    Director of Product Management, Talent

    Position Description

    • Andela’s Product Team is at the intersection of people, process, and technology. We’re building a next-generation platform that facilitates the connection between the global talent workforce (brilliance) and some of the best companies in the world (opportunity). To date, we’ve brought tens of thousands of engineers into the global technology ecosystem, and we’ve only just begun. 
    • We’re rapidly expanding, and we’re looking for a Director of Product to lead the Product Management team through the next chapter of Andela’s growth as we scale to millions of users.
    • As the Director of Product for the talent side of Andela’s marketplace, you will be responsible for developing and delivering the product roadmap and execution for a wide range of initiatives across our marketplace. You will have direct responsibility for leading a team of managers of Product Managers within the Andela organization. You will collaborate across the organization with senior leadership and critical business stakeholders, and be responsible for the evolution and optimization of the Andela marketplace.

    General Responsibilities

    • Lead the strategic direction of the product for the talent side of the marketplace, for both growth and user experience led products; defining and articulating new opportunities, and working in close concert with executive leadership, the engineering team and various business teams
    • Focus areas include the entire talent side: acquisition, assessment, activation, community & engagement experience, and talent retention.
    • Establish product KPIs and goals for the talent side of the marketplace platform, and develop long term strategies and products to achieve them
    • Create the vision and articulate the short and long term Product strategy for our core Product teams, ensuring alignment with the overall product roadmap for the larger Andela organization
    • Collaborate closely with our Growth & Product Marketing teams to grow our talent community and continuously bring innovate products to market
    • Be responsible for the management and leadership development of several Product Managers within the organization
    • Help the team scale through operational excellence in everything you do, from planning, to team management, to communication processes

    Requirements

    • 10+ years of experience in product management, across the full product development lifecycle, including product discovery, development, launch, maintenance, and ongoing management 
    • 6+ years of product leadership experience, both through peer influence, and through direct management of individual contributors
    • Experience building successful SaaS products, scaled to thousands of customers; and/or large scale marketplaces with millions of end users. B2C marketplace experience is a major plus.
    • Experience of directly managing a diverse team of remote-first product professionals, including being a hiring manager to build a team, and career coaching to develop individuals from junior to senior contributors
    • Demonstrated successful development of multiple products within fast-paced organizations delivered into rapidly growing markets 
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate and coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver products, including teams in data science, product design, engineering, business operations, and finance
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effortlessly present to a CXO audience and an engineering group alike
    • Data driven decision making mindset based on best practices for measurement and analysis, including sufficient familiarity with data to actively monitor product health
    • Ability to weigh competing priorities, manage tradeoffs and evaluate opportunistic new ideas with stakeholders, driving to consensus while maintaining a clear focus on overarching business priorities
    • Experience managing complex products, which incorporate advanced algorithms and machine learned models

    Director of Platform Product Management

    General Responsibilities

    • Create, deploy, drive, and own the discovery, design, build and implementation of a platform to address the unique needs of a talent marketplace. 
    • Focus areas include core platform services for internal product engineering teams and products for internal users who ensure smooth operations across the marketplace, including the core machine learning matching algorithms at the heart of the marketplace.
    • Articulate the short and long term Product strategy & roadmap, ensuring alignment with the overall product roadmap and the larger Andela organization by setting the right drivers & metrics.
    • Lead others through thought leadership and influence, driving results for complex, cross-functional initiatives in a 0 to 1 approach
    • Design common features for the platform, across core & new business areas. The successful candidate will be motivated by the ability to play a significant role in ensuring that Andela is successful in scaling its new businesses while continuing its long-held reputation of exceeding customer expectations for its core Match business.
    • Uncover ways to differentiate Andela’s talent marketplace via the platform: channel partnerships, monetized components, global expansion, etc. 
    • Become the face of the platform both for internal stakeholders and our end users
    • Be responsible for the management and leadership development of a team of  managers of  Product Managers within the organization
    • Help the team scale through operational excellence in everything you do, from planning, to team management, to communication processes.

    Requirements

    Director of Product Marketing

    General Responsibilities

    • Grow and manage a distributed team of product marketing managers. 
    • Build and maintain a market intelligence program - systematically collect qualitative and quantitative inputs, draw on sharp analytical skills, and intuition to find patterns and opportunities that can be turned into actionable insights in support of Product, Marketing, and customer-facing teams.
    • Using this knowledge, and in partnership with product leadership, develop the long-term strategic product roadmap to deliver against revenue growth, profitability, and user acquisition goals.
    • Shape all formal internal and external communications on product features and releases.  
    • Build out a detailed product marketing roadmap and strategy against our ICPs.
    • Create sales and marketing collateral against products and customer segments, and work with enablement teams to ensure adequate training programs are in place to drive user engagement and success.
    • Work with sales and talent leadership to develop tools, content, messaging, and any other collateral needed to drive value and increase user engagement across the marketplace.
    • Manage the go-to-market planning and execution for new products and service offerings, including product positioning, messaging, storytelling, pricing, and packaging.
    • Build and maintain an analyst relations program.
    • Be a spokesperson for our products to both external and internal audiences. 

    Key Deliverables 

    • In the first 30 days, you will familiarize yourself with our customers, product, and the broader market in which we operate.
    • In the first 60 days, you will have defined key initiatives that will support quarterly and annual goals, and kicked off with broad stakeholder alignment.
    • In the first 90 days, you will have refined our persona and account segmentation artifacts, established customer journeys using a jobs-to-be-done framework, and built out a competitor mapping to better highlight user experience improvements and recommendations.

    Qualifications 

    • 10+ years of overall professional experience.
    • 5+ years of Product Marketing experience, or equivalent leadership experience in a combination of product management and marketing roles at a fast-growing startup.
    • Data-driven approach to gathering customer and market insights and packaging them for go-to-market alignment.
    • Experience balancing competing interests of senior stakeholders across teams. 
    • Proven leadership managing best-in-class cross-functional teams, driving success using influence, data-driven persuasion, and collaboration. 
    • Ability to balance strategic, conceptual, and analytical thinking with deep customer empathy and understanding of underlying motivations.
    • As an expert storyteller, you have the ability to simplify complex user needs, value propositions, and benefits tailored to different audiences.
    • You have a passion for talent-driven marketplaces, the tech industry, and the future of work.

    Program Manager

    Description

    • We need a Program Manager to join the Business Delivery team. The Program Manager position will help drive forward cross-functional projects as well as identify new projects and areas of opportunity. Flexibility and the ability to quickly learn will be key to your success in this role as we will be bringing you into some projects from the beginning to help identify scope, and other already in-flight projects to help fight fires and steer the ship towards success!
    • The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter and problem solver with previously earned value management experience. We will encourage you to identify areas of improvement, work independently and with primary collaborators to address sophisticated issues and work well within a team environment.
    • You will be leading several initiatives forward at once and are responsible for reporting on the project status. Your aim will be to keep teams aligned on the plan's mission.

    Responsibilities

    • Find opportunities for improvement and process definition and propose projects to benefit the organization
    • Lead projects from discovery to launch
    • Build and maintain project plans and corresponding reports to collaborators
    • Manage communication between cross-functional teams with opposing priorities, helping identify next steps
    • Build project charter documents, define requirements and encouraged outcomes, and ensure projects move forward against timelines and deliverables
    • Identify success metrics for each project at the kickoff and report out on them during the retrospective

    Requirements

    • 4+ years of project management experience or 3+ years of program experience
    • Strong communication and experience working with different teams and people of all levels.
    • Experience crafting project teams from scratch
    • Interpersonal & analytical skills
    • Experience with conflict resolution and managing shifting priorities while maintaining control
    • Risk management and capacity to identify critical paths and bottlenecks and identify a path forward
    • Leadership skills with the proficiency to empower and focus teams to reach a meaningful goal as well as the capability to think tactically and strategically
    • Being human - knowing when to ask for help, reach out for support, or learn something new while keeping a positive attitude
