Illustrator Assistant- Temporary Appointment

It is a non-profit organization with a mandate of making the lives of vulnerable people especially in the face of disaster or crises. GPON is presently operating in the North-eastern regional part of Nigeria where we have reached over 1,000,000 lives with relief materials, child protection services, GBV mitigation services, livelihood skill-building, health services, and Education support services.

We are looking to hire a talented illustrator to create high-quality artwork for our digital and print media.

• Prepare and designing rough draft illustrations according to specifications.
• Define any budget or time limitations.
• Create complete illustrations by combining painting, hand-drawn and digitally created images.
• Refine image design using illustration software.
• Enhance the design concept using a wide range of colors and graphics.
• Format final illustrations using CAD software.
• Ensure that printed illustrations meet specified color and quality standards.
• Portfolio of completed illustrations.
• Prior work experience as an Illustrator, graphic designer, or similar.
• Work experience using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
• Drawing, painting and digital drawing skills.
• Knowledge of image editing and design software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong conceptual and artistic skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in fine arts.

Requirements

Solid knowledge of image editing and digital sketching software

BSc degree in Design, Visual Arts or relevant qualification

Conversant with design software’s such as 

• Photoshop.
• Adobe InDesign.
• Adobe illustrator or relevant illustration software.
• Corel draw.

Printer and Machines

• Direct imaging bizhub 360/c650 printer
• Large-format banner printing machine
• Must know how to use heat transfer branding machine.

• Contribute immensely towards media, digital and communication as part of advocacy development in all programmes 
• Agrees on media and communication as part of advocacy issues and together with the relevant programme staff identifies advocacy and communication issues related to GOALPrime’s work
• Support Programme Officers in building Networks to carry out advocacy on programmes
• Design and produce training and educational materials on media and communication
• Develops work plans, individual development plans, and regular reports to supervisor
• Support programme partners in media and communications related capacity building and ensuring that this is integrated within programmes 
• Supports in identifying potential new strategic media partners for GOALPrime and develop strategies for working with them. 
• Have responsibility for the monitoring and supervision of media as part of advocacy related partner activities and plans in Nigeria by ensuring that these are in line with GOALPrime’s strategy in Nigeria 
• Document and publish GOALPrime’s learning in Nigeria by contributing articles briefing notes, media publications and case studies for GOALPrime’s campaigns.
• Support GOALPrime staff and partners in getting relevant messages across to target audiences within and outside the organisation on major activities.
• Contribute in GOALPrime’s bulletin and other relevant publications and production. 
• Frequently update GOALPrime’s social media outlets (Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, etc.) and ensure we disseminate information about our program on a daily basis 
• Develop and sustain relationship with the media and the civil society groups in Nigeria to feed into GOALPrime's advocacy work. 
• Ensure adequate media coverage for all programme activities, functions and press releases/press statements 
• Visit field programmes on a regular basis to take quality photos, record success stories and human-interest stories.
• Build a database of high-quality activity Photos for GPON archives.
• Document project activity via photos and videos
• Editing/Archiving photos and timely submission to supervisor.
• Draft and deliver necessary reporting documents related to media.
• Develop and maintain a media network with international and local journalists and advise on media engagements.
• Perform any other duties assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications

Essential

• BSc, HND, or equivalent.
• Previous relevant experience in photography and video editing
• Ability to use photo editing software (Adobe and Lightroom) and camera equipment.

• Good communication and influencing skills
• Culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact, and diplomacy.
• Good English language skills, knowledge, and ability to speak Hausa and Kanuri is an added advantage
• 2-year previous experience

Job Summary

• The Borehole Technician/Engineer will work in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe (BAY) States in camps and host communities with frequent travels to deep field locations.
• Manage water technology including designing, quantifying, specifying of boreholes, preparing contractual documents and managing them, managing geophysical studies, submersible and hand pump installation and repairs, submersible and hand pump repair and maintenance training, designing and constructing water distribution systems, pump testing, water quality testing, hand dug well construction.
• The Borehole Technician will also be responsible in coordinating the GOALPrime water unit of the WASH department creating and drafting technical designs and submitting regular reports on the work being completed.
• The technician's responsibilities include monitoring and servicing systems, diagnosing problems and troubleshooting equipment, running tests and completing reports, updating and improving existing systems, and repairing or replacing faulty equipment.

Job Descriptions:

• Participate in the WASH water technical working group meeting
• Rehabilitation and drilling of new boreholes – liaising with the community leaders, carrying out assessments to establish sites for new water points, reticulations, writing assessment reports about field trips, preparing plan for rehabilitation/drilling with supervision from the Water Technical Supervisor Borehole and other water scheme repairs – carrying out repairs of boreholes and other water schemes (Water Reservoir, Fetching point and losses soak pit) with support from the Water Technical Supervisor
• Installation of Water Flow metering device, Solar Panels, Inverter, Submersibles, bolts, bearings, replacement of pipes, correcting leakages in unions and back not etc.
• Upgrading boreholes from hand pump to Hybrid (3 powering sources which include Solar energy, Mechanical energy and Human energy)
• Work with Water Technicians Assistants, Local Area Mechanics (LAM) and Boreholes Operators.
• Assisting in setting up Surface Water Treatment plants (SWTp) – construction of the collection point, erecting bladder tanks basement and monitoring the chlorinators
• Documentation and monitoring of water infrastructure/water point mapping – documentation of any WASH technical work done in the community
• Monitor and inspect private contractor work at vital construction milestones per project schedule
• Provide supervision, technical assistance and project management skills to local staff within BAY States.
• Assisting in water quality testing and analysis, present results to relevant parties
• Ensure chlorination as per standards
• Facilitating appropriate community involvement in the design and delivery of essential WASH services and facilities,
• Coordinate with local authorities and local communities,
• Work with Water Technical Supervisor in planning and implementation of proper WASH response in targeted areas,
• Strengthen capacity of Local Area Mechanics to ensure sustainability of the project,
• Maintain an accurate record and taking proper care of all field equipment and material stocks for the WASH facilities
• Keeping proper records of field expenditures and reporting accordingly
• Assisting in writing donor reports.
• Translating project documents into local languages Hausa/Kanuri/fulfulde when required
• Respond to WASH emergencies in other locations as they may occur.
