The Credit Officer is responsible for evaluating loan applications, assessing the creditworthiness of clients, monitoring repayment activities, and ensuring compliance with the organization’s credit policies.
The role involves maintaining a healthy loan portfolio, minimizing risk, and supporting clients with financial guidance.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate loan applications and analyze applicants’ financial status, credit data, and repayment ability.
Conduct risk assessment and recommend loan approvals or rejections based on established criteria.
Monitor and follow up on loan repayments to minimize default rates.
Maintain accurate records of credit applications, approvals, disbursements, and repayments.
Conduct field visits to verify client information and assess collateral.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
Proven experience in credit analysis, loan processing, or banking.
Strong analytical, decision-making, and risk assessment skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with loan management software is an advantage.
