    Finance Officer

    Job Purpose

    • The post holder will ensure maintenance of adequate financial integrity in supporting quality and timely data input for generation of financial reports, review and analyze accounting ledgers.
    • S/he will also contribute to strengthening the internal control and accounting systems of ActionAid Nigeria and partner organizations.

    Specific Responsibilities

    • Assist in the preparation of financial reports as required by the project
    • Attend to project specific internal/external audit
    • Work with the Head of Finance on the financial planning processes of the long term (three-year planning) and short term (annual budgeting) plans that feed into the National Plans.
    • Work with other members of the project team in planning and forecasting
    • Follow through ActionAid Nigeria’s communication procedures with donor and implementing partners
    • Strictly adhere to AA Nigeria policies and procedures and observance with agreement or donor Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
    • Support Implementing partners organisations’ grant management process
    • Provide organizational development support to Implementing partner organisations
    • Support capacity assessment, financial and accounting processes review, and prepare reports on partner organizations as may be assigned by the Head of Finance
    • Provide financial support to fundraising and proposal writing for the organisation
    • Monitor and review staff advances, retirements, and post hold journals
    • Responsible for reconciliation of projects, bank accounts and other assigned ledgers
    • Any other duties as assigned by line manager and Management.

    • External: AAN Partners, donors and other stakeholders.

    Persons Specifications

    Education/ Qualifications
    Essential:

    • First Degree in Accounting / Finance

    Desirable:

    • Relevant accounting professional certification

    Experience
    Essential:

    • At least three (3) years post NYSC experience, which should have been spent in a finance position.
    • Experience in implementing financial control systems
    • Sound practical knowledge of any accounting software and Spreadsheets

    Desirable:

    • Development sector experience as a finance person.

    Skill Abilities

    • Accuracy and attention to details
    • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills

    • Ability to work well with minimal supervision

    HR / Admin Consultant - WFP

    Overall Purpose

    • The HR/Admin Consultant will be responsible for managing physical and electronic personnel reference documents (by maintaining documentation, filing systems and contact data base), contractual agreement while supporting recruitments and the performance management process; as well as coordinate the front desk, office facility, hotels and other relevant service providers.

    Specific Responsibilities

    • Provide support to the HROE Manager on the performance management systems.
    • Manage contractual agreements and renewals
    • Manage the development and implementation of the staff development plans for each year
    • Support trainings and workshops
    • Support recruitment process from advertisements to resumption of new staff on the WFP project and as delegated
    • Coordinate induction of new staff
    • Maintain and update all employee records in personnel files (both electronic & hard copies)
    • Manage the coordination of leave schedules, travel authorisations and Time Off in Lieu (TOIL)  
    • Support the coordination of the HROE unit reporting process in compliance with all reporting frameworks within and outside the affiliate
    • Serve as contact person on staff insurance, medical and pension matters for staff
    • Provide HR support for WFP project team
    • Coordinate the front desk, office facility, hotels and other relevant service providers.
    • All other responsibilities assigned by Line Manager and HROE Manager

    Education / Qualifications
    Essential:

    • First Degree in Social Sciences or Arts / Humanities

    • Handling all logistics issues associated with HR
    • Office administration experience
    • Excellent working knowledge of Excel, Word & Outlook (MS Office in general)

    Desirable:

    • Experience in working with international development of NGO agencies.

    Programme Advisor, Protection

    Job Purpose

    • The post holder will support the Project Coordinator in working with other programme staffs and beneficiaries on the implementation of community protection, community cohesion including accountability to affected population interventions in two project locations of Bade - Yobe and Shani - Borno.  The role involves occasional travel to project locations

    Specific Responsibilities

    • Ensure timely implementation of project activities at the field level, including appropriate documentation and management of protection cases (recorded incidents), protection concern and case management forms, IPA, and activity reports
    • Follow up on Identified protection risk, through protection monitoring, PSS and case management by ensuring appropriates responses
    • In collaboration with the Project Coordinator, provide technical support, supervision and guidance to the protection team
    • Ensure that staff adhere to best-practices, professional standards and principles, and relevant SOPs and guidelines through capacity-building and on-the-job coaching
    • Develop comprehensive and tailored capacity building plans for protection staff and implementing partners based on respective needs and ensuring quality services
    • Hold monthly meetings with the protection team and with the officers individually to share updates, discuss challenges and successes, provide constructive feedback and discuss opportunities for improvement
    • Monitor the efficient and accurate update of all relevant protection data, including referral data. Regularly compile relevant program data and make note of trends observed
    • Develop and maintain effective working relationship with relevant stakeholders including partner agencies, implementing partners, community leaders and service providers
    • Work closely with AAN local community structures and provide the needed field level support, including capacity-building and trainings
    • Remain abreast of SOPs and best practices at the field, on the national and global level
    • Identify technical gaps in the program and identify/implement solutions to address these gaps
    • Support the participation and reporting to various Humanitarian Sectors as appropriate.
    • Work with field teams to collect information on potential case studies and success stories
    • Other duties as directed by line manager.

    Security Assistant - WFP

    Overall Purpose

    • The post holder will work with the Security Officer to ensure safety of staff and program property.
    • S/he will support relevant security training and safety protocols that promotes safety of staff and program property.

    Specific Responsibilities

    • Support in Identifying possible security threats and determining the best security measures for safety of staff and assets in WFP implementing location - Shani.
    • Work with the Security Officer to design, implement, and maintain security protocols, policies, plans, and systems to cover all possible security threats.
    • Support in facilitating training and induction for staff to discuss security measures and provide information
    • Support in running risk assessment and security tests and designing countermeasures to eliminate as many potential risks as possible
    • Compiling and presenting reports as required on location
