    Field Officers (Entry-Level) - Niger State

    The Field Officers will support the New Incentives program that utilizes cash transfers to encourage mothers to complete the immunization schedule of their infants. The program is operated in cooperation with the State Primary Healthcare Development Board in Niger State. The primary duty in the role will be enrolling beneficiaries at public clinics.

    Field Officers are hired full-time and work at clinics throughout Niger State and must already be based/reside in one of the following LGA / Towns:

    • Chanchaga
    • Edati
    • Gbako
    • Gurara
    • Katcha
    • Kontagora
    • Lapai
    • Lavun
    • Magama

    Key Duties:

    • Enrolling beneficiaries at remote public clinics
    • Monitor immunization services at your clinic
    • Interact with clinic staff and beneficiaries
    • Conduct high-quality rapid assessment
    • Assist with other duties related to the program

    Please note that this is a hands-on job for hard-working, dedicated young candidates.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Fluency in local languages/dialects spoken in Niger, especially Hausa. Please state the names of the languages/dialects you can speak and your fluency level for each language in your cover letter.
    • Nigerian national already based in Niger State
    • Minimum of SSCE, but diploma in the field of health or other natural sciences would be an advantage
    • Willingness to work at remote public clinics a few days per week and take public transport to reach them
    • Experience with the Nigerian health system and clinic documentation, particularly related to infant health and vaccinations
    • Experience in collecting, synthesizing, and drawing conclusions from (health) data is desirable
    • Careful attention to financial matters and management of funds
    • Detail-oriented, diligent professional
    • Passion to help others and reduce infant mortality
    • Very good communications and writing skills, English, Hausa, and dialects (verbal and written)
    • Excellent responsiveness to email and phone requests
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word/Excel, internet browsers, smartphones, and new communications technology in general
    • Hard-working, result-oriented and loyal
    • Motivation to work in a young organization that is constantly changing based on stakeholder feedback and operates with a lean structure

    Communications Officer

    Position

    • The perfect candidate is a self-starter with exceptional writing, editing, photography/video, and digital skills, as well as excellent communication skills.
    • Success in this role will require an individual who is based in northern Nigeria and willing to travel frequently, has a passion for the mission, a high level of flexibility, strong organizational skills, as well as excitement to contribute new ideas in a dynamic, start-up environment.

    Responsibilities
    Communications Support:

    • Contribute to and help execute New Incentives’ global communications strategy and messaging, including cultivating New Incentives’ voice through its website, blog, social media platforms, published articles, and other communications avenues.
    • Help pitch and develop story ideas that align with key messages for donor and stakeholder audiences.
    • Properly plan and execute a field visit, gathering the planned content.
    • Be able to draft blog posts and video scripts for the stories they gather.
    • Conduct media streaming for state and LGA events
    • Produce photo and video assets, ensuring all photo protocols and policies are strictly followed and recorded.
    • Assist in working with media contacts in Nigeria to expand accurate, quality news coverage New Incentives work.
    • Assist in developing/proposing social media content to engage audiences both in and outside of Nigeria and build followings.
    • Interview caregivers, staff members, clinic staff, community leaders, and stakeholders with necessary Hausa to English translations
    • Assist the Communications Associate in developing and conducting training and workshops for other unit members.

    Stakeholder Relations and Dissemination:

    • Support communications with media when needed (including in case of an incident).
    • Support operations in increasing caregivers' awareness of the program (e.g., producing radio jingles).

    Qualifications and Skills

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, International Development, Public Health, Public Policy, or other relevant field required
    • At least one year of relevant work experience
    • A strong passion for and commitment to the organization’s mission, goals, and accomplishments
    • Exceptional written and oral English communication skills, including writing and editing skills
    • Basic photography, photo editing, and video editing skills
    • Fluency in Hausa/local languages
    • Demonstrated strong social media skills (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn)
    • Strong interviewing skills and the ability to comfortably engage with a wide variety of people
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with supervisor, co-workers, and other staff and freelancers.
