    Project Assistant (Remote Hotline)

    Job Description

    • Applications are welcome from internal and external candidates.     Context

    • Working under the overall supervision of the Programme Manager (Protection/MHPSS) and in close coordination with other unit’s staff, the incumbent will support the Protection/MHPSS remote hotlines. S/he will provide affected individuals with accurate information on available protection and psychosocial services, communicating in Hausa, English, and Fulfulde languages with communities in Plateau, Taraba, and Taraba states. The role will involve receiving, processing, and responding to community feedback and complaints, facilitating referrals and follow-ups, and handling all information with confidentiality and respect for affected populations.

    Responsibilities

    • Support community awareness activities on the purpose and use of remote hotlines.
    • Receive calls through the hotline and provide information on available protection and psychosocial services in languages like Hausa, English, and Fulfulde. 
    • Record complaints and feedback from affected populations, provide accurate information and contribute to awareness sessions on frequently raised topics.
    • Refer affected populations to appropriate service providers where needed, based on their concerns and requests.
    • During Awareness-raising activities, promote the use of the hotline by all segments of the community, including the vulnerable groups.
    • Maintain confidentiality when handling information shared through calls, feedback, or referral processes. 
    • Listen attentively and respectfully to individuals’ feedback, requests for information, or complaints.
    • Maintain records of calls received, referrals made, and information provided, disaggregated by age, gender, needs, and type of feedback.
    • Obtain consent from beneficiaries before making referrals.
    • Provide inputs for analysis and reporting on feedback received, actions taken, and information provided through the hotline.   
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education

    • High school diploma with four years of related experience; or,
    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Humanities, and Humanitarian Studies, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of related experience. 

    Experience

    • Experience in community engagement, call centers/hotline operations, protection-related work, or other related areas.
    • Previous experience in humanitarian or community-based work is an advantage.
    • Experience in working with vulnerable populations is desirable.

    Skills

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish effective working relations with colleagues and communities.
    • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and complete assignments proactively. 
    • Good writing and reporting skills.

    Project Associate (Protection)

    Job Description

    Context

    • Under the direct supervision of the Protection/MHPSS Programme Manager and closely coordinating with other MHPSS staff. The incumbent will support the implementation of Protection and MHPSS activities in Plateau Kaduna, Kaduna, and Taraba states through coordination, reporting and logistics support.

    Responsibilities

    • Support the implementation of project activities within the assigned locations, including assisting with logistics, documentation, and coordination of MHPSS and protection activities.
    • Assist in maintaining working relationship with relevant line ministries, agencies, donors, CSOs, and private organization to facilitate positive outcome for beneficiaries.
    • Support the delivery of MHPSS interventions in the field by assisting with logistics, preparation of materials, participation in community activities, and documentation of sessions, including consolidation of activity reports, under the guidance of the Programme Manager and technical staff. 
    • Liaise with relevant stakeholders such as government actors, UN agencies, NGOs and civil society in relation to ongoing project activities, including attending sector working group meetings when requested.
    • Support Monitoring and Evaluation efforts to strengthen Accountability to Affected Population (AAP) mechanisms, including feedback systems, complaints handling.
    • Promote the integration of cross-cutting issues such as protection, gender, child protection, counter trafficking and other themes in the implementation of activities.
    • Undertake duty travel to project locations as required.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    Qualifications

    Education

    • High School diploma with five years of related experience or,
    • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social sciences, social work and community services, Migration Studies, Development studies or in related field from an accredited academic institution with three years of experience.

    Experience

    • Experience in a similar support role, preferably within the humanitarian or development contexts. 
    • Familiarity with local networks, institutions, and stakeholders in the assigned regions.

    Skills

    Project Associate (MHPSS)

    Context

    • The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has been implementing Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) projects in Nigeria since 2014. The projects seek to address the psychosocial needs of the displaced populations and their host community, as affected by the on-going emergency.
    • Under direct supervision of the Protection/MHPSS Programme Manager and close coordination with the Protection/MHPSS staff, the incumbent will contribute to the implementation of the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support activities in Plateau, Taraba, and Kaduna states, as part of the emergency response. More particularly, he/she will be responsible for the following duties:

    Responsibilities

    • Maintain confidentiality in all interactions with beneficiaries and observe ethical practices. 
    • Document beneficiary information at the field level accurately in intake forms and update field records.
    • Collect and provide data from field teams and other sources to the supervisor to support analysis and report preparation for psychosocial and protection-related activities. 
    • Assist in compiling information from field teams and other sources to support the preparation of accurate reports for all psychosocial and protection-related activities.
    • Support monitoring of teams in the accessible areas by participating in coordination sessions and helping with training activities as required.
    • Assist in organizing missions, forums, meetings, workshops, trainings and other project events, in coordination with the project manager, project coordinator, international experts, and other key partners. 
    • Work in close collaboration with the protection mainstreaming expert as well as GBV officer and National Coordinator officer to support activities that address the ongoing needs of at-risk groups, including women and girls, in prevention-related activities.
    • Assist in strengthening existing referral systems and networks of psychosocial/protection service providers by supporting coordination and information sharing.
    • Support the implementation of psychosocial interventions at the field level by helping with documentation and follow-up as needed. 
    • Facilitate regular visits by collecting and compiling reports from the psychosocial support and protection teams and submitting them to supervisors.
    • Liaise with relevant governmental, non-governmental (NGOs), international organizations at the field level on MHPSS and protection issues, providing updates as requested.
    • Support the integration of MHPSS/Protections Principles into the day-to-day project activities.
    • Assist with informal translation or clarification of simple documents or messages between English and local languages, as needed.
    • Assist with project visibility and communication activities by supporting preparation of materials, field-level outreach, and coordination with communications team.  
    • Undertake duty travel to challenging field locations as required. 
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education

    • High School diploma with five years of related experience; or,
    • Bachelor’s degree in humanitarian, psychosocial and mental health fields from an accredited academic institution with three years of professional experience. 
    • Diploma in human science with hands-on experience either from a refugee and/or IDP set up or a related field with three years of related experience. 

    Experience

    • Experience in a similar support role, preferably within the humanitarian or development contexts.
    • Familiarity with local networks, institutions, and stakeholders in the assigned regions

    Skills

    • Good communication skills and ability to ability follow guidance on psychosocial/protection support activities.

    Project Associate (Monitoring and Evaluation)

    Job Description

    Context

    • Working under the direct supervision of the Programme Manager, Protection/MHPSS and closely coordinating with other unit’s staff, the incumbent will support the implementation of IOM’s M&E activities related to GIZ Project in Plateau, Taraba, and Kaduna states, and CPCRR Project in Katsina and Zamfara states, by assisting in collecting, compiling, and reporting project data. In addition, the incumbent will work closely with the MEAL National Officer, National Programme Support Officer, and Project Assistant (Reporting).

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in the preparation of Monitoring and Evaluation reports by compiling data received from field teams and entering it into reporting templates. 
    • Support quality checks during data collection, entry, and storage, and report any inconsistencies to the MEAL team.
    • Assist in updating and maintaining project database and information systems.
    • Support capacity building of PMTs on data capture and routine monitoring of projects including basic use of Excel and simple data visualization tools and assist in orienting staff under guidance.
    • Work with toll-line handlers to share information on the toll-line and the CRFM system and help verify and follow up of AAP feedback received from communities. 
    • Participate in monitoring visits to field locations and assist in documenting case studies and success stories. 
    • Assist in conducting Post Distribution Monitoring surveys, including collecting data, supporting basic analysis, and helping prepare reports.
    • Contribute to the individual M&E activity plans and provide supporting information for the unit’s M&E activity plan.
    • Take part in Monitoring & Evaluation assessments by assisting with data collection, recording, and reporting.
    • Help track the process indicators using the database, compile the Means of Verification (MoVs), and support basic pre- and post-test training activities.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education

    • High School diploma with five years of related experience; or,
    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration, Economics and Humanitarian Studies, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with three years of related experience. 

    Experience

    • Experience in supporting project monitoring and evaluation activities, including data collection, entry, and reporting.
    • Experience assisting with report preparation by compiling information from multiple sources.
    • Experience working with Excel or other basic data entry/analysis tools.
    • Experience working with diverse communities, preferably including vulnerable or marginalized groups.

    Senior Project Associate (Protection/MHPSS)

    • More particularly, he/she will be responsible for the following duties:

    Responsibilities

    • Support implementation of psychosocial support (PSS) activities through coordination of the PSS mobile teams on the ground, including contributing to the development of workplans, coordinating team deployment, and tracking of activities to monitor progress toward project targets. 
    • Provide technical support and monitoring to the PSS teams through weekly supervisions, on-the-job training, and field monitoring of the activities in line with the relevant guidelines and project indicators.   
    • Provide direct MHPSS technical support, either directly or as in-service support for the teams, in close coordination with MHPSS Programme Manager and program technical staff.
    • Contribute to the development of a capacity-building plan for the PSS mobile teams in coordination with the Programme Manager and assist with its implementation. 
    • Support psychosocial-protection mainstreaming initiatives and assist the MHPSS Programme Manager in coordinating the MHPSS-protection activities coordination and projects’ budget monitoring.
    • Liaise and coordinate with relevant stakeholders such as government actors, UN agencies, NGOs and civil society in relation to the project activities. 
    • Consolidate reports from the PSS teams and provide inputs for weekly and biweekly reports, as well as for any other relevant documentation. 
    • Maintain accurate documentation and filing systems of the project activities.
    • Contribute to the preparation of new project proposals by providing inputs based on needs identified during current project implementation, in coordination with the project officer.
    • Promote and facilitate the integration of cross-cutting issues such as protection, gender, child protection, counter trafficking and other vulnerable groups into project activities. 
    • Undertake duty travel to very challenging areas when necessary.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education

    • High school diploma with seven years of related experience or,
    • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, counselling, social sciences, or related fields from accredited academic institution, with five years of professional experience. 

    Experience

    • Participation in IOM corporate training in MHPSS an asset.
    • Experience supporting national and international NGOs in implementing cross-border activities.
    • Experience providing technical support to implementing partners or field teams.
    • Strong computer skills, particularly MS Office applications; advanced Excel skills are an advantage
    • Familiarity with databases and basic knowledge of statistical software (e.g., SPSS) is desirable.
