Functional Oversight: Director of Operations
ROLE PURPOSE
The Accountant is responsible for financial control, revenue protection, cash-flow management, and accurate reporting at Roseann Gold Hotel.
The role ensures that:
- All revenues are fully captured
- All expenses are justified, approved, and correctly recorded
- Financial records are audit-ready at all times
- Management has clear, timely financial insight to support decisions and dividend planning
This is a control and integrity role, not a clerical position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Revenue & Income Control
- Reconcile daily room revenue against PMS, POS, bank inflows, and front desk reports
- Track corporate accounts, long stays, and receivables
- Flag under-posting, revenue leakage, or irregular pricing
- Ensure all discounts, corporate rates, and complimentary stays are properly authorised and recorded
Cash Flow & Expense Management
- Monitor daily cash position and bank balances
- Control petty cash and staff reimbursements
- Track payables and manage supplier payment schedules
- Prevent duplicate, inflated, or unauthorised payments
- Ensure expenses stay within approved budgets
Payroll, Service Charge & Bonus Accuracy
- Prepare monthly payroll accurately and on time
- Calculate and verify:
- Occupancy-linked management bonuses
- Sales commissions
- Service charge distribution
- Ensure compliance with approved payroll structures
- Maintain payroll confidentiality and accuracy
Financial Reporting & Management Intelligence
- Prepare:
- Monthly Profit & Loss statement
- Cash flow summary
- Expense variance analysis
- Track key hotel metrics:
- Occupancy
- ADR
- RevPAR
- Payroll as % of revenue
- Provide clear financial insights to management for decision-making
Compliance & Audit Readiness
- Handle VAT, PAYE, WHT, and statutory filings
- Maintain complete and verifiable financial records
- Support internal and external audits
- Ensure financial practices comply with company policies and Nigerian regulations
Systems & Process Discipline
- Maintain accurate accounting records using approved accounting software
- Enforce documentation for all financial transactions
- Support process improvements to strengthen financial controls
- Work closely with Admin/HR and Operations teams to ensure data accuracy
PERFORMANCE METRICS (KPIs)
The Accountant will be assessed on:
- Accuracy and timeliness of financial reports
- Revenue reconciliation and leakage prevention
- Payroll and bonus accuracy
- Compliance record (zero penalties or audit issues)
- Quality of cash-flow visibility provided to management
- Ability to support sustainable profitability and dividend readiness
COMPENSATION STRUCTURE
- Base Salary: ₦250,000 per month
- Performance Bonus: ₦0 – ₦100,000 per month (occupancy-linked and performance-based)
Bonuses are earned only when the hotel meets approved occupancy and profitability thresholds.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Relevant professional certification is an advantage
- Minimum 2 years accounting experience (hospitality experience preferred)
- Strong understanding of financial controls and reporting
- High level of integrity, discretion, and attention to detail
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines
