Job Overview / Summary
- The EH Officer-Hygiene Promotion will be responsible for day to day management of EH Hygiene Promotion activities and staff involved in direct implementation of IRC’s EH Emergency Response Project Strategy.
- S/he is overall responsible for ensuring that approved technical approaches to hygiene promotion are adhered to, maintaining program quality and that all hygiene objectives are met on time and within the budget. When requested, s/he will undertake capacity building of team members.
Major Responsibilities
Program Management, Technical Quality, and Strategy:
- Ensure that all hygiene promotion activities are in line with project strategy and design
- Maintain close links and collaboration with other sectors and in particular Health, Nutrition, Protection, Gender, CYPD (Child and Youth Protection and Development), Women Protection and Empowerment (WPE) and Economic Recovery and Development (ERD).
- Ensure that the hygiene promotion activities are implemented in a timely and professional manner (as per SPHERE and IRC standards) and in line with beneficiary needs.
- If requested, participate in any inter sectorial assessment process, including analysis and planning
- Directly manage the day-to-day hygiene promotion activities in the field
- Ensure that hygiene promotion activities meet stated objectives within the timeframe
- Ensure program activities foster accountability to beneficiaries, gender and protection sensitivity and inclusion are adequately addressed in programming
- Propose technical designs and methodologies for all hygiene promotion hygiene activities
- Provide technical support and training for hygiene promoters and community volunteers.
- Provide regular reports, document results and maintain detailed records.
Program Development and Monitoring:
- Responsible for ensuring that monitoring and data collection of all hygiene promotion indicators are in line with the approved monitoring framework, using all the correct monitoring tools and at the frequency prescribed
- If requested, participate in monitoring data analysis
- Consistently and proactively monitor/assess the safety and security of the team; promptly reporting concerns or incidents to the EH Coordinator, and when liaising with community leaders and other external parties as required to maintain/enhance the security environment for IRC programs
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop IRC programs
- Ensure water sanitation and hygiene promotional activities are facilitated in accordance with IRC logistics policy and in a timely manner to ensure the successful implementation of programs.
- Ensure all relevant financial documentation is completed accurately as required by IRC finance policy.
- Prepare and submit required reports in a timely manner and incorporate manager feedback.
Coordination & Representation:
- Work closely and coordinate with IRC logistics, finance and grant staff to ensure timely and complaint program activities and expenditures; including active participation in grant opening/closing and review meetings.
- Undertake/participate in liaison, coordination, and information sharing activities with national NGOs, international organizations, donors and government at field level.
Job Requirements
- B. Sc. / High National Diploma in Environmental Sciences, Social Work, Nursing, Public Health
- Up to 3 years’ experience in hygiene promotion programs, WASH Cash and Voucher Assistance programming with INGOs
- Excellent understanding of EH issues in emergency situations and knowledge of emergency standards (Sphere)

- The VAWG Psychological First Aid Assistant will provide frontline psychosocial support through Psychological Firs Aid to women and girls affected by distress, crisis, or violence.
- The role will prioritize early identification of needs and strong linkage to health services, including primary healthcare centers, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services, nutrition services, and WASH-related health services.
- The Assistant will also lead structured psychosocial support activities at Comprehensive Women Centers (CWCs), ensuring that all interventions promote well-being and facilitate access to integrated health services.
Major Responsibilities
Psychological First Aid and Health-Linked Psychosocial Support:
- Provide Psychological First Aid to women and girls in distress, ensuring safe, confidential, and respectful support.

- Deliver basic psychosocial support sessions that promote emotional well-being and encourage positive health-seeking behavior.

Referrals and Linkages to Health Services:

Basic GBV Support with Health Integration:
- Provide basic survivor-centered support to GBV survivors and ensure safe and confidential referral to health facilities for clinical management.
- Share information on available GBV and health services, including where and how to seek help.
- Ensure all interactions uphold confidentiality, safety, respect, and non-discrimination.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of PFA support, referrals, and activities.

Education

Job Overview / Summary
- Based in Gubio or Ngala and under the direct supervision of the Project Lead/Field Coordinator, the Health and Nutrition Manager will provide leadership and supportive oversight for the implementation of OCHA Reserve Allocation 2026 for integrated primary health and nutrition care services in the respective LGAs. S/he will ensure quality implementation, monitoring, and reporting, of the project while ensuring full donor compliance.
- This includes building the capacity of clinicians and CMAM providers, both at integrated outreach clinics and outpatient therapeutic centers, sustaining RUTF pipeline to ensure the provision of quality healthcare at supported health facilities.
- The Health and Nutrition Manager will also be responsible for community entry, stakeholder engagement, and coordination with relevant actors to align efforts with project goals for successful outcomes.
- Technically guided by and in coordination with the IRC Health and Nutrition Technical Coordinator, they will serve as the IRC focal point for the project.
Major Responsibilities
Program Management, Technical Quality, and Strategy:
- Lead the implementation of IRC’s Health and Nutrition program in Gubio and/or Ngala LGAs, ensuring activities are delivered on time and meet IRC, Ministry of Health, and international humanitarian standards.
- Supervise health and nutrition teams, including medical staff and community teams, to ensure quality service delivery in supported facilities and communities.
- Work with program officers and facility teams to develop clear work plans, set targets, and track progress against project indicators.
- Provide regular technical support, mentoring, and on-the-job training to strengthen staff capacity and improve program quality.
- Support integrated service delivery including primary healthcare, nutrition screening and treatment, maternal and child health, and community outreach activities.
