     Job Summary  

    To provide quality logistic support for IMC project sites in Shani, Nigeria and to work with other members of the logistics team to develop and implement efficient logistical support systems for International Medical Corps (IMC) in a complex operation.

    Dimensions

    Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Ensure procurement are conducted in line with IMC policies and procedures, through the IMC logistics, purchasing and supply procedures in compliance with donor requirements and regulations.
    • Review all requisitions and liaise with Procurement Officer in Maiduguri to ensure that adequate specifications and correct budget estimates are provided.
    • Working with the Procurement Officer, provide timely information to the programme department on status of their procurement actions.
    • Manage warehouse/store located in Shani following IMC policy.
    • Provide information to the Warehouse team on dispatches expected and advice on any special instruction to expedite delivery to the destination.
    • Assist the Procurement Officer in maintaining accurate records of all procurement transactions, as required, both electronically and manually for audit trail.
    • Keep tracking of all PRS and procurement records and Assist the Procurement Officer to generate regular logistics reports (i.e., production of requisition tracking sheet, Request order reports, Purchase order reports, etc.) and other relevant logistics reports.
    • Work closely with the field office programme and finance team to ensure the compilation of invoices, delivery notes, GRNs and other receipts to facilitate invoice processing in field office level.
    • Manage field office generators and vehicles with regular guidance and consultation with Supply Chain Manager.
    • Effective communication with all relevant departments (particularly programme and finance) on any issues relating to logistics and the associated processes involved
    • Be ready for deployment to other logistics functions such as warehouse, fleet, or programme to allow career growth and development.
    • Assume other additional responsibilities as assigned by the line manager and technical manager.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • A Degree or HND in a relevant Business field is desired
    • At least 1 year of experience in large scale Logistics operation, Manufacturing and or food assistance distribution.
    • Strong organizational skills and discipline to follow outlined procedures; ability to interact effectively with international and national personnel.
    • Excellent oral and written English skills. High computer skills on MS Office (Excel, Words. Outlook) programs.
    • A demonstrated ability to multi-task and process information into action as to not delay program activities.
    • A clear understanding of procurement ethics and donor compliance is essential.

    Protection Officer

    Protection Officer to be based in Shani.

     Job Summary:  

    The selected candidate will work as part of the core team to ensure that gender and protection issues of beneficiaries are identified and addressed at all stages while implementing resilience and social cohesion Nutrition and Livelihood Program by IMC in Shani LGA.

    Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Ensure the delivery of protection activities in all Nutrition and livelihood sites covered by IMC within Shani LGA.
    • Undertake regular field visits with the teams to identify and address, along with the sectorial teams, potential protection concerns arising from IMC humanitarian response.
    • Prepare for and organize community consultations and community-based orientation sessions, in coordination with IMC team(s) and other partners.
    • Participates in developing and updating the mapping of services for threats and abuses (including GBV) that beneficiaries face in IMC operation areas.
    • Lead and supervise assessment teams during thematic surveys, needs assessment and data collection for protection-related research.
    • With support of the Project Manager, follow-up with humanitarian actors about requests and invitations for community sessions.
    • Monitor protection issues affecting host population in IMC areas of operation.
    • Support the Project Manager and Team to strategize, plan for and ensure appropriate integration and mainstreaming of protection through all program activities and the various stages in a distribution site.
    • With support of the Project Manager, develop and update relevant Information, Education and Communication tools (leaflets, brochures, posters etc.) that can be used during beneficiaries' sensitization sessions.
    • Support the Project Manager in developing safe programming and conflict-sensitive approaches to the humanitarian response.
    • In collaboration with the Project Manager, ensure program staff are fully trained on existing referral systems and relevant SOPs for protection cases, include training of community/ beneficiaries, community leaders, Project Management Committees (PMCs), Lead Mothers and key stakeholders on protection issues as per the project training plan.
    • Sensitize beneficiaries on available feedback mechanisms and maintain an open communication with them to obtain feedback and complaints with regards to protection issues and ensure corrective actions are taken and monitored.
    • Ensure most vulnerable people are identified and prioritized during program activities.
    • Disseminate protection related findings from PDMs and ensure the recommendations are implemented effectively.
    • Work with the Security Manager to ensure effective crowd control and safety of beneficiaries and staff.

    Coordination:

    • Develop lines of communication and close collaboration with the other protection implementing stakeholders and contribute to a coordinated humanitarian response.
    • Liaise with logistic and procurement to ensure protection activities have the required resources in good time. Complete and keep records of the necessary reports.
    • Attend external meetings in coordination with Project Manager.
    • Coordinate field activities with other IMC teams.
    • Attend internal and external protection related meetings.

    Reporting:

    • Produce gender and protection updates that will be included in field visit reports.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • University degree in a relevant discipline (law, political science, social science, psychology or any other relevant education profile), or comparable addition to experience.
    • Previous experience in protection within a humanitarian response and providing counseling services that are gender-sensitive and child friendly.
    • Previous experience with Blanket Supplementary Feeding Program (BSFP) and Cash Programming in terms of e-voucher modality.
    • Experience in working in Borno State
    • Demonstrate experience (minimum 2 years) in working with communities in humanitarian or development contexts.
    • Capacity and willingness to regularly travel to the field locations where IMC operates.

    Nutrition Officer

    Nutrition Officer to be based in Shani.

     Job Summary:  

    The primary functions of the Nutrition Officer is to provide leadership and overall day to day management of all Nutrition Food Security programming at Shani LGA, participate in defining intervention priorities, develop necessary contacts and relationships with government, non-government, donors and UN agencies at the field level; Contribute to the development of strategies and manage existing programs and resources, and provide day to day supervision, management and coaching of Nutrition team in Shani LGA. Ensure that International Medical Corps program is delivering the highest level of quality of nutrition services in line with national and international guideline.

    TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Effective implementation of nutrition assistance in the form of e-vouchers to households with children who are malnourished or have been discharged from Stabilization Centers (SC), Outpatient Therapeutic Feeding Program (OTP) and Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP.
    • Provide key health and nutrition messages through community structures such as Mother Care Groups and Project Management Committees (PMC) as well as during cash distribution, community sensitization and engagement sessions and asset creation/livelihoods activities
    • Guide establishment of kitchen gardens and combining vegetable production with cooking demonstrations to encourage better use of produce for household consumption
    • Participate in any nutrition sector-specific assessments and make technical recommendations for appropriate activities, both for initial disaster response phase and for longer-term disaster risk reduction and transition phase.
    • Determine the cause of malnutrition in the emergency response and formulate appropriate responses that will address the cause.
    • Provide direct hands-on technical support to Nutrition Program Assistants and IMC partners to effectively and innovatively manage nutrition projects with focus on key technical areas
    • Ensure that emergency nutrition and related projects are technically sound, environmentally friendly, socially and cultural acceptable.
    • Actively represent International Medical Corps in nutrition sector discussions and activities, serve as an International Medical Corps nutrition sector resource person, and display technical and organizational leadership in sectorial activity commensurate with the role as a primary resource person for International Medical Corps in your Working areas.
    • Manage International Medical Corps' nutrition response and recovery activities across a wide range of actors within International Medical Corps, donors, host governments, UN and NGO partners to ensure consistency of programming.
    • Strong negotiation skill with the partners, host community and government officials.
    • Actively participate and represent IMC in State and LGA nutrition CMAM Cluster meetings.
    • Assist in development of, or provide technical review for, emergency response proposals to be submitted by International Medical Corps to ensure that proposed activities and programs align with best practice in the nutrition sector. As appropriate, suggest new developments in the nutrition sector to International Medical Corps programming;
    • Be fully aware of national policies, strategies and other initiatives and developments by government and other stakeholders in the area of nutrition. Regularly assess the implications for IMC's program and priorities of any changes in the operating environment in this sector and report on these to the Program Manager and Nutrition Coordinator as required.
    • Actively participate in surveys done at the Community level (KAP, SMART, Causal Analysis, Barriers, Coverage, JANFSA, ENNA).
    • Ensure development of core skills and competencies in Nutrition and Food Security among IMC staff in the project offices.
    • Provide technical support and training where required to all team members and partners.
    • Build the capacity of Technical, Community Health Volunteers (CHVs), Community Nutrition Mobilizers (CNMs) and committees to deliver quality service and undertake participatory monitoring of the implementation of the project works and record lessons learned and reports.
    • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports to donors, line departments and sectors.
    • Strengthen partnerships, institutional linkages and working relationships.

    Coordination

    • Work closely with community structures to follow up on implementation of nutrition activities and support.
    • Supervise the Implementation of sensitization activities whilst collaborating with key stakeholders
    • Represent IMC in LGA-level coordination meetings and conferences as necessary when requested

    Reporting

    • Support to track the progress of activities, challenges encountered, lessons learned and good practices and Compile collected data, pictures and other information from the field
    • Pass on any information or problems to his/her direct and/or indirect supervisor concerning his/her task, IMC programs, or safety aspects.
    • Keep monitoring tools and files archived at the IMC office, ensuring their availability to his/her supervisor.
    • Compile information to ensure that the nutrition situation in the area of implementation of the program is achieving the expected result, when required

    Livestock Officer

    International Medical Corps is therefore looking for a suitable candidate to fill the position of

    Livestock Officer to be based in Shani.

     Job Summary:  

    The Livestock officer will be responsible for the overall management implementation & monitoring of the livestock and aquaculture activities of the Nutrition, Livelihoods and Resilience project in Shani LGA which includes poultry and small ruminant distribution, feeds distribution, disease control and training. The Livestock officer will technically be supervised and supported by the Program manager.

    Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Conduct rapid assessment to identify specific operational villages/locations for livestock asset creation activities.
    • Lead the process of beneficiary selection as per the criteria set by the project in collaboration with local administrations and community representatives.
    • Lead community based participatory planning exercise and development of community action plans for livestock asset creation activities.
    • Lead the implementation of the livestock assets creation component of the project as per the timeframe, budget and resources set and implement the project within the specified parameters.
    • Actively participate in conducting the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) in collaboration with the M&E officer.
    • Actively engage in formation of local committees and community mobilization.
    • Facilitate and provide animal husbandry and disease control trainings and livestock disease control in collaboration with relevant line ministries.
    • Joint planning and provide capacity building activities with the program manager.
    • Maximize the nutritional sensitivity of the project by working closely with nutrition program team.
    • Provide capacity building and backstopping to livestock assistants/volunteers under your supervision.
    • Prepare and submit regular internal reports on all livestock asset creation activities and.
    • Prepare external reports as per the donor format.
    • Implement poultry, small ruminant, and feeds distribution.
    • Build capacity of beneficiaries on animal husbandry, disease monitoring and control, hygienic handling and value addition of livestock products, and conduct scheduled regular visits to their farms.
    • Participate in food security & livelihoods related assessment missions with other stakeholders in the area representing International Medical Corps.
    • Actively represent International Medical Corps in food security and livelihoods cluster and early recovery coordination meetings.
    • Capture lessons learnt from monitoring and evaluations, document success stories, and replicate successful projects and scale up.
    • Understand the gaps in food security and come up with project idea, write concept notes and share with technical supervisor.
    • If required, lead the process of national staff recruitment in close collaboration with Nutrition Coordination and FSL manager, Human Resource and train the newly hired staff.
    • Work with M&E team to develop monitoring tool, sending weekly update to the program manager, follow up closely and update the team if the situation in the ground is changing quickly.

    HR/Admin Assistant

     Job Summary:  

    The Human Resources/Admin Assistant under the supervision of HR/Admin Officer will support new hires for the organization including recruitment, screening, recruiting, interview and employee placement. He/she will on-board new employees, and guide through the complicated process of compliance because HR represents both the employees and the organization. The Human Resources and Admin Assistant must be well-organized when performing administrative and strategic hiring duties.     TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Human Resources

    • Assist in ensuring staff compliance with human resources polices, as per IMC’s Operations Handbook and HR Handbook.
    • Ensure that leave, recruitment, and training trackers are updated on a regular basis.
    • Monitor staff attendance and ensure that all staff timesheets are submitted and filed on time.
    • Assist in communicating with interview candidates and scheduling for tests and interviews.

    Agronomy Assistant

    2 Agronomy Assistants to be based in Shani.
    Position: Nigerian nationals only
     Job Summary:  

    The Agronomy assistant will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation and monitoring of agriculture asset creation activities in the Nutrition, Livelihoods and Resilience project in Shani LGA. The Agronomy assistant will technically be supervised and supported by the Agronomy Officer.

    TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Ensure Agriculture asset creation activities are implemented based on directions provided by the Agronomy Officer. The Agronomy Assistant provides key linkage between beneficiaries and IMC field office in Shani.
    • Liaise with and/or make follow up with the community project management committees on project implementation based on agreed deliverables from community action plans, beneficiary registration, facilitation of pre-distribution training,
    • Organize FFA, seeds and tools distributions and field data collection at baseline, post distribution monitoring and end line.
    • Conduct beneficiary sensitization for FFA and agriculture asset creation at the village level
    • Take lead in FFA, seeds and tools distribution process which includes beneficiary verification.
    • Write weekly updates to update of implementation at district level.

    Nutrition Assistant

    International Medical Corps is therefore looking for suitable candidates to fill the position of

    4 Nutrition Assistants to be based in Shani.
    Position: Nigerian nationals only
     Job Summary:  

    The selected candidate (s) will be responsible for the overall implementation of the nutrition program and IYCF components in collaboration with other CMAM nutrition partners and integration with other programs/ S/He will facilitate good practice and ensure compliance with applicable implementation of national CMAM guidelines that beneficiaries will receive support through the implementation of Cash Based Transfer with the use of e-voucher modality in Shani LGA.

    TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    •  Supporting targeting of beneficiaries; formation and establishment of Mother Care groups; selection of community volunteers and members of community structures.
    •  Work closely with care group promoters and lead mothers to ensure all aspects of the program are understood and agreed and appropriate referrals take place to and from the community.
    •  Take lead on the services at the retailers’ shops including verification, validation of beneficiaries.
    •  Ensure that the vendor shops are clean, food commodities provided are as per the variety and prices indicated, food commodities are not expired and are of good quality, beneficiaries are not short changed and they are served with dignity
    •  Work closely with the lead mothers to ensure all children and women are screened correctly.
    •   Ensure all eligibility criteria are respected and understood by the teams, including admission, discharge.
    •  Encourage caregivers to access health facilities and have all children immunized according to the national protocols.
    •  Provide key WASH, health and nutrition education messages to beneficiaries based on the protocols and guidelines including messages on, distribution days, beneficiary rights etc. during sensitization sessions.
    •  Respond to inquiries regarding the technical aspects of the program admission.
    • Follow-up and ensure the field team interacts with the beneficiaries and community leaders properly.
    •  Represent the organization at LGA meetings involving nutrition actors.
    •  Any other duties that may be assigned from time by supervisors.

    Coordination:

    • Work closely with community structures to follow up on implementation of nutrition activities and support
    • Supported by Nutrition Officer, supervise the implementation of sensitization activities whilst collaborating with key stakeholders
    • Represent IMC in LGA-level coordination meetings and conferences supported by Nutrition Officer as necessary when requested.

    Reporting:

    • Support to track the progress of activities, challenges encountered, lessons learned and good practices and Compile collected data, pictures and other information from the field
    • Pass on any information or problems to his/her direct and/or indirect supervisor concerning his/her task, IMC programs, or safety aspects
    • Keep monitoring tools and files archived at the IMC office, ensuring their availability to his/her supervisor
    • Compile information to ensure that the nutrition situation in the area of implementation of the program is achieving the expected result, when required.
    • Provide feedback to the programme team based on the field monitoring visits
    • Support the project team in developing high quality project/programme reports
    • Liaise with M&E Team to ensure timely submission of contributions.  Support the M&E team in analysis of beneficiary data collection through the various tools

    • Fluent in written and spoken English, Hausa and Kanuri.
