experience working as a finance manager and developing financial reports and metrics
    •  Experience in preparing financial statements according to IRFRS
    • Taxation experience, i.e. preparing annual tax returns
    •  Needs to be a certified Accountant (either ICAN, CIMA or ACCA membership)
    • Advanced proficiency with MS Excel, experience with datasets, VBA, PowerQuery, Power Pivot or PowerBI
