    Wash Project Manager

    The WASH Team leader will be supporting the implementation of the WASH activities in the NRC Maiduguri area office with frequent movement to the field for technical assessments, supervision of staff and contractors, approval of constructions, preparation of certificate of completion and ensuring compliance of projects with donor requirements.

    The purpose of the WASH Project Manager position is day to day implementation of the WASH activities in the field. She/he shall ensure preparation of weekly work plans, alignments of technical designs, BoQs, Sport checks and supervision of the construction works and provide technical support for integrated activities. He/she will also work closely with WASH officer, Shelter FSL and Education project Officers in the field to ensure timely delivery of construction activities and will assist the Project Managers in the overall planning and design of (future) projects. 

    What you will do:

    1. Line management responsibilities for directly reporting staff. This includes the
      • Performance management process; setting clear goals aligned to country strategy and priorities, and to follow up and support staff’s achievement. 
      • Responsible for key processes as workforce planning, recruitment, staff induction and development and ensure Duty of Care for own staff
    2. To be responsible for the quality of WASH deliverables whilst providing technical support to WASH co-ordinator and officers  and develop relevant WASH training including coaching of newly recruited WASH officers and  to ensure they meet NRC’s WASH standards. Also contribute to the induction of new staff with a role in the WASH processes 
    3. Participate in project plan of action –analysis of all construction projects and documentation of the same for approvals.
    4. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
    5. Ensure proper filing of documents – Notably BOQ’s, completion certificate.
    6. Promote and share ideas for technical improvement for WASH construction activities and consolidation of all Means of verifications for the M and E matrix.
    7. Preparing accurate monthly progress reports and other technical documents or tools
    8. Contributes to capacity building of project staff and community volunteers assisting in construction projects
    9. Collaborate with local authorities and other stakeholders and promote the rights of people affected by displacement (IDPs, returnees, refugees, host populations) in line with NRC's advocacy strategy.
    10. Compliance and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures, (if a function role) and a specific responsibility for the functions policies and procedures 

    What we are looking for:

    1. Holder of a university degree in EHA, hydraulics, hydrology, civil engineering, public works, architecture, or its equivalent.
    2. Higher education certificate shall be considered as an added advantage. 
    3. Minimum 3 years of experience of working as a Project Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context
    4. Solid knowledge of the principles of WASH in a conflicting environment
    5. Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
    6. Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
    7. Good knowledge of English of both verbal and written communication. 
    8. Proven knowledge in construction works, borehole construction/rehabilitation, water points, latrines construction/rehabilitation. 
    9. Proven knowledge in soft WASH components including community sensitization, construction works
    10. Project design skills.
    11. Good capacity for planning and monitoring of activities
    12. Have good knowledge/experience in conducting qualitative/quantitative assessments and in responding adequately to identified gaps
    13. Ability to work in a team and in a heterogeneous environment.
    14. Have a good knowledge of the local cultures and languages of the areas of intervention 
    15. Have a good command of computers (Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CAD software);
