    Education Officer

    Summary of the Role

    • The Education officer is tasked with ensuring that the education component of the project is implemented by ensuring that beneficiaries are able to receive quality education and other social services. The Education officer is responsible for the daily technical planning, implementation, supervision, monitoring, and reporting of education activities and for ensuring proper coordination with stakeholders.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide technical support in the areas of education in emergencies to teachers, facilitators, volunteers and community members engaged in the project.
    • Closely collaborate with all the concerned stakeholders to ensure that programme goals are achieved and sustained.
    • Actively participate in education-related activities and meetings, and seek active collaboration with other partners working in the education sector
    • Adhere to the work plan and ensure the activities are fully implemented as per the national/international and North-east Nigeria Education Sector guidelines.
    • Ensure close supervision and support of field-based education activities
    • Support in establishment of CPIE component within the Education activities
    • Support set up of clear referral pathways between Education and CP teams in close collaboration with CVTs and Case Workers.
    • Identify and communicate project gaps, challenges and vulnerabilities to the line manager on a timely basis and suggest possible solutions to the problems.
    • Actively participate in set up of clear monitoring and evaluation plan (including development and implantation of tools)
    • Carry out any other duties that the organization through its duly authorized officers, Coordinators and Managers shall direct from time to time

    Job Requirements

    • B.Sc. in Education and other education related field
    • Ability to work within a team
    • TRCN Registered candidates are strongly encouraged to apply
    • Experience in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
    • Team player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure well.

    Child Protection Officer

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Facilitate and coordinate provision of professional counselling services for children with protection concerns by conducting play and art therapy, individual and group sessions and work with caregivers to address children concerns
    • Conducting relevant training to programme staffs, community structures and staffs from partner agencies.
    • Develop detailed MHPSS implementation plans; monitor performance against work plan deadlines, ensure accurate data collection on performance indicators.
    • Support in the development of capacity enhancement sessions for the community volunteer teachers and case workers to ensure programming meets quality standards.
    • Plan, organize and implement quality community sensitization forums in partnership with the community workers.
    • Represent ROHI in interagency meetings and also playing the role of the child protection focal point person.
    • Partnerships and coordination
    • Develop partnerships with child protection and education committees to enhance community participation, ownership and sustainability of programmes by orienting them on the project goals and to solicit their involvement in the implementation of the project
    • Collaborate and coordinate with other aid agencies, governmental institutions and community level structures in order to promote community ownership and sustainability of the project initiatives.
    • Represent ROHI in interagency working groups and coordination meetings

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Good communication skills with fluency in written and spoken English
    • Graduate degree in Guidance and counselling, Psychology or any related course with 3 years’ experience working with children is desirable
    • Past experience implementing child protection programmes at officer level and knowledge of community-based child protection approaches, preferably including experience in participatory approaches (PRA/PLA) and child participation methodologies is desirable.
    • Ability to use a wide range of child counselling methodologies
    • Demonstrable ability to adapt to changing programme priorities and emergency priorities that may arise
    • Strong self-starter, able to take initiative and adapt to changing circumstances and priorities
    • Positive attitude towards community work with emphasis on the ability to learn from communities and support innovative approaches to problem solving

    Livelihood Officer

    Summary of the Role

    • The livelihood officer is tasked with ensuring that the livelihood component of the project is implemented by ensuring that beneficiaries are able to start-up businesses and sustain means of livelihood established as a result of the organization’s support. The livelihood officer is responsible for the daily technical planning, implementation, supervision, monitoring, and reporting of livelihood activities and for ensuring proper coordination with stakeholders. Responsibilities:
    • Plan for the implementation of Education and livelihood project activities and monitoring in line with project design.
    • Setting up alternative care arrangements by improving the livelihood capacity of vulnerable beneficiaries.
    • Collaborate with the Protection and Education officers to conduct well-being assessments for beneficiaries at different locations.  
    • Train beneficiaries on the Family Business Scheme (FBS) and disburse grants.
    • Conduct regular and periodic monitoring of businesses supported through the FBS.
    • Support beneficiaries in setting up and maintaining businesses supported through the FBS.
    • Supervises the livelihood caseworkers towards project deliverables.
    • Write and submit weekly activity reports.
    • Any other responsibility as instructed by the line manager.

    Job Requirements

    • B.Sc. in Business management or another related field
    • Ability to work within a team
    • Experience in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
    • Team player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure well.
