Training Facilitator – Leadership for Local Government Excellence at Athena Institute of Business and Technology (AIBT)

AIBT is seeking an experienced Training Facilitator to deliver a specialized programme on Leadership for Local Government Excellence.
The facilitator will train local government executives, administrators, council leaders, and key public officials on modern governance practices, leadership competencies, institutional reforms, and community-focused service delivery.

The ideal facilitator must demonstrate deep understanding of:

• Local government administration
• Grassroots governance frameworks
• Public sector leadership and reform
• Community engagement and development planning
• Ethical governance, transparency, and accountability

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver course content aligned with local governance leadership frameworks
• Facilitate interactive workshops, group exercises, case studies, and leadership simulations
• Introduce practical tools for improving service delivery, revenue generation, and administrative efficiency
• Mentor participants on leadership application in real world local government settings
• Assess participant performance and provide detailed feedback
• Prepare and submit training reports and evaluation summaries
• Collaborate with AIBT Programme Team to ensure curriculum quality and relevance

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

• PhD degree in Public Administration, Local Government Studies, Political Science, Development Studies or related field
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with or training local government officials
• Proven experience in leadership training, governance consulting, or capacity-building programmes

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD degree (PA, Sc Local Government Administration, BA Public Sector Track, etc.)
• Experience with local government reforms, planning, budgeting, revenue improvement strategies
• Strong facilitation, communication, and presentation skills
• Ability to apply practical examples based on Nigerian local governance realities
