    Electrician III

    Duties

    • Carry out electrical installation, wiring, and maintenance works in both industrial and domestic settings.
    • Maintain and repair electrical fixtures and appliances, including light switches, socket outlets, ceiling and standing fans, lighting fittings, water heaters, electric irons, and wardrobe heaters.
    • Undertake repairs and maintenance of streetlights and security lighting systems.
    • Install and maintain feeder pillars and busbars.
    • Perform electrical maintenance on campus equipment such as electric pepper milling machines, mixers, and electric motors.
    • Provide support to the Electrical Supervisor in the workshop to ensure the smooth execution of activities.
    • Perform other job-related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

    Qualifications

    • OND qualification in Electrical Engineering or related courses with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience or O’ Level, Technical Certificate, Trade Test with minimum of seven (7) years’ experience performing a similar role in a well structured environment. 

    Competencies
    The ideal candidate must:

    • Have technical knowledge and basic ICT skills.
    • Have good equipment maintenance skills.
    • Have strong interpersonal skills.

    Power House Operator III

    Duties

    • Ensure the smooth daily operation of all powerhouse equipment.
    • Oversee the routine maintenance of all electrical systems within the powerhouse, including panels and switches.
    • Operate and maintain all mechanical and electrical equipment in the powerhouse, including generators, high-voltage panels, Ring Main Units (RMUs), tripping units, underground high-voltage cables, and both high- and low-voltage circuit breakers.
    • Receive and manage Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) supplies for the operation of equipment.
    • Support powerhouse mechanics in carrying out repairs and maintenance on all mechanical equipment under the powerhouse unit.
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

    Requirements
    Qualifications:

    Senior Plant Operator

    Duties

    • Operate the central air – conditioner chiller on a rotational night/day shift.
    • Carry out maintenance, daily checks, and urgent repairs of the large condenser and chiller pumps, servicing and repair of cooling towers.
    • Conduct routine inspection and maintenance of the walk – in air – handling units in all buildings.
    • Perform periodic maintenance work on the insulation of central air conditioning chillers and pipeline.
    • Perform periodic cleaning of central air conditioning chillers with a chemical.
    • Assist in the installation of air conditioners as needed and maintenance of cold stores, refrigerators, water coolers, etc.
    • Keep a record of data on the daily operation of central air conditioning chillers.
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

    Qualifications

    • OND in Mechanical Engineering or related courses with minimum of five (5) years’ experience or O’ Level, Technical Certificate, Trade Test with minimum of eight (8) years’ experience performing a similar role in a well structured environment.  

    Competencies
    The ideal candidate must:

    • Have good knowledge on central air conditioning
    • Have operational knowledge.
    • Have good maintenance skills.

    Power House Superintendent

    Duties

    • Supervise the overall maintenance of the powerhouse by carrying out routine activities to ensure a stable, efficient, and uninterrupted power supply to the institute.
    • Lead and oversee the activities of electrical and mechanical subordinates within the powerhouse to achieve operational objectives.
    • Coordinate the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of new equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, RMUs, and generators.
    • Oversee the maintenance of all twenty-two (22) distribution transformer substations (industrial and domestic), including associated RMUs.
    • Ensure the maintenance of approximately 14 kilometres of 11kV underground high-tension cables.
    • Supervise the maintenance of approximately 3 kilometres of the institute’s 33kV overhead dedicated line.
    • Manage the full operation of generators (3 × 1500kVA and 2000kVA units), as well as 11kV and 33kV panels and step-up transformers.
    • Oversee tripping units, battery banks, and associated protection systems.
    • Ensure the maintenance of the 5000kVA (5MVA) power transformer.
    • Maintain accurate records of all powerhouse activities.
    • Review and validate IBEDC bills prior to submission for payment approval and oversee the receipt of AGO for generator operations.
    • Provide technical guidance and enforce safety practices among subordinates in line with powerhouse operations.
    • Coordinate the activities of contractors and external service providers.
    • Prepare and manage powerhouse staff duty and leave rosters.
    • Liaise with PHCN staff on the maintenance of the institute’s dedicated power line.
    • Report directly to the Powerhouse Manager and assume operational responsibility in their absence.
    • Perform other job-related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

    Qualifications

    • BSc / HND qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering or related courses with minimum of eight (8) years’ performing a similar role in a well structured environment.

    Competencies
    The ideal candidate must:

    • Have good communication skill (written, oral).
    • Have strong interpersonal and supervisory skills.
    • Have good ICT skills.
    • Have strong leadership and presentation skills.
    • Be able to work during weekends and public holidays.
    • Have technical problem solving skills.
