    Deputy Head, Investment Banking

    Job Summary

    • Oversee the execution of capital market, financial advisory and project and structured finance transactions.
    • Manage all projects involving the team and ensure timely and quality delivery at all times.
    • Support the group head in ensuring the achievement of the team's budget

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities

    • Develop appropriate structures and deal execution strategies for all transactions
    • Quality control on all documents and correspondences going out of the department
    • Ensure compliance and risk management best practice
    • Interface with both regulators and clients with a view to ensuring adequate see-through of transactions
    • Manage and sustain team morale and human resource planning
    • Ensure adequate and timely preparation of all periodic reports and interface with relevant departments on those expectations
    • Support the group head in ensuring the achievement of the team's budget
    • Ensure that the team achieves its strategic objectives as set out by the Board and management
    • Represent the group head at all meetings where the department is expected to be present but for which the group head is not available to attend
    • Perform all other functions as may be delegated by the group head
    • Lead on a variety of transactions in all stages, from initial client pitch to transaction closing
    • Communicate regulatory, financial information and complex strategic issues in a clear, concise and relevant manner to assist and guide decision-makers in Investment Banking transactions
    • Ensure quality of client deliverables by demonstrating extraordinary attention to detail

    Business Leadership:

    • Provide business leads to business origination units.
    • Serve as internal and external thought leader by participating in key industry conferences, publishing thought pieces in web logs, being interviewed by journalists and trade journals, and other avenues to generate exposure and build brand

    People & Organization Management:

    • Effectively supervise the Investment Banking Group.
    • Guide and manage execution teams on day-to-day execution of deals
    • Provide leadership, professional development and mentoring for reporting staff

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics (or any of its related courses)
    • MBA or MSc. in Finance related discipline is an added advantage
    • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Investment Banking, conducting advisory related projects with demonstrable M&A execution experience

    Competency and Skill Requirements:

    • Good knowledge of corporate finance, including mergers and acquisitions, and equity and debt capital raising transactions
    • Thorough understanding of capital advisory services and the M&A process, complex debt/equity/distressed restructurings, creating buyer/seller strategies, deal structuring and negotiation
    • Strong understanding of the capital marketplace, including deal multiples, pricing, structure, potential financing sources and buyers, and an ability to develop capital-raising strategies and execute upon those strategies
    • Experience managing investment banking transaction execution teams
    • Strong knowledge of various sectors of the economy, especially Nigerian and African markets
    • Knowledge of and ensuring the Bank's adherence to global best practice and standards in Investment Banking and related concepts
    • Previous success and proven track record in new business development and closing investment banking transactions (book of business contacts)
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across functions and levels of seniority
    • Prior experience in investment banking and/or knowledge of the process and client expectations
    • Good management resource planning and resource coordination skills.
    • Significant client interaction and experience, particularly showing the ability to develop strong and influential client relationships

    Job Summary

    • Provide overall leadership for development of the Private Banking Team.
    • Initiates the development of private banking policies and procedures and manage all third-party relationships, specifically create and implement strategies and structure that enable the Relationship Managers and Officers to achieve their sales, revenue, productivity and client acquisition targets.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities

    • Focus on selling the organisation’s investment services to high-net-worth individuals primarily through face to face meetings and networking with various sources through direct prospecting, cultivation of external referral sources and creative networking with key influencers
    • Identify and build high-quality client relationships within the high-net-worth market.
    • Research prospects financial picture to develop an informed perspective on individual prospects and/or client’s situations and possible needs to determine how to best provide service as well as use as a vehicle for selling products which will preserve and grow our clients’ wealth.
    • Responsible for generating leads and manages sales process through closure.
    • Maintain periodic contact with existing clients and acts as a liaison between the clients and the rest of the business for various activities (e.g., setting up accounts, facilitating transactions).
    • Cross- sell relationship improvement opportunities to existing client providing pertinent client update information to partners within appropriate areas of the business.
    • Responsible for an oversight and management of a group of Relationship Managers and Officers.
    • Hire, coach and motivate a team of Relationship Managers and Officers to achieve and exceed the territories’ client service benchmarks and sales goals.
    • Evaluate and assign Officers appropriate books of clients.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management or any other related discipline
    • Master's in Business Administration (MBA)
    • A minimum of 8 years in a related field with at least 4/5 years’ experience in a similar position, with relevant exposure to Private Banking and Wealth Management
    • Deep awareness and understanding of the financial industry.
