    Business Development Manager Power

    Job Summary

    • The Business Development Manager Power is responsible for driving growth and identifying new opportunities related to power and partnerships. This role requires strategic planning, relationship-building, and a deep understanding of the energy sector. The incumbent collaborates with the company's management team to ensure that corporate and business strategies remain relevant and that satisfactory progress is being made toward successful execution. The BDM, Power is tasked with driving business growth by spearheading new business opportunities, capital investment initiatives, operational improvements, and strategic alliances within the power sector. He/she will conduct financial analysis and valuations to support planning and strategy formulation. This role involves analyzing specific strategies, technologies, and markets through the development of financial models, databases, and risk assessment tools. Additionally, the BDM Power, is directly responsible for market, competitor, and industry analysis, benchmarking, project proposals, cost analysis, and business planning.

    Scope of Responsibility and Accountability:

    Strategic

    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in power, including renewable energy projects, electricity generation, and distribution.
    • Acting as Business Opportunity Manager and coordinating the maturation of various business opportunities.
    • Actively involved in the development of long- and short-term business goals, objectives and targets as part of the Company's planning and budgeting process.
    • Lead the market research activities to identify trends, emerging technologies, and new business opportunities in the power and energy sector.
    • Work with business managers and teams on the development and documentation of functional strategic plans which are presented to the Executive Management and Board for approval.
    • Manage the building and nurturing of partnerships with other companies, particularly for non-operated ventures where the business is a stakeholder but not the primary operator.
    • Communicates key information to stakeholders across Axxela Limited as regards marketplace needs, the competitive environment, cost management, and the provision of high-quality customer-focused products and services.
    • Oversee the gathering, analyzing and disseminating information on relevant energy policies involving federal and state regulatory matters.
    • Presents viable business opportunities to the executive management team and investment review committee when required.
    • Negotiating terms and establishing joint venture agreements, partnership terms, or investment frameworks that align with the company’s objectives.
    • Identify changes in the economic and business environment that may potentially warrant modifications to the Company's business and operational support strategies and keeps internal stakeholders informed of organizational and environmental changes and trends that may have an impact on the Company's current and future performance.
    • Engage stakeholders, including partners, government agencies, regulators, and local communities, to build strong relationships and support for power and energy projects.

    Operational

    • Develops comprehensive strategies for marketing, sales, and operations management, along with business plans, budgets, and supporting policies.
    • Facilitates the alignment of the Company’s strategic objectives with daily operations across functional areas.
    • Coordinates the annual strategic planning and budgeting process and assists the Financial Controller with the 5-year business plan, financial forecasting, and variance analysis.
    • Leads sub-teams in business planning and analysis, supporting the formulation and documentation of recommendations for executive and senior management review.
    • Oversees the development of financial models and analytical frameworks to support strategic planning and validate management assumptions.
    • Designs and implements tools for strategy execution and integrated power business performance measurement.
    • Conduct market, competitor, and industry analyses to identify new growth opportunities in power and non-operated ventures.
    • Analyzes potential business improvements through economic, commercial, technical, and financial assessments, following best-practice methodologies.
    • Drives the communication, execution, and monitoring of corporate and functional strategies.
    • Collaborates with business managers to negotiate and finalize business agreements and contracts effectively.
    • Partners with the Legal team to fulfill collaborative and contractual obligations to third-party stakeholders.
    • Engages with relevant internal stakeholders on Request for Proposal/Quotation (RFP/RFQ) processes for new opportunities, monitors progress and analyzes technical and commercial bids.
    • Conducts research and manages company data to support business development initiatives and knowledge management.
    • Performs other assigned duties as needed to support business development and operational objectives.

    Requirements

    • 1st degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Economics, or other related field with a minimum of second-class grade. 
    • Minimum of 10 years work experience, at least 2 of which must have been in a similar role or Financial Planning and Analysis, Management Consulting, Corporate Finance, Investment/Commercial Analysis within a reputable and structured business environment, preferably in the Power, Oil & Gas or Energy industry.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage financial models and other complex analysis in Excel and present results in an easy-to-understand format.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the Nigerian Power sector.

    Business Development Officer (Renewables)

    Job Summary

    • The Business Development Officer position at Axxela provides analytical and administrative support to the Business Development Unit. The role involves conducting analytical tasks to support project initiation, engineering, and construction services management related to business development efforts in the gas and power sectors. The Business Development Officer will also perform technical and analytical research on energy usage trends in the Nigerian market and other relevant economies, assessing natural gas and electricity demand, power costs, rates, potential revenues, margins, and profits, as well as evaluating the overall viability of individual transactions and projects.

    Scope of Responsibilities for the Role:

    • Develops a good understanding of the fundamental drivers of business value creation within the power industry/business, and within the context of Axxela Limited.
    • Conducts technical and analytical research/studies on energy usage trends in the Nigerian market and other relevant economies; prepares company, industry, competitor, and economic outlook analytical reports and briefing notes.
    • Summarizes research findings to support decision-making efforts.
    • Uses relevant data on solar (and other renewable energy forms), electricity demand, power costs, equipment costs, rates, etc., to develop basic/fundamental assumptions for financial models, including determining/capturing the required capital structures for potential transactions based on underlying business assumptions.
    • Analyzes data on potential revenues, margins, profits, etc., to draw insights into current and potential business issues and opportunities; makes appropriate recommendations for business structure, contracts, and various deals/business transactions.
    • Supports the Business Development Unit in preparing and presenting proposals/pitches and bid submissions to close new deals and prospects.
    • Delivers basic internal presentations on solar, other renewable energies, and general power business, as well as other relevant matters.
    • Conducts detailed solution design for solar power plants and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to ensure optimal proposals for potential customers.
    • Collaborates with the BDM and Project Delivery Team to develop, plan, and cost the installation and commissioning requirements and processes for solar and BESS solutions.
    • Develops specifications, evaluates vendors, and works with relevant internal teams (Procurement, etc.) to oversee the procurement of solar and BESS components to ensure cost-effective and high-quality project execution.
    • Performs technical assessments and develops comprehensive financial models that integrate project design findings to evaluate project feasibility and profitability.
    • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, including project teams, clients, and regulatory bodies, to facilitate seamless project execution and alignment with business objectives.
    • Builds and maintains business relationships with industry and government stakeholders.
    • Stays up to date with industry, market, and customer developments, such as economic changes in relevant countries, political events, regulatory changes, and customer business growth, which impact their energy requirements. These insights help estimate demand and supply forecasts for future business growth.
    • Provides adequate and effective project administration by developing action plans and work schedules to meet job objectives; interprets work briefs, provides progress reporting, and highlights constraints, opportunities, and risks. Interfaces with other functions (finance, project delivery, legal, EHSQ, technical/engineering, procurement, etc.) as needed to ensure the successful execution of projects.
    • Supports the execution of strategy and process analysis frameworks with assistance.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the BDM and/or the Head of Business Development from time to time.

    Requirements

    • 1st degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Economics or other numerate discipline. 
    • Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in relevant functional areas such as Business Development, Operations and Sales/Marketing, preferably in an International Energy Company
    • Understanding of basic finance principles, solar power economics and opportunity maturation, and demonstrated technical skills in financial analysis and modelling are critical.

    Project Engineer Officer

    Job Summary

    • The Project Engineer Officer supervises the mechanical and process engineering activities for Axxela's Gas distribution projects. This role assists in developing project scopes and cost estimates for civil, electrical, mechanical, and process work related to construction efforts and creates detailed project plans to ensure objectives are met within budget, on schedule, and according to project specifications. Each sub-team’s work plan and cost projections are integrated into the overall construction program following synchronization and necessary approvals. In addition, the Project Engineer Officer supports the additions and/or modifications to original plans and design considerations, and supervises the actual mechanical/process works, ensuring adherence to design elements and safety features. He/she will be involved in all phases of the project life cycle and will have significant involvement with engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, pre-commissioning and mechanical completion.

    Job Details

    Scope of Responsibility and Accountability:

    • Provides needed specialised mechanical/process engineering support to the Project Manager with respect to the identification of design issues, operational risk, and the resolution of attendant issues.
    • Provides input for the development of integrated mechanical/process engineering blueprints and plans for the gas & power construction models.
    • Specifies the facilities required to assure the mechanical/process integrity of gas & power system for existing and future operations and works with the Project Manager to ensure all necessary features are captured in designs and blueprints.
    • Develops and monitors mechanical/process engineering project plans and budgets.
    • Participates in periodic performance review sessions, and reports on project status as may be necessary from time to time.
    • Performs other assigned duties as delegated by the project Manager from time to time.

    Design

    • Interfaces with the Design contractor to review existing facilities and develop conceptual process/mechanical designs for new pipelines/improvements to existing facilities.
    • Coordinates project information (studies, sketches, computations) for the process/mechanical engineering and construction of gas and power facilities including equipment relocations and replacements, capacity additions, reliability and automation improvements.
    • Working within approved budget guidelines, ensures engineering designs and blueprints for the gas and power system, ancillary equipment and capture safety, cost containment needs, business growth and effective utilisation of assets, product quality and throughput goals and objectives.

    Requirements

    • 1st degree in relevant engineering discipline (Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Metallurgical & Material) with a minimum of second-class grade.
    • Professional Certification shall be an added advantage.
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a relevant function
    • Additional qualifications will be an added advantage
