    Training Facilitators (Consultancy)

    About the Project

    • Piloting Localization of Pooled Funds via Coalition Models in Adamawa State of Nigeria is a project that aims to pioneer and seamlessly integrate the Local Coalition Accelerator model, fostering enhanced capabilities among National and Local NGOs.
    • This initiative focuses on bolstering their proficiency in knowledge acquisition to bolster resource mobilization, drive effective project implementation, conduct impactful research, shape policies, foster robust collaboration, and facilitate seamless coordination with sectors, agencies, and government MDAs. In Adamawa state, where crisis-affected populations reside in areas often beyond the reach of UN Agencies and INGO, and the onus falls on NNGOs to deliver essential services.
    • This project serves as a guiding beacon, ensuring standardized, high-quality services and pre-emptive policies to mitigate various risks, encompassing security, financial, and humanitarian concerns. Moreover, a specific portion of the funding will be earmarked for prompt responses to critical crises in health, nutrition, WaSH, and Food security, addressing emergent needs effectively.
    • The project is being submitted under envelope 4B, also seeks to empower women and girls in crises affected communities under the umbrella of self-help groups which are already identified and will be supported in four LGAs (Michika, Mubi North, Hong and Gombi) of Adamawa State. LESGO working with Share Trust will also leverage on identified organizations as GoalPrime Organization Nigeria which has piloted similar activities as well as PLRCAP and the likes in garnering more local and international experiences.
    • The project is expected to build capacities of thirty Coalition members - Four each from different NNGOs and 10,000 direct beneficiaries under the rapid response mechanism.

    Project Objectives

    • The Local Coalition model is integrated into pooled fund governance and processes to increase the efficacy, efficiency, capacity, risk alertness, and inclusivity of local/national partners in responding to the crisis in Northeast Nigeria.

    Background of the Workshop:

    • The project titled “Piloting Localization of Pooled Funds via Coalition Models in Adamawa State of Nigeria” aims to pilot innovative approaches for localizing pooled funds through coalition models.
    • The project recognizes the importance of collaborative efforts among civil society organizations (CSOs), government agencies, and other stakeholders to achieve impactful policy outcomes.
    • The workshops will enhance the capacity of coalition members to engage in evidence-based advocacy and policy development.

    Objectives of the Workshops:

    • Strengthen the understanding of coalition members regarding advocacy strategies and policy development.
    • Equip participants with practical tools and skills to influence decision-making processes at the state level.
    • Foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing among coalition partners.

    Methodology:

    • Interactive workshops combining presentations, case studies, group discussions, and practical exercises.
    • Guest speakers (policy experts, CSO leaders) sharing real-world experiences.
    • Hands-on sessions to develop advocacy plans and policy briefs.

    Participants:

    • Coalition members, including CSOs, community leaders, and representatives from relevant government departments.
    • Facilitators with expertise in advocacy, policy analysis, and coalition building.

    Expected Outputs:

    • Draft advocacy plans tailored to coalition priorities.
    • Policy briefs addressing specific issues relevant to Adamawa State.
    • Enhanced collaboration and networking among coalition partners.

    Scope of Work
    Facilitator is expected to cover the following:

    Advocacy Fundamentals:

    • Understanding advocacy: concepts, principles, and approaches.
    • Identifying advocacy issues relevant to the coalition’s mission.

    Policy Analysis and Development:

    • Analysing existing policies and identifying gaps.
    • Developing evidence-based policy recommendations.

    Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Mapping key stakeholders and their roles.
    • Strategies for effective engagement with policymakers.

    Coalition Building and Governance:

    • Defining coalition governance structures.
    • Decision-making processes within the coalition.

    Monitoring and Evaluation:

    • Tracking policy changes and assessing impact.
    • Developing indicators to measure advocacy success

    Duration and Timelines
    The duration of the short-term consultancy is two (2) days, 7 hours per day (8am to 5pm) with specific timelines as follows:

    • Day 1: Facilitate workshop.
    • Day 2: Facilitate workshop.

    Key Deliverables:

    • Presentations slides
    • Workshop plan
    • Training report
    • Advocacy plans and Policy recommendations

    Qualifications and Profile
    The facilitator should have:

    • Interested candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in relevant fields
    • At least five (5) years’ experience in facilitating Advocacy and policy for coalition systems or Networks.
    • Ability to work collaboratively and professionally while navigating cultural and language barriers.
    • Ability to be flexible and prioritize projects and tasks effectively.
    • Be a self-starter: independent, takes initiative to solve problem.
    • Be highly organized anddetail oriented Be fluent in English.
    • Excellent communication and reporting skills.
