    Communications Assistant

    Overview of position:

    • Working under the overall supervision of the Program Manager Peacebuilding & Reconciliation & the Public Information Officer & the direct supervision of the National Communication Officer or Senior Communications Assistant, Abuja, the successful candidate will support communication activities & plans across our clients Katsina sub office programmatic work areas.
    • S / He will be responsible for collecting information to produce various communications products for external & internal audiences. In collaboration with the public information team, s / he is responsible for the following tasks in accordance with our clients regulations, rules & procedures.

    In particular, s / he will:

    • Support collection, dissemination & editing of field materials like images, videos & interviews with beneficiaries for different audiences, including government partners, donors & media.
    • Support the planning & coordination of communication activities, including through online & offline communications.
    • Assist with adhering to our clients brand & visibility guidelines & rules.
    • Contribute with ideas to the conceptualization & development of communications materials, including multimedia products & content for social media channels for our clients Nigeria & other global platforms.
    • Assist with responding to media inquiries & other ad hoc requests.
    • Collect & collate information from various units at the sub office to support the production of briefers, situation reports, donor reports, website texts, brochures, flyers & social media messages.
    • Capture & record human interest stories.
    • Conceptualize, design & edit flyers, project brochures, newsletters, project reports etc.
    • Adhere to our clients protection principles on interviewing vulnerable persons.
    • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

    Project reporting:

    • This role works under the overall supervision of the Program Manager Peacebuilding & Reconciliation & the Public Information Officer & the direct supervision of the National Communication Officer or Senior Communications Assistant, Abuja.

    Key competencies:

    • University Degree / Certificate in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training & experience.
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in communications & public information.
    • Proven ability to produce work accurately & concisely according to set deadlines.
    • Strong communication, coordination & interpersonal skills.
    • Efficiency, flexibility, high level of professionalism & ability to work under pressure & adhere to strict deadlines.
    • Ability to stay in high risk areas for a prolonged duration with remote management from supervisors.

    • Fluency in English & Hausa is required.

    Program Assistant (M&E and Reporting)

    Overview of position:

    • Working under the overall supervision of the Conflict Mitigation & Community Reconciliation Program Manager & under the direct supervision of the MEAL & Reporting Officer the successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring operations of the EU project & providing M&E analysis, reporting, administrative & general office program support for the implementation of the EU project “conflict mitigation & community reconciliation” project in Katsina, Nigeria.

    Role objectives:

    • Support the planning & implementation of the Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting (MER) activities of the program, which will include results matrix, work plans & monitoring compliance of indicators of different projects.
    • Coordinate on designing pre & post training evaluation questionnaire that responds to the needs of the project.
    • Conduct data quality checks in the field & ensure the accuracy & completeness of survey questionnaires.
    • Support the design & implementation of data gathering tools for project implementation.
    • Carry out project field visits & support the establishment of beneficiary feedback mechanisms of the project in collaboration with the other program units & implementing partners.
    • Support the development of a tracking tool for the successful monitoring of project milestones & indicators, for periodic reporting to program management.
    • Ensure timely submission, review & consolidation of reports submitted by implementing partners, which includes monthly reports.
    • Support in the development of concept notes, proposals for new projects & upscaling of the ongoing projects, based on lessons learnt.
    • Support the program team in planning & organizing meetings, workshops, consultations, events & dialogues, especially those involving donors.
    • Support the M&E & Reporting Officer in keeping documentation of the meetings with the donors, IP partners & counterparts.
    • Ensure that hard & soft copies of data collected are kept at project sites.
    • Prepare informative field reports, identify shortcomings / gaps & make relevant recommendations on a regular basis.
    • Support in conducting training & capacity building support to the program staff on various aspects related to MER.
    • In coordination with the other unit of the program, document lessons learnt case stories for donor reports & our clients website & newsletters.
    • Support the MEAL Officer in preparing clear & innovative presentations of the project data such as Power Point presentations & information sheets.
    • Serve as a focal point for knowledge management of the program, ensuring that original & copies of official documents are appropriately drafted, disseminated (referencing & tracking) & shared on common client mission platforms in Nigeria.
    • Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

    Project reporting:

    • This role works under the overall supervision of the Conflict Mitigation & Community Reconciliation Program Manager & under the direct supervision of the MEAL & Reporting Officer.

    Key competencies:

    • University Degree in Development, Social or Political Sciences, Management, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with 3 years of relevant experience working in similar role or a High School Diploma in the above field with 5 years of relevant working experience.
    • Experience in coordination with other stake holders.
    • Experience in project implementation and in the field of research, monitoring, evaluation & reporting in insecure environments.
    • Experience in MER system design, data processing & tools.
    • Strong reporting skills.
    • Experience working in a complex crisis environment or a post conflict environment.
    • Experience in the application of good practice in project management such as participatory approaches & do no harm.
    • Demonstrate initiative & ability to work independently & as a member of a team to coordinate & / or lead the efforts to effectively meet M&E needs.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher & Share Point.
    • Previous work experience in international organizations & companies would be an advantage.
    • Strong sense of details & accuracy in all matters.
    • Reliable, able to work under pressure, good organizational skills & drive for results.
    • Knowledge about peacebuilding & DDRR programming would be an advantage.
    • Knowledge of the UN system & ideally of our clients rules & regulations would be an advantage.

    Conflict Mitigation and Community Reconciliation Consultant

    Overview of position:

    • Working under the overall supervision of the Deputy Chief of Mission & direct supervision of the Conflict Mitigation & Community Reconciliation Program Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating community engagement, communication & coordination in the context of conflict mitigation & community reconciliation efforts in the Local Government Areas (LGA’s) of Batsari, Danmusa, Jibia & Kankara respectively in Katsina state, by fostering dialogue, understanding & collaboration among community members & stakeholders.
    • Support in the organization of a 1 quarter meeting with the state steering committee at the state level in Katsina in support of the implementation of the EU project “conflict mitigation & community reconciliation” project in Katsina, Nigeria.

    Role objectives:

    • Identify & engage key community stakeholders, including community leaders, volunteers & relevant organizations, to establish & manage CRNs.
    • Maintain a comprehensive database of CRN members & their skills / resources.
    • Organize & facilitate regular CRN meetings, ensuring active participation & collaboration among members & 1 monthly meeting with the technical steering committee at the LGAs level & 1 meeting with the state steering committee at Katsina.
    • Develop and deliver training programs on conflict resolution, reconciliation & peacebuilding for community members including CRNs members & steering committee members at LGA.
    • Provide guidance & support to community members in developing conflict mitigation & reconciliation action plans.
    • Establish & maintain effective communication channels within the community, including community meetings, workshops & information sharing platforms.
    • Ensure timely dissemination of critical information related to conflict mitigation & reconciliation efforts.
    • Conduct conflict assessments & analyses to identify conflict triggers, dynamics & potential solutions.
    • Prepare & submit regular reports on conflict analysis findings, community initiatives & CRN activities.
