    Missing Persons (Restoring Family Links) Field Officer

    Location: Yola, Adamawa

    Job Description

    • Under the supervision of the Delegate for Missing Persons, the Missing Persons (Restoring Family Links) Field Officer supports the implementation and monitoring of the activities related to the Missing and Protection of Family Links (PFL) in line with the priorities and objectives set by the delegation.

    Responsibilities

    • Assists in the implementation of the Accompaniment program for the families of missing.
    • Conducts interviews with families of missing persons.
    • Carries out training for accompaniers on implementing the accompaniment programme, and relevant topics.
    • Maintains contact and provides on-the-job coaching to accompaniers together with MHPSS team.
    • Contributes to the collection and analysis of data.
    • Uses Excel and other software to create databases to aid the processing and interpretation of information from household surveys and evaluations.
    • Updates databases and files relevant documents in TeamSpace in accordance with data protection guidelines.
    • Processes data, reports, supply requests and other administrative tasks to a timely manner.
    • Coordinates with colleagues from other departments (to support multi-disciplinary activities part of accompaniment).
    • Follows up on all work-related messages and correspondence with the relevant contacts and departments.
    • Upon request translates into English orally during meeting or in written as required.
    • Assists the Restoring Family Links colleagues when required and participates to RFL activities in the field.
    • Raises Requisition Orders to purchase the items needed for field activities.
    • Sends transport and field trip requests.

    Education and Experience Required

    • Degree in Psychology, Social Work or Social studies
    • 5 years of work experience in similar field
    • Good knowledge of written and spoken English and Hausa (other local languages (an asset)
    • Good computer skills; in particular with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;
    • Good knowledge of local cultural aspects and geographically assigned area

    • Good analytical skills, detail-orientation and precision;
    • Very good writing and reporting skills;
    • Very well organized, with good planning abilities.
    • Capacity to work within a team; Good inter-personal skills: ability to deal with people respectfully and showing empathy towards others, very good communication skills;

    Radio Operator (Abuja)

    Job Description

    • Under the supervision of the Radio Operator Supervisor, the Radio Operator operates the ICRC’s telecommunications equipment.
    • He maintains radio contact and telecommunications between sites, vehicles and people so that the delegation can follow field movements in accordance with its programme and with security rules.

    Responsibilities

    • Operates all types of radio (VHF, HF) including phone/satellite equipment for voice and data communication
    • Maintains daily radio and operations in the field mobile log
    • Facilitates radio and telecommunication contacts and maintains a permanent field follow-up according to internal guidelines
    • Respects international and national radio procedures when contacting other stations
    • Immediately shares with management any information that can affect the operational activities of the ICRC.
    • Registers and treat incoming and outgoing information, confidentially, rapidly and with accuracy
    • Is responsible for ensuring that the correct languages are used when working with all types of radios
    • Selects the most efficient means of communication (inside and outside the ICRC) considering speed and cost
    • Conducts radio checks as requested by management
    • Keeps record and tracks of satellite equipment, portable radios and other equipment in the Radio Room and ensures that they are constantly in good working condition
    • Is responsible for HF/VHF radios and satellite phones and issues them to field officers when needed
    • Examines and operates new equipment prior to installation in order to ensure that it performs properly
    • Reports all faults or irregularities relating to the efficient functioning of the Radio Room and/or the equipment to the Radio Operator Supervisor or the ICT Department
    • Consistently goes through the daily staff location template daily and promptly reports omissions or inconsistencies to the Radio Operator Supervisor for corrective action.
    • Maintains a good mastery of the geographically assigned environment

    Education and Experience Required

    • Minimum of Secondary Education
    • Diploma in ICT or Electronic, additional vocational training in electronics, telecommunication, IT or similar field will be an asset
    • Experience in communications/Radio operations within NGO’s or similar function preferably with an international organization
    • Very good command of written and spoken English.
    • Very good knowledge of Windows based computers
    • Good knowledge of radio (HF & VHF) technology and satellite communication
    • Excellent knowledge of the geographically assigned environment Basic mechanical skills

    Desired profile and Skills:

    • Capable and motivated to continuously update one-self on latest developments.
    • Strong sense of responsibility and autonomy with good organizational skills.
