    Role Purpose

    • Within the CP Department, the candidate will provide statistical analysis and other information to support management decision making within Child Protection Programmes in Yobe state.

    Key Areas of Accountability
    Information Management - Child Protection Program

    Child Protection:

    • To ensure that forms collected are well completed, conducting spot checks and supporting case workers in the camp offices to address issues on the forms as they arise, ahead of verification/signing by CPO.
    • To accurately enter data captured in the CPIMS forms into the IA CPIMS database, and provide data and information in response to requests from internal and external parties on a timely manner.
    • To develop and maintain appropriate hard and soft filing for all open and closed cases and ensure the database is backed-up on a weekly basis.
    • Support the CP team by generating a list of cases due for follow up on a weekly basis, and monitor this against the number of cases followed up on a monthly basis.
    • To provide statistics, information and reports to show progress and trends, and in liaison with the CM officers and Specialist present a monthly analysis to Child protection staff.
    • To conduct regular data quality checks to ensure information collected as part of documentation and monitoring is accurate, reliable, complete, precise, timely and has high integrity.
    • Provide feedback to the CPO’s on the case management process in the camp and build the capacity of case workers to complete forms accurately through one-to-one and group mentoring and review sessions
    • To maintain confidentiality, privacy in the management of case files and observe data protection and confidentiality protocols while handling both the paper based and electronic data at all stages of data management. This includes and is not limited to the informed consent or use of data and privacy, but to all information sharing in the CPIMS.
    • To handle and respond to programmatic data request from Child Protection project team aptly on case management.

    Accountability functions:

    • Actively seek complaints and provide feedback through engagement with the Community workers and beneficiaries at camp level – including through informal and focus group discussions and exit interviews
    • Maintain an updated complaints and feedback database at camp level, including tracking progress on actions from the complaints received and actions identified to mitigate the identified issues.

    Cross-cutting functions

    • Participate in assessments, surveys and evaluations to gather, analyse and produce reports on data to demonstrate programme impact
    • Identify and highlight cases suitable for documentation of significant change and impact demonstration related to Save the Children’s programmes in camps and host communities
    • Develop simple and effective methods to share information/data in an appropriate way (eg. internet, e-mail groups, phone, hard copies, verbal feedback at coordination meetings, etc.)

    Other:

    • To carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the overall function of Case management as and when requested by the CM specialist.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree in Information Management / Social Sciences or its equivalent in Information Management with a minimum of three (3) years’ work experience in child protection sector and especially in the North East Context.
    • Knowledge of child protection in emergencies, CP sector trends, child rights and protection issues
    • Strong self-starter, able to take initiative and adapt to changing circumstances and priorities
    • Positive attitude towards community work with emphasis on the ability to learn from communities and support participatory, innovative approaches to problem solving
    • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to be respectful, kind, sensitive and empathise with all children and their carers
    • Fluent in written and spoken English, and the local language in the camps and the host community
    • Good report writing skills
    • Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions

    Desirable Qualifications

    • Previous experience in working with IA CPIMS and GBVIMS is an added advantage.

    • Experience of working with refugee and host communities in a humanitarian context and other agencies that support Child Protection.

    Child Protection in Emergencies Assistant - BHA

    Role Purpose

    • The Child Protection Assistant is responsible for implementing community-based child protection program in Yobe with frequent travel to the field sites.
    • He/she will be responsible for prevention and response activities of the child protection program that include working with the community, psychosocial support activities and case management.

    • The CP and GBV Response Officer is responsible for ensuring that quality psychosocial support services and case management for GBV survivors and other children at risk are provided to internally displaced persons under the age of 18.
    • Build the staff capacity to provide direct meaningful support to GBV survivors, mentor, supervise and monitor team activities and ensure effective coordination and networking system establishment to the rest of child protection team.
    • The Gender Based Violence Response Officer will be expected to support on child protection sectoral assessment, project planning and coordination with other actors of GBV clusters.
    • In most circumstances, the post holder will be expected to mentor and/or build capacity of implementing partners on the field.

    Scope of Role

    Key Areas of Accountabilities

    • Support the Case Management Coordinator to conduct child protection and GBV assessments using SC assessment processes and tools and the Inter-agency Child Protection Assessment Resource Toolkit. Adapt the Assessment Tool as necessary to GBV survivors. Coordinate with other SC thematic areas, the national/district Child Protection Working Group and/or other external sector agencies of GBV, ensuring assessment findings are documented and that all assessments include a specific, disaggregated data analysis of survivors’ needs.
    • With support from the lead Case Management Coordinator and/or other senior programme staff, develop monthly and quarterly plans and costed plans, contributing towards an overall thematic programme plan. From the strategy initiate programming in the following areas as appropriate:
    • Support to the psychosocial (physical, social, emotional) wellbeing of children with GBV victims and their families.
    • Build the staff capacity to provide direct and appropriate support services to GBV survivors
    • Take lead in Prevention and response to sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) and gender-based violence (GBV) in project communities
    • Mentor, supervise and monitor of gender based violence implementation and draft monitoring action plan for quality control.
    • Prevention and response to all forms of exploitation including harmful child labour and child trafficking
    • Support the integration of GBV cases into other CP case managements process,  CPIMS,CFS and PSS
    • Oversee and coordinate the development and maintenance of data collection and analysis mechanisms and share timely quality information the relevant sector management.   
    • Support the integration of child protection sector in to other SC emergencies core sectors on the field

    Role Purpose

    Child Safeguarding

    Role

    • This role will manage overall case management program in Yobe State within the Save the Children country program.
    • The post-holder will be Save the Children’s focal point for Case Management/FTR and will support the coordination of FTR, Alternative Care and Case Management activities within Yobe state.
    • Case Management Specialist will have overall responsibility for case management project activities including supporting the coordination of effective and efficient planning, implementation and monitoring of the project at field level.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Lead and coordinate the Case management task force and liaise with stakeholders to ensure that Save the Children fulfils its commitments in terms of FTR and Case Management (coordination, leadership, capacity building)
    • Work with the Country Office, UNICEF, partners and other relevant technical and field staff on the roll out of strong national and programmatic Case management including of Unaccompanied and Separated Children
    • Along with the CPIMS team prepare and disseminate relevant Child Protection and FTR reports and data at state, national level and analyse weekly data/statistics and highlight trends, outstanding actions and concerns (such as non-compliance to procedures, incorrect data, etc.)
    • Responsible for ensuring that FTR and CM technical capacity is developed across all locations, with a commitment to innovation and efficient programming
    • Where needed lead or assist on multi sectoral/ sectoral assessment, program design, and support fundraising, and recruitment
    • Coordinate with MEAL/CPIMS team to develop strong FTR/CM monitoring systems and indicators and ensure that they are tracked periodically

    Objective 1 - Take the lead on the rehabilitation/construction of water and sanitation facilities at FSL sites:

    •  Build the capacity of partners and SCI staffs on hygiene promotion
    • Ensure that community mobilisation approaches on the project fully integrate hygiene promotion concepts.
    • Engage community leaders and other key stakeholders at LGA level on hygiene promotion.
    • Liaise with RUWASSA and the LGA WASH departments on WASH programming and ensure that all activities are done with their active participation and support
    •  Provide support on WASH to other SCI programmes and initiatives when required

      • The mainstreaming of inter-agency guidelines (e.g. IASC MHPSS guidelines) and standards (e.g. CPMS) across the different sectors of programme activities delivered by SC and its partners
      • The use of structured and manualised MHPSS techniques
      • The participation of parents and caregivers in MHPSS activities
    • Support structured MHPSS activities for groups of boys and girls of different age groups, with particular attention to survivors of SGBV, unaccompanied children and other children who present with signs of poor mental health and distress
    • Identify MHPSS service providers and agree referral pathways for children with severe mental disorders
