    2Africa Managed Service Lead

    Job Summary

    • The 2Africa Managed Service Lead will be responsible for complete fulfilment of 2Africa Submarine, terrestrial networks and 3rd party collocation facilities.
    • Direct the team on operational tasks and maintenances including upgrades and decommissioning of network elements requiring interdivisional coordination.
    • Coordinates administrative matters, scheduling and unit operations.
    • Participate in new proposals or other project development activities.
    • Other duties as assigned include third- level support for the CLS network elements [Power Feed Equipment (PFE), ROADM System (Ciena, ASN & Nokia equipment)] and the 3rd party repeater PoP site facilities.
    • The discharge of responsibilities will require close coordination across teams, Landing partners and adherence to timelines and SLAs.

    Responsibilities
    In addition, he/she will be responsible for the following:

    • Oversee the execution of support requests on different Transmission platforms within the operational level agreement (OLA).
    • Provide support in troubleshooting and resolution of network related problems on the Submarine Power Feed Equipment (PFE), DWDM/OTN, ROADM network and facility systems within the Submarine Cable landing station.
    • Analyse and identify root causes of lingering or repeating faults on the Submarine network, terrestrial fiber routes and facility systems, affecting network performance and come up with suggestions and action plan to address them.
    • Effective coordination with Landing parties, equipment vendors for addressing equipment issues and with third party network / Facility providers relating to the operational issues faced on the resources leased from them.
    • Support all aspects of the network management process assuring requests, implementation, and problems are resolved as required with no impact to the global communication infrastructures.
    • Coordinate performance review meetings with internal and external stakeholders
    • Participate in strategic network operations sessions across the technical group and landing partners.
    • Participate in managing tasks assigned by NOC assuring full implementation and documentation standards are adhered to.
    • Ensure all documentation is always accurate and up to date.
    • Effective OPEX/CAPEX management and general cost management.
    • Directs a program for service, repair and inventory.

    Qualifications

    • A Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent in Electrical / Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering.
    • At least 12 years post NYSC work experience with Transmission Networks, 4 years related experience in Facility Management.
    • Team leadership experience is required.
    • Ability to review engineering documents and provide guidance on execution as requested.
    • Proficient in setting up & use of testing equipment (Ethernet Analyzer, OTDR/Power testing tools / instrument) and analyse results.
    • Ability to troubleshoot, identify root causes and recommend solutions on DWDM/OTN equipment, and power systems (DG, Cooling, Rectifier and UPS).
    • Knowledge of fault management processes and procedures.
    • Must have ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of industry, government and public contracts on project-related matters.
    • Strong analytical and data driven decision making ability.
    • Ability to plan, organize, motivate team members, key stake holders to achieve service delivery objectives of each project.
    • Ability to establish effective working relationships with public officials, vendors, and other agency managers.

    Senior Associate, Senior Associate, Access Network Planning

    Job Summary

    • The Access Network planning Engineer (GPON) will be responsible for designing, deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting GPON-based fibre optics networks while ensuring optimal performance and supporting technical operations.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in the design, deployment, and maintenance of GPON Enterprise/SME Networks.
    • Oversee implementation of GPON network projects in line with scope, design standards, and agreed timelines.
    • Translate customer requirements into scalable network designs and execute deployment projects according to technical standards.
    • Conduct pre- and post-deployment GPON heatmap analysis to validate coverage, capacity, and performance.
    • Overall project planning, delivering, and updating on Project milestones through out project lifecycle.
    • Provide technical support during implementation, migration, and post-deployment phases.
    • Provide support as required on last mile connections, involving GPON and sometimes Access radios.
    • Keep inventory / database of all deployed GPON links in the network.

    Qualifications

    • Strong Experience in GPON Technology and fibre optic transmission networks.

    • May be required to travel out of station on a very short notice.
    • Good understanding of ITU-T G.984 and G.987Standards for GPON and XG-PON.

    Landing Provider Engineer

    Job Summary

    • The Landing Provider Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Transmission (Submarine and Terrestrial) network comprising of network elements such as ASN, Nokia and Ciena equipment on the network.
    • He / she will also support the network facility (Cooling / Power systems) and work with the customer / OEM vendors / technical team and generate applicable reports.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide routine, preventive, corrective and diagnostic maintenance services for the Customer and Interested Parties' Separately Owned Property, the Submarine Terminal Equipment, Terminal Facilities, Terminal shore-end and Fronthaul Cable and Terminal Cable landing Station, according to all the manufacturers' prescribed procedures.
    • Troubleshooting and resolution of 1st and 2nd level network related problems on the Submarine, DWDM / OTN and ROADM network.
    • Perform careful analysis of all alarms on the Branch Common Infrastructure at the Terminal Station.
    • Respond to and resolve network issues within the service level agreements (SLAs).
    • Review and execute RPRs (re-provision requests) on the network platforms with minimal supervision.
    • Support all aspects of the network management process assuring requests, implementation, and problems are resolved as required with no impact to the global communications.
    • Deploy and document changes in accordance with problem and change management process.
    • Participate in managing projects introduced by engineering team assuring full implementation and documentation standards are adhered to.
    • Able to interpret, review and implement networks designs from the customer & core network planning team.
    • Perform most effective approach to restore, recover, or alter configurations, logical or physical, to maintain service integrity.
    • Provide root cause analysis (RCA) on fault resolution such as fault clearance date and time, identification of Terminal Station personnel, the exact nature and cause of the fault, Terminal Station recommendations (lessons learned) and how to avoid reoccurrence of similar faults in the future.
    • Support the Cable Landing Station power infrastructure, including power systems (Rectifiers and UPS) and backup generators.
    • Perform inventory checks periodically on the station tools and equipment as requested by the NOC or other parties.
    • Ensure that the company's Backhaul and metro fiber network documentation is always accurate and up to date.

    Qualifications

    • A Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent in Electrical / Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering.
    • At least 6 years post-NYSC work experience in the configuration, operations, and maintenance of DWDM / OTN equipment, optical fiber, SDH equipment.
    • Ability to review engineering documents and execute provisioning as requested.
    • Ability to setup & use relevant testing equipment (Ethernet Analyzer, OTDR / Power testing tools / instrument) and analyse results.
    • Ability to troubleshoot, identify root causes and recommend solutions.
    • Ability to install, commission, implement and configure according to design and specification.
    • Knowledge of fault management processes and procedures.

    Associate, Access Network Planning Engineer

    Job Summary

    • The Access Network Planning Engineer will oversee the design of Access network using various transmission media, ensuring cost effective solutions and innovative approach to network planning.

    Responsibilities

    • Co-ordination of site/TSS surveys for PoPs, MW links, equipment cabinets and tower deployment.
    • Generate detailed microwave link engineering document using Pathloss & other planning tools to meet set KPI’s.
    • Overall project planning, delivering, and updating on Project milestones through out project.   
    • Ensure that accurate scope of work is issued to contractors to aid quick project delivery.
    • Provide support as required on last mile connections, involving MW radios and GPON.

    • Prepare biannual deployed MW Radio links database to be submitted to the regulator (NCC) on agreed due dates. 
    • Provide the required support to escalated issues from field support team.
    • Carry out frequency interference checks with Spectrum Analyser as at when required.
    • Review and validate BoM share by OEMs to ensure conformity to RFP ‘s.
    • Work periodical with technical sale/ Pricing to conduct PoP profitability Analysis.
    • Optimize Access network links from time to time for operational efficiency.

    Qualifications/Skills

    • A bachelor’s degree or Equivalent in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or related discipline.
    • At least 1-3 years post NYSC related experience
    • Ability to interpret topography, network design maps and CAD Designs

    Data Center Critical Facilities Engineer III

    Job Summary

    • Applies acquired job skills to work on tasks that are semi-routine in nature. Focus is on semi-routine tasks within standard operating procedures. Supports the overall team.

    Responsibilities
    Facility/Infrastructure Maintenance:

    • Performs semi-routine preventative maintence checks on-site to non-critical, facility components
    • Performs semi-routine repairs, maintenance and installations to non-critical facility components
    • Monitors the Builiding Monitoring System (BMS) and responds timely to semi-routine alarms according to standard operating procedures
    • Assists more senior staff in higher facility repairs and corrective maintenance measures

    Site Administration & Incident Support:

    • Performs semi-routine site logs for permits, such as Maintenance Operation Protocol (MOPs) and scripts
    • Uses acquired job skills in following operating procedures to support on-site administration

    Work Orders & Additional Projects:

    • Completes semi-routine work requests and circuit installations
    • Follows established procedures with troubleshooting and maintaining office equipment (if necessary); supports auxiliary equipment and machines
    • Assists more senior staff with responding on-site incidents and acts as directed

    Collaboration:

    • Collaborates with others to resolve semi-routine facility incidents
    • Provides assistance to more senior staff on infrastructure projects
    • Informs stakeholders of inventory needs to maintain stock levels of parts and equipment
