    Senior Specialty Trainer - CMD / IEDD

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • The Senior Specialty Trainer– CMD/IEDD will be the Team Lead’s principal trainer and mentor for Conventional Munitions Disposal (CMD) and Improvised Explosive Device Defeat (IEDD) training and capacity building task order requirements.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum certification as International Mine Action Service (IMAS) EOD Level 3 or other internationally recognized equivalent. [EOD certification and competency standards are spelled out in IMAS 9.30.]
    • Minimum of eleven (11) years U.S. or NATO military explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) occupational specialty at the O-5 level.
    • Experience as senior trainer to a foreign security partner with directly related experience in capacity building.
    • Recent experience (EOD unit) while deployed to a combat, peacekeeping, or other contingency operation.
    • Demonstrated experience conducting EOD planning and operations in austere environments.

    Lead Trainer

    Summary / Definition

    • Lead Trainer oversees and manages all aspects of training and is responsible for the planning, monitoring, and controlling all aspects of training of the project. 

    Job functions

    • Responsible for planning the training tasks to accomplish its goals within constraints such as time, cost, and agreed quality standards
    • Required to lead the preparing and maintaining of training budgets
    • Must anticipate and catch deviations from a plan or schedule early and keep all participants informed
    • Identifies, logs, analyses, and manages potential and actual issues and risks, taking corrective action by tackling day-to-day issues head-on and reviewing how more serious issues and risks might impact on scope, schedule, quality, and cost
    • Must be courteous and polite in written and oral communication, and be able to get ideas across in a non-confrontational manner in one-to-one situations, small groups, and before large audiences
    • He must be mature in thought, judgment, and action and have the ability to interact with the US Embassy and the US Government representative on the ground, as well as positively interact with the international and local community in West Africa as required.
    • Identifies the need for resource and should subsequently take on team management responsibilities with the resource available to the project
    • Exercises good judgment in whether tasks should be broken down into smaller detail or not
    • Provides his/her team with direction and vision, including motivating them to perform, listening to people, providing feedback, recognizing strengths, and providing challenges
    • Responsible for the training tasks commitment to quality
    • May need to generate many types of documents, including requirement specifications project reports, communication (email) records, meeting agendas, minutes and status reports with demanding deadlines.
    • Responsible for coordinating the implementation of PAE SOPS policies and Procedures.
    • Must be Able to operate independently in remote, hash and austere environment for protracted periods as required.

    Educational and Experience

    • The candidate must have a Bachelors Degree or similar qualification
    • The candidate must have prior experience working in Africa.
    • The candidate must have prior experience in developing training curriculums.
    • Candidate must have prior experience in training militaries.
    • Candidate must have excellent supervisory, organizational, and training skills, skill in project development and execution, skill in coordinating activities, evaluating data, and establishing priorities
    • Excellent communication in both written and verbal English is necessary and must be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power point) and preferably MS Project.
    • Candidate must be able to analyze problems and make well-reasoned, sound decisions
    • Candidate must be highly capable of interacting confidently with senior management and customers

    Desired Qualifications

    • French linguist preferred.
    • Mater's Degree.
