We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to oversee financial operations, reporting, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will have strong experience within a manufacturing or PLC environment, with the ability to ensure financial integrity, compliance, and effective financial management.
Key responsibilities
Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company's long-term vision and objectives to optimize value for shareholders in the businesses.
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with regulatory requirements and international accounting standards.
Advise on long-term business and financial planning whilst proactively managing all financial elements.
Prepare an annual bottom-up budget using realistic budget assumptions and produce quarterly forecast updates in the light of actual information to meet corporate timetable.
Analyse and explain deviations of actual results from budget and forecasts prior to submission of monthlies.
Develop/update operational policies, processes, and procedures for the department.
Manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to support operational needs and strategic initiatives.
Optimize banking relationships and financing arrangements to minimize costs and maximize returns.
Monitor foreign exchange exposure and implement hedging strategies as necessary.
Provide insightful financial analysis and recommendations to support decision-making at all levels of the organization.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to assess business performance and drive continuous improvement.
Ensure that all transactions are real, correctly calculated, appropriately approved, and completely and accurately booked on a timely basis to meet the standard financial control policy.
Lead and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Establish and develop relations with senior management and external partners and stakeholders.
Any other duties assigned by the Managing Director and Board of Directors.
Requirements
Bachelor or Masters degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce or a related field
10–15 years’ experience in finance leadership roles in medium-to-large Accounting/Finance Department preferably in the PLC or manufacturing industry.
Have proven working experience in the preparation of accounts, budgets and financial analysis.
Mandatory experience in manufacturing or PLC environments.
Strong knowledge of IFRS and finiancial regulations.
Strong experience in financial reporting, controls, and compliance.
Strong understanding of costing, inventory management, and operational finance
Experience with audit processes and regulatory compliance
High level of financial accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent is required
A good understanding of local taxation regime
Knowledge of policies and practices associated with payroll and benefits administration.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain detailed records
Proficiency in ERP and accounting systems i.e. SAP, Dynamics 365 etc. and other computer/software packages e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint etc.
Ability to interact effectively with the rest of the Management as well as shareholders.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
15–20 years experience, with a minimum of 10 years in executive commercial leadership roles within manufacturing or PLC environments.
Demonstrated ownership of large-scale commercial operations, including multi-billion naira revenue portfolios and full P&L accountability.
Strong experience driving market penetration and brand dominance in highly competitive, price-sensitive markets.
Strong understanding of value chain, distribution networks, and retail landscapes (traditional trade, modern trade, e-commerce).
Proven track record of leading business transformation or turnaround initiatives, including entering new markets or restructuring commercial functions.
Deep expertise in pricing strategy, margin optimization, and revenue growth management.
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to link market insights to executable growth strategies.
Exceptional negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
