    Field Support Technician

    Job Summary:

    • This role is responsible for carrying out planned and contingency operations and maintenance (O&M) services in accordance with approved procedures and safety standards.

    Responsibilities:

    • Identifies the root-cause of customer issue and advices on the best cause of action to resolve the issue.
    • Identifies the resources needed to solve the issue and estimates the effort required.
    • Collaborates with other internal functions to ensure availability of resources required to resolve the issue and keep the customer up to date on intervention efforts and relevant timelines.
    • Implements technical solution at customer site while ensuring quality work and customer-satisfaction.
    • Implements technical solution at Point of Presence sites in compliance with approved policies, procedures and work standards.
    • Implements disaster recovery plan as and when needed.
    • Implements proactive maintenance and sets up system monitoring, to reduce equipment failure and incident response time.
    • Maintains engineering equipment.
    • Diagnoses network and device problems and implements technical or procedural solutions.
    • Performs Quality Control on structured cabling and related projects on all sites and other ipNX Facility.
    • Performs inventory of equipment and consumables required on all sites, ensuring availability and repair / return of same.
    • Maintains accurate records of the condition of systems, equipment in all buildings, and inspections.
    • Prepares regular reports on all POPs conditions, inspections and work orders as may be necessary.

    Qualifications/Experience:

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technical discipline.
    • 3 years’ relevant experience in the IT/Telecommunications field.

    Telecom Rigger

    Job Summary

    • The Telecommunications Rigger is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of equipment on telecommunications towers, rooftops, and other elevated structures. This role ensures that antenna systems, feeders, mounts, and associated hardware are safely and securely installed to meet industry standards and project specifications. The Rigger works closely with tower technicians, RF engineers, and project managers to support network deployments and upgrades, including 4G/5G infrastructure.

    Responsibilities

    • Climb telecommunications towers, monopoles, rooftops, and other elevated structures to install and maintain equipment.
    • Install antennas, remote radio units (RRUs), microwave dishes, mounts, brackets, and feeder cables.
    • Perform rigging operations including lifting, positioning, and securing equipment using hoists and rigging gear.
    • Conduct tower inspections and identify structural or safety concerns.
    • Replace or repair faulty equipment, mounts, and cabling as required.
    • Ensure proper grounding, weatherproofing, and cable management practices.
    • Follow approved rigging plans, lift plans, and safety procedures at all times.
    • Complete site documentation, including installation reports and safety checklists.
    • Maintain tools, personal protective equipment (PPE), and rigging gear in safe working condition.
    • Comply with all company, client, and regulatory safety standards.

    Qualifications/Experience

    • SSCE and above required.
    • Previous experience in telecommunications tower rigging or related field preferred.
    • Experience working at heights and in outdoor environments.

    OSP Maintenance Engineer

    Job Summary

    • The Outside Plant (OSP) Engineer oversees maintenance of ipNX fiber optic & civil work activities on the outside plant network.
    • The OSP Supervisor will be involved in the day -to- day maintenance and management of the outside plant, taking into consideration customer and Local authority organizations in the maintenance of the fiber outside plant.
    • The role is expected to involve a significant element of on -site attendance. 

    Responsibilities

    • Corporate Customers: Restore service failures within 3hours of its occurrence Implementation and integration of new projects and ensure all open incident tickets are closed within this timeframe.
    • Retail Customers: Restore service failures within 12 hours of its occurrence.
    • Incident Management Communication: Provide prompt feedback for input into the OTRS application with information relating to activities being carried out to resolve customer service incidents.
    • Proactively identify, plan and execute preventive maintenance action on the fibre network.
    • Audit and collate information for the fiber outside plant network. Prepare the as maintained documents within region/sub-region managed for the O &M Unit.
    • Ensure weekly support status reports are done and submitted timely for review
    • Activate FOS Customer requests within 3 days of sign up.Sign-off the Customer Feedback Form, prepare and submit post-activation report.

    Qualifications/Experience:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Telecoms, Engineering or Applied Sciences.
    • At least 2 years in telecommunications industry, with experience in Fiber network deployments. and outside plant maintenance.
    • Experience in civil works supervision & quality control.
    • Experience in processing ROW License with Local Authorities/State Regulatory Agencies.
    • User experience for Microsoft Office Tools including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Project.
    • User experience for Visio / AutoCAD / GIS tools is desired.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Ability to solve complex problems in the shortest available time using honed analytical skills.
    • Good interpersonal skills with customers, vendors, team members and local community
    • Proven track records of maintenance and management of metro and/or long-distance fibre optic infrastructure.
    • Sound knowledge of telecom industry best practices, norms and technical requirements with regard to fibre & civil work maintenance.
    • FTTx and/or P2P fibre deployment and maintenance experience are distinct advantages i.e. fibre termination using fusion splice machines, testing & analyzing fibre links with OTDR and Light Source/Power Meters (LSPM), identifying fibre cores with VFLs.
    • Capable of understanding fibre network architectures, designs & splice plans.
    • An inherent culture of documenting concise and accurate “As-Is” status of network elements and splice configuration, in a consistent manner.
    • Familiarity with the requirements of Health & Safety legislation in Nigeria.
