    Vice-Chancellor

    Job Summary

    • The candidate for the post of Vice-Chancellor is required to possess a good university education and should be a proven successful manager of human and material resources.

    Requirements
    Specifically, the candidate shall be expected to:

    • Be a highly distinguished scholar of the rank of Professor with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience at that level, demonstrating the ability to provide academic and administrative leadership for such a well-established institution.
    • Be a person of proven integrity.
    • Be no older than sixty-five (65) years as of the possible assumption of duty in November 2024.
    • Command the respect of national and international academic communities through his/her track record.
    • Strengthen the bridge between staff, students, and other members of the University.
    • Enjoy excellent physical and mental health.
    • Attract much-needed funds to the University through grants and other connections.

    Terms and Conditions of Service Applicable to the Post

    • The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for a single term of two (2) years, which may be renewable, only on such terms and conditions as may, from time to time, be specified in the letter of appointment.
    • The remuneration and other conditions of service applicable to the position are determined by the Governing Council of the University, as appropriate.

    Registrar

    The Position

    • The Registrar is a Principal Officer and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the affairs of the University (other than academic and financial affairs).
    • With three (3) Colleges, eight (8) academic departments, and other service units, the Registrar carries a significant and enormous responsibility.
    • Promotion of welfare and discipline among a thriving workforce, comprising both academic and non-academic staff, relies largely on the capability and quality leadership the Registrar provides.
    • Indeed, the Registry, led by the Registrar, serves as the window through which the overall "state of health" of the University can be viewed both internally and externally.
    • The Registrar is the Secretary to the Council, Senate, Convocation, and Congregation.
    • Additionally, the Registrar is the repository of university documents, records, and archives of the past.
    • By virtue of this responsibility, the Registrar holds an enviable position in society, deserving of honour, privilege, and respect.

    The Candidate

    • The candidate for the position of Registrar must be a person of well-rounded character and personality with excellent interpersonal relations.
    • They must be able to instill confidence in others and command the loyalty and respect of people.
    • The candidate must fully understand the complexity of a university system and be capable of bringing out the best in subordinates.
    • The candidate must enjoy good health, possess a pleasant disposition, maintain high integrity and strong moral character to inspire and enforce discipline among staff and students.

    Requirements

    • Applicants must possess a good honours Degree (minimum of second class lower) from any university recognized by the Senate of the University, with at least 15 years of cognate experience.
    • In addition, applicants must be ICT-compliant and members of relevant and recognized professional bodies.
    • Applicants must have occupied the position of at least Principal Assistant Registrar, preferably in a university or similar institution, for a minimum of ten years.
    • Applicants should not be older than 60 years as of the possible date of resumption.

    • The appointment shall be for a period of two (2) years and may, based on satisfactory performance, be renewable.
    • Fringe benefits include a pension scheme as may from time to time be approved by the Council, furnished accommodation, an official vehicle with a driver, and other benefits applicable to similar positions.

    Bursar

    The Position

    • The Bursar is a Principal Officer and the Chief Finance Officer responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the University.
    • Applicants for this key management position must be candidates with vision, proven professional distinction, managerial ability, integrity, and transparency in private and public life, capable of providing the management of the University with appropriate advice and support for all of the institution's financial transactions.
    • The right candidate should also have the ability to develop linkages with external communities to support the needs of the University, command respect, and engender the cooperation and loyalty of staff and students.

    Requirements

    • Applicants must possess a good honours Degree (minimum of second class lower) in any of Accounting, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or any related discipline from a University recognized by the Senate of the University, with at least 15 years of cognate experience.
    • In addition, applicants must be ICT compliant and members of relevant and recognized professional bodies such as ACA, ACMA, CPA, ACCA, ICAN, or ANAN.
    • Applicants must have occupied the position of at least Chief Accountant, preferably in a university or similar institution, for a minimum of ten years and should not be older than 60 years as of the possible date of resumption.

    University Librarian

    The Position

    • The University Librarian is a Principal Officer and the Chief Library Officer responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University Library.
    • The library houses a rich repository of publications, ordinance (P.O.) materials, and features a digitalization chamber where rare collections and manuscripts are processed for preservation and optimum accessibility.
    • It has an online Public Access Catalogue that is web-based, accessible anywhere and anytime as long as there is internet connectivity.
    • The University Librarian coordinates the activities of all university libraries and plays a critical role in implementing the Vision and Mission of the University.

    Requirements

    • Applicants must possess a good honours degree (minimum of second class lower) in any related discipline from a university recognized by the Senate of the University, plus a professional qualification in librarianship.
    • Applicants should show evidence of considerable scholarship and a thorough understanding of the application of new technologies to library operations and services. Computer literacy and application of ICT in library services are essential requirements.
    • Applicants must provide sufficient evidence of contribution to knowledge through research and scholarly publications in reputable, peer-reviewed, and referred journals within and outside Nigeria.
    • Candidates should demonstrate competence in job planning/organization, high visionary team-building ability, and good interpersonal skills.
    • A minimum of 15 years of experience is required, of which 10 years must have been in a top leadership position in a recognized university, and applicants must have served as Principal Librarian for at least 5 years.

    Method of Application

    Interested and qualified candidates should submit thirty (30) copies each of their Applications, applicant's vision and mission for the University, and candidate's Curriculum Vitae. The Curriculum Vitae, duly signed and dated, should contain the following details:

    • Candidate's full name

    • Marital status
    • Educational attainments
    • Nationality
    • Professional and academic achievements
    • Names and addresses of three (3) referees.

    The sealed envelope(s) containing the application or nomination should be marked "POST OF THE VICE-CHANCELLOR" at the top left-hand corner and forwarded to:

    Note

    • Each referee should be contacted by the applicant to forward, directly to the Registrar, a confidential report on the candidate's character, academic, and managerial abilities in a properly sealed envelope marked "Post of Vice-Chancellor: Referee's Report" at the top left-hand corner.
    • In the case of candidates identified by the Search Team, the application shall conform to the requirements above, but in addition, a letter of consent duly signed by the candidate shall be presented along with the application.
