    Land Acquisition Executive

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Provide professional advisory to the business on all land and land community-related matters. The Land Acquisition executive assesses areas of land and determines the potential for land development. With a strong background in urban & town planning, real estate, geography, and land socioeconomic dynamics of the terrain, the incumbent would use the combination of specialized skill sets to aid the company in making the best decisions both in the acquisition and protection of all land-related assets.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide technical leadership, foresight and management-level land-acquisition advice to meet
    • business requirements & guide strategic and operational decision-making by Management.
    • Negotiating prices with the community, government amongst other stakeholders to achieve the
    • best value for the business while still maintaining fairness & profitability goals.
    • Coordinating with lawyers, appraisers, contractors, and other specialists to complete land
    • acquisition deals.
    • Categorizing and appraising land parcels to assess value, as well as researching zoning laws and
    • potential development projects to determine if a parcel is suitable for purchase
    • Developing budgets and financial forecasts for prospective land purchases or sales
    • Reviewing legal documents with legal team support to ensure all requirements are met prior to
    • closing on a purchase.
    • Reviewing and approving bids from contractors for clean-up and construction projects on
    • acquired land.
    • Evaluating title records to determine ownership and encumbrances, such as easements and mortgages.
    • Coordinating with government agencies to obtain permits for construction activities on public Land.
    • Our business is focused on sustainability, hence as a land acquisition executive have the responsibility of finding ways to acquire land that is both affordable and promotes sustainability against climate change.
    • Incumbent must pay loads of attention to reduce the environmental impact of our projects
    • either by sourcing land that has been previously developed or by working with developers who have already taken steps towards sustainability.
    • Persistent community engagement is an increasingly important part of business development, hence incumbent must create, develop, and nurture positive relationships with all our host communities.

    Skills & Qualifications

    • Degree in Real Estate, Urban & Regional Planning, Architecture, Bus. Admin, or related field
    • 5+ years’ experience in land acquisition, development, or management
    • Experience working with the Ministry, Department or Agency of the Government on land use, and town planning in southwestern Nigeria and or Ogun state.
    • Working knowledge of GIS mapping software
    • Familiarity with environmental laws and regulations
    • Proven track record of successful land acquisitions
    • Strong negotiation skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills

    Proficient in Microsoft Office, projects, with the aptitude to learn new software and systems

    Country Manager

    Job Description

    The Country Manager is responsible for setting the mission and vision of the non-governmental organization in Africa and defining its strategic direction, ensuring that resources are in place to accomplish important mission goals, recruiting and retaining staff, keeping teams motivated and capable of exceeding expectations and building the kind of corporate culture which supports the non-governmental organization in Africa mission.

    Reporting Relationships:

    The Country Manager reports to the Advisory Board (with experience in the industry) two boards, a Board of Trustees and an advisory board.

    The Ideal Candidate

    The Country Manager will set strategy and vision, build the non-governmental organization in Africa, lead the senior team, and allocate capital appropriately. Working with the Board, the Country Manager will set important goals for the organization and work systematically to meet them.

    The Country Manager will make it a priority to define non-governmental organization's priorities and direction. The ideal candidate will assess and evaluate strategies, decide how the organization will differentiate itself from other like-minded organizations in the region and hire teams, set budgets, forge alliances, and build partnerships to further the mission. The Country Manager will play a formative role in building the culture of non-governmental organizations around community service, accountability, and results so that the very best in the field find the non-governmental organization to be a solid professional home with ample opportunities for advancement and professional growth. The Country Manager will invest heavily in the training, mentoring and capacity building at non-governmental organizations. Finally, the Country Manager will actively promote non-governmental organizations to build their financial reserves and goodwill. The ideal candidate will secure resources, budget allocate resources appropriately and hold herself accountable for the financial health of the organization.

    Core Responsibilities

    The Country Manager will:

    • Lead the mission and vision of the organization, along with the Board, so that non-governmental organization’s stakeholders receive high-quality services.
    • Implement strategic plans, based on data-driven analytics, projections, and financials.
    • Manage Non-governmental organization's budget and ensure that it is a financially viable, sustainable organization with the resources to meet current and projected program growth.
    • Ensure that non-governmental organization follows relevant state and federal laws, and regulations and with standard accounting procedures.
    • Build a high-performing team and play an active role in attracting, retaining, and developing high-performing staff.
    • Identify and implement cost-effective ways to deliver state-of-the-art programs to stakeholders.
    • Participate in identifying and cultivating corporate, individual and foundation sponsors and partners
    • Lead Fundraising activities and proposals on behalf of the organization
    • Cultivate excellent relationships with local media; provide oversight for non-governmental organization's presence in social media.
    • Reach out to the community to present non-governmental organizations, their vision, and services through public presentations and by attending relevant business events, conferences, and gatherings.
    • Sponsor and/or co-sponsor special events designed to promote NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANISATION's mission.
    • Develop and work with the Board, ensuring that Board committees and efforts are well-organized and funded.
    • Inform the Board regularly of internal organization matters, including relevant staffing, funding and program success and priorities; and
    • Keep Non-governmental organizations current and at the forefront of Gender focused non-profit organizations.

    Key Credentials and Personal Qualities

    • Master's Degree in Non-profit Management, Business Administration, Finance, Economics or a related field
    • 5-10 years of successful senior leadership experience at a not-for-profit or social impact organization
    • Commitment to results; 'can-do" mindset with emphasis on accountability
    • Experience with change leadership and change management
    • Strong motivational and staff leadership abilities
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills
    • Integrity, authenticity, and impeccable work ethic
    • Good knowledge of Office Suite and Excel required
